¡FEBRUARY: MOUNTAIN THUNDER AND MAIDEN STEEL
We conclude this great month dedicated to the Dwarfs in the Bannerman tier. Following our veterans, the ingenuity of the Globo, and the legend of Kalbrak Grunzad, we close the release with the gunpowder of the clans and a figure that embodies the tenacity of the rock.
🔱 THE BANNERMAN – THE FINAL OATH
"There is no wall firmer than a dwarven shield, nor silence deeper than that which follows a volley from our guns. Let the enemy count their steps, for each shall be their last."
This month-end focus is on versatility and the future of our line troops.
CHARACTERS
Dwarf Shield Maiden: An imposing figure representing the determination of the bastions' defenders. Equipped to endure the tightest of combats, the Shield Maiden is a piece of great personality and detail.
Community Question: We’ve loved working on this miniature and want to hear from you... Would you like to see this Shield Maiden as the prelude to a full unit of female dwarven warriors? Let us know in the comments!
TROOPS
Dwarf Handgunners: The mountain's answer to long-range threats. This kit has been designed with the battle line in mind: the miniatures are sculpted to be assembled in two ranks, allowing you to create compact and realistic firing units where the guns peek through from the back rows. An essential unit for any general who relies on the power of gunpowder to thin the enemy's numbers before they reach your lines.

Thanks for all the ideas! On the “mixed unit” topic: for us, making an **all-male** or **all-female** unit is equally fine — the workload is basically the same either way. The real challenge starts when we talk about **mixed-gender units** at a sculpting/kit-design level. There are **three ways** to approach it, and each comes with a clear trade-off: 1. **Standardize the anatomy** so everything shares the same parts and connections. It’s practical, but it **reduces quality and character** (it’s not how we like to work — we’d rather deliver the best possible miniature than an “averaged” one). 2. **Keep anatomically correct bodies** and build proper variants (torsos, arms, poses, gear adjustments). This keeps the quality, but it effectively **multiplies the workload and the part count**. 3. **Split the kit** into “conversion bits” (heads/arms/some torsos). It sounds good on paper, but in practice you end up with **fewer parts to mix**, so the final combinations are **limited** and the variety reads weaker on the tabletop. That’s why, to preserve **quality and cohesion**, we usually focus on **complete units** (one way or the other). If we want more variety, we get it much more effectively through **characters or warbands** rather than a “split” mixed kit, which tends to restrict the real options. Only in **very exceptional cases**, when we need **few miniatures** and the kit **doesn’t need to be multi-part** (for example, something like *Wood Elf dancers*), we’ll mix them without compromising the end result.
Why not make a female dwarf warband, that would mean a few different models that can be incorporated into different units for the ones that wants to use them? I personally love the new Shield Maiden, but I understand that there might be more that don't want a full unit.
Yes to dwarven shieldmaidens, but also yes to mixed-gender dwarven units.
I would not so much like an all female dwarven unit, as a few female dwarves for all units. A few female warriors, a few female warriors with heavy weapons, a few female crossbow shooters, a few female arquebusiers, etc. Dwarves seem the practical type who think females are just as capable at everything as male dwarves.
Yes!! Make a full unit of shield maidens!!
A full shield maiden unit? Shut up and take my money!
Una escuadra de enanas sería algo muy original!
