Hello all!
It’s Monday once more and you know what that means by now.
Rendering? I’m happy with it. Could have a few more renders, but it has been one of those days with all kinds of little things to take care of. I’m somewhere around 300 renders at the moment, so I’m not complaining.
Writing? It’s about where I want it to be. It is a bit weaving between things. Gorgons are fairly straightforward: earn their trust and they will give their lives for you if need be. Fiery Fangs? They’ve been screwed over by "high-ranking people" too many times, so there is a lot more dialogue variance in a sense. But nothing too big overall. But as always, writing isn’t something I’m concerned about. And no preview today, I only have spoilery stuff left that I don’t want to spoil...
So... yeah. I had several messages over the weekend regarding this, so let me put it this way. Speculation is fine, talking about is fine, questions about is fine, I answer when I can and get to, I can even open a channel on Discord for it to talk about it, or sending a message is fine. It is tempting to think about new things, especially somewhat rarer settings. Now some perspective from my point of view. Environments I’m not concerned about, cities and towns I can kit-bash, and after all not everywhere looks the same. Interiors? They are slightly more annoying, but you can create things that look right with suitable props. Steampunkish clock there, some pipe with a valve there... and so on. I did create a relatively believable dwarven city for ToaM. Clothing, items, transportation is a more problem. It’s partially a problem because where you draw the line technology wise. Steampunk motorcycles... I have a couple variants of them. Ideally, I would have wanted this image to have a flying machine of some sort. Problem is, most available are blimps, so it wasn’t exactly what I had in mind for the image. There are a few items that might fit the bill, but they are old, so the textures on them are lacking. Which isn’t a problem as long as material zones are set right... but not really something for now. So as I said, I don’t know what is next, it all depends on how I feel towards end of Sorcerer 2. This, terminus or ToaM? Or something completely different. I know it then. And way too early to think about it, well for most part anyway, my mind does what it wants. I’m not going to lie, I have about 95% of the setting already built in my head anyway... did it over the weekend... Right. Break, and then few more renders and a lot more writing. Ican appreciate the need to mainyain the stiryline... To be sure I have never siin sucj layering pf plots iutside of iWheek of timr,i One method of dealing with it I have seen in another Gane "Love of Magic: was supporting $ub$criptiond gor some to offer dtorylinre aditions in a limiyed topic "Slice of Life". It allowed the authur ti aceot ideas with limits to enhance part of thr game.. I use Mimble but have had too manu otoblrms with Discord. I will refrain from offering game ploy duggestiomd out of respect for yout creative genius.
It's always more about the world than plots that people in general comments about, what they would like to see, what could be added (world wise), how X or Y works (like magic, or psionics or some other thing), and other similar things. No one really affects the plot since that's already decided before I put anything out for the most part. Personally, I'd prefer a good old fashioned forum, but unfortunately maintaining one on top of everything isn't feasible right now for various reasons. But then again, always can message in here even in private. Might take a moment or two to respond but it will be read regardless.
I'm hoping for more of terminus and ToaM. They both are great VNs and both still have so many possibilities just like Sorcerer does.
Whatever you choose to do next will be great, I have no doubt. I'll be sticking along for the ride as long as you are making VNs. :)
I like speculation it keeps things interesting. As for what I would like to see, you've done 2 TRS and you're working on the second Sorcerer. Personally, I would like to see a second ToaM. But that's just me. The 2 renders you've done in the past week look like the start of different type of VN and I would like to see it pan out down the road. But as I said that's just me. Thank You for the update.
It's in the end about the mood. Sorcerer 2 has a massive cast, it had massive cast even before I started it. Terminus Reach had maybe around 15 (LI and non-LI) people that came back as is? And it ended up in 35 love interests alone. Sorcerer has maybe 40 characters that already comes back (love interests, and non-love interests combined (at least 33, or somewhere there, LIs potentially in total). ToaM has 38 potential love interests already. So the more accurate question is am I in a mood to start something that has massive variances soon after doing one that has a lot of variables to juggle? Maybe, it all depends on how Sorcerer 2 goes and how stressed I feel after it. I might want something simpler to do. But that being said, I have things for ToaM written down so, have to wait and see once Sorcerer 2 is closer being done.
Steampunk sounds interesting—I don't think I've seen many VNs with that theme 🙂
Steampunk is among one of the rarest settings used in almost any medium, outside of books. There it is somewhat less rare. So yeah, it could be a change of pace.

Sorcerer was when I first joined up and it is still my favorite. As allied with the Gorgons I have missed the Firery Fangs portion of the VN. Any chance the Fangs join up even if they are not allied?

i vote is for more Terminus. Anything you do will be great and I will enjoy it. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication.
While I would love to return to Terminus or ToaM, the new setting definitely appears interesting. I guess I will just say that I hope at some point you feel like this setting and characters have a story to tell and your share that story with us. Whether it is the next one, the one after that or further in the future I look forward to the stories you tell. I have enjoyed all the tales you've done so far so I expect I will continue to in the future. For some reason that almost sounds a little dismissive when I read it back but I cannot think of a way to say it better so I'll just say that I am not trying to be dismissive or demeaning.
Nothing to worry about. Occasionally text seems more... harsher than intended.
