Doctor Who 11x04 (edited clean)

Now be warned, those with a spider phobia - probably don't watch this one! It's pretty full on so would be best avoided.

Once again, loving our little group of Companions and Doctor. This better not break my heart....

I appreciate how the Doctor wants the companions really to be sure about joining her, even as much as she clearly wants them with her. Such an intentional choice. And I really like how normal they feel. Just regular people. And then they all pull the TARDIS lever together at the end -- so cute! 13 does have a lot of compassion. She extends sympathy to the scientist when they find her co-worker dead and cocooned, for example. But she doesn't have a filter either: "shall I go fetch the parcel while you make your terrible pakora?" She's such a chatterbox, with some nice quirkiness to her. In addition to the time with the companions in this one, I like how we get to spend some time in the TARDIS. The Director or cinematographer are clearly having fun exploring different camera angles. There's a shot of Yaz in reflection in a side, blue crystal. It's such an interesting, dynamic TARDIS! I think the title of the episode must be a pun or reference to the Sex Pistols song "Anarchy in the UK", though I'm not sure that song has anything to do with any of the episodes' themes.

Yeah, watched this once when it first aired and is the only episode of Doctor Who I've never watched again. That said I'm getting better with them, currently have one living in my spare room window and as long as it stays there (and there are no nuclear accidents in the immediate future) I'm happy for it to stay and catch flies for me.

HEHE! I love that! And yes, they can catch all the flies and bugs. They are good for that! As long as they stay to their corner, I'm mostly okay...

I really enjoyed this episode! I like learning more about the companions , they each had their own stories and I liked how they all came together at the end! Looking forward to the next episode!

You're right that this isn't really an episode for anyone who's scared of spiders, even though the ones we have here are generally small and harmless (like everything else, including our sharks) in contrast to the bigger dangers of the spiders and other animals down under. It's also a surprising that they actually showed the square-cube law in action and why animals growing far larger than usual just means they'll struggle to breath, among other things. It's interesting that you're really enjoying the new format with the three companions as well as the Doctor. It's a bit of a gamble given that it's hard to give everyone enough focus but I think they've managed it to some extent so far. It's also nice to hear more about what you love about the new Doctor as well.

It is pretty rare that I do see a huge spider! I get the odd huntsman here and there, but they are just here to chill out and eat bugs... I still take them outside anyway as they are pretty big 🤣 I adore the companions!! I think it's mostly because of Graham haha as I am so taken with him. It's hard to get to know EVERYONE as well as I'd like though, as there are so many of them. That's my only gripe with 3 companions!
