Arcane 2x07 Edited & Full

I feel that this episode is a bit of a break from some of the darkness we've experienced. Though I did love the difference between the heaviness of one story, compared to the feelings of another. Some lovely moments in this one, even if it did make me feel a bit wistful - what we see but can't have 😌

What I've always wondered is: what happened to the Ekko and Heimerdinger. from the parallel world when "our" characters arrived? Did they go to "our" world for that time? Or were they just not conscious? Something else? BTW in the YouTube edit at 11:29 the sound got mixed up until 11:35.

Short background to this episode. Amanda Overton (the head writer) came on board when the pilot was already written and always thought what a miracle it was for Vi to not get killed in that explosion. So her starting point for writing this episode was the thought: What would happen to all these characters if Vi would have died in that explosion? πŸ€”πŸ˜Š The title or the song they dance to is "Ma meilleure ennemie" and translates to β€œMy best enemy”. It mirrors Ekkos and Jinx' love/hate relationship from Ekkos perspective. (Synthesizer intro: β€œI love you, I hate you / I love you, I hate you / I love you, I hate you/ ...”) By now it became a great hit with more than 500 million streams on Spotify alone... πŸ˜ŠπŸ’”πŸ˜πŸ’– Imagine how Ekko must feel after he spent half of his life watching his beloved Powder turn more and more into Jinx. The last few times they met she tried to kill him. No wonder he threw something at her the moment he recognized her and is so harsh and mean to her. He has a hard time wrapping his head around what's going on and how different she is. Asking Powder if she killed Vi is brutal and mean from her POV, especially since she is obviously still dealing with grief and survivor's guilt (albeit in a much healthier way than her counterpart in our universe). From his POV it makes absolute sense, because Jinx tried to kill people that loved her or was unintentionally responsible for their death...πŸ’”πŸ˜ It was so incredibly important for Ekko to see all this, that Powder can be like this. This way he was able to re-discover his love for her and maybe is able reconnect with her in the future. (Especially now after the loss of Isha, where Jinx needs all the help she can get...πŸ™ˆ) And he got closure with Benzo. He never could tell Benzo – his adoptive father after all – what he meant to him.πŸ˜πŸ’– Seeing this universe gave him back his hope. When Jayce awakens in the post-apocalyptic Piltover, there is the mage Viktor hinted at in the last episode. They make such a fuss about not showing his face. And these scary metal-zombies look exactly like Viktors followers how Jayce saw them...πŸ€” Ekko saw what could have been and Jayce saw what must not happen. Ekko saw beauty, while Jayce was almost literally bearing his cross. I guess you could call Jayces walk through hell and to the anomaly on top of the hexgate as β€œThe Passion of Jayce”...πŸ™ˆ This show is all about forgiveness and love and that everything you do has consequences, so Vi "had" to die for this story line, as sad as it is. It couldn't be any of the others, their death wouldn't have had such an impact. Her death - the death of a beloved big sister, a leader and protector among the teenagers of Zaun and the (adoptive) daughter of one of Zauns leaders - triggers many changes for the better. A teenager dying in an explosion at a failed break-in was the wake-up call both cities needed. Jayce is out of the picture (dead/arrested/banned) at a time where he didn't figure Hextech out yet and Powder never figured out that the blue gemstone caused the explosion, so Hextech got never invented. Having her remaining family still intact, Powder was able to make peace with the loss of her sister and the circumstances and could grow into this wonderful person we saw right now. Marcus felt for the kids and never got this angry and eventually corrupted. Ekko never lost Benzo. Vander and Grayson never died and were able to bring the cities closer together. Silco found Vanders letter and they reconciled and were both able to let their vision of Zaun become reality. Heimerdinger, still in the council in this universe, had three years to do good and used them wisely. Unfortunately, Vi and Caitlyn never met.

Ehh, careful reading those Youtube comments, lotta spoilers in most of those chats. Lemme throw a link to your last episode 2 X06, where my comment there actually fits here as well Juliette, in case you missed it or anyone else wants to read it: https://www.patreon.com/xjuliettex/posts/arcane-2x06-full-157939168?collection=2034594 Now the last episode, hints at the possibilities of having duality to concepts. This episode takes it a step further and pushes the narrative of parallel worlds, reaching into time and space, akin to the two halves of the same coin analogy.. yet with much more facets reminiscent of a gem, mayhaps a Hextech gem! Lovely, yet mimics the ending song to season 1, titled "What could of been" sung by Sting created by Riot games. Hence, this concept of dualism in Arcane shows more and more signs it was a predetermined theme they wanted to explore, least it feels as such which is a sign of good planning, writing or both! Yes, Jules, they in fact did make merch of that necklace, funny Riot put out their own offical necklace and boy it flew off the shelves. Though, still see folks on Etsy selling their versions of it, along with a lot of others: https://www.etsy.com/market/arcane_blue_rose_necklace Here is an image of what the necklace hidden images looked like, in the show that most people would miss: https://i.etsystatic.com/21526734/r/il/eeafc8/6461252030/il_800x800.6461252030_98ed.jpg Did you actually catch what secret lies within, do you see it now? Lemme know, k. (⸝⸝> ᴗ‒⸝⸝) ✧

My favorite episode! Your analysis at the end was spot on. I think this episode did two important things. First, we needed some happiness after what happened at end of the last episode. The connection between Jinx and Ekko was always there (there is actually a music video out there that shows more about them playing together as kids.) But there was no real way to fit in more between them with the craziness of the main storyline. So, this alternate universe reminds us of the beauty of these characters and their connection away from the battle. Additionally, this episode explained what would possess Jayce to do what he did. What seemed like unhinged craziness all of a sudden made sense. The episode showed us both what could have been, but also what can be if action is not taken. A comment I read about this episode that has always stuck with me is "Jayce found the strength to pull himself out of hell and Ekko found the strength to leave heaven. It is hard to say which took more strength."

We desperately needed some happiness, Joe! Even if it was short lived. I want to stupidly think that THIS world is the real one. Everyone can live in peace and be happy. The world we have been seeing? Nope, that's not real...
