I think Paul is freaking out because he's kinda seeing himself as a client, being in a relationship with Mellie/November, and it's really effing with him. He holds the Dollhouse and it's clients in such contempt and now he's taking advantage of a doll and it's really upset him. How Mellie was talking about how she would be the only one to give in the relationship while he just used her is very much how one would describe a client/active relationship and that's what set him off. Wild new stuff with the chair tech. We've really done a lot to humanize our characters these last few episodes, Adele and Topher specifically. We've got some really great characters on this show.
When Paul said "I found one," a client, he meant himself. He realized that that how he was in bed with her that night was more like a client with an active.
I have a different interpretation of the Paul and Mellie relationship. I don't think he's really into her. He's using her. She's just a proxy to him, to get closer to his real obsession: Caroline. You may get the feeling I don't really like Paul. That's because I don't. The whodunnit in this episode is pretty good. And we get another glimpse of DeWitt's and Topher's characters.
Oooh yes I can see what you mean! Sometimes I'm too naive for my own good 馃槄 Paul is definitely obsessed with Caroline, though I wonder if it's more a work obsession and he's compelled to crack the case? Great show that keeps us surprised and guessing constantly!!
