A little update!
Hello 👋
Here is a TLDR for those that don't want to read my nonsense... I don't blame you 🤣
---------------------
TL;DR:
Catching up on editing this week and hoping that frees up space to finally try a movie reaction soon (no promises, but I’m aiming for 1–2 a month!). I’m keeping Netflix and Disney but grabbing shows like Ted Lasso on DVD instead. Current reactions continue with Doctor Who, Severance, and A Man on the Inside (weekly for now, back to twice a week in January). I’m also eyeing Dollhouse, Arcane, Parks & Rec, and Schitt’s Creek. On the gaming side, Road to Empress has me curious about films from China or India—suggestions welcome! Taking some time off and dealing with home repairs in January, but content shouldn’t be affected.
--------------------
I hope everyone is doing as well as can be! Sometimes I write little updates in my posts, but I also know that not everyone may read them if it's not a show they are interested in. So I thought I would yap here for a bit, and release some of these thoughts that get caught in my head!
I bought Ted Lasso on DVD instead of getting an Apple subscription, so I'm really pleased about that. I'd like to do that more often if possible, and just keep my subscriptions to Netflix and Disney. So I'm hoping to start that next month in January, after A Man on the Inside. Since watching The Good Place, wholesome comedies have really become something I enjoy so I'd love to keep that going. It's made me want to explore wholesome movies as well.
I know, I know... I keep saying I'd like to experiment with movies but then never do it because the editing is daunting! But I'd like to try 😅 This week, I'm not recording anything so I can catch up on some editing which may then free up some editing time to give a movie a try. Disclaimer: do not expect it soon 🤣 but I'll work on it! I mean, it sounds good, right? Maybe a movie once or twice a month. Surely I can do this!
On my gaming channel, I've been playing a game called Road to Empress and it's actually got me interested in exploring films/shows from other countries. I was thinking China or India as I know they have a big film industry. I just don't know where to start, so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great!
As for my reactions, we are going to continue with Doctor Who, Severance and A Man on the Inside. Unfortunately, both Severance and A Man on the Inside haven't been as popular as I'd have liked but that happens and it is one of the downsides to reacting to a tv series. I do run the risk of starting something, and then not many people watch. As both of those shows are only 2 seasons, it's not a huge issue like it might be if a show was 10 seasons long. It gets really hard sometimes to pick something that 1) I will like and 2) you will like 😅 and I suppose that is the positive side to a movie - it's one and done, usually.
I did also thought of reacting to Dollhouse but I also know that show isn't that popular on reaction channels but again, it's two seasons so.... Do you see where this is going 😋 So that's something I might consider once Severance is over.
Other shows I'm considering: Arcane, Parks & Recs, Schitts Creek (but how on earth do I pronounce the title without cursing!) and a bunch of others I've got written down that you all keep mentioning 😊
I am excited because this week if I catch up on my editing, I'll feel "good" and in the right mindset to react to a movie. And the editing is something I can just work on every now and then, maybe an hour a day so it doesn't feel as daunting.
I mentioned this on my last A Man on the Inside post, but I'm just doing weekly episodes of those for the time being as this month is pretty hectic. But in January, I'll put it back up to 2 episodes a week. I am taking some time off at the end of January but that shouldn't affect anything. I also need to get some home repairs sorted but when they are banging and clanging, I can edit on those days!
Anyway, I think that's it for now! I always have so much in my head that sometimes it can really help getting it out. Thank you for listening and I hope you have a great day 💜

I've seen Dollhouse three times now. A fourth would be fun. Don't know how it fares in popularity but, even if you didn't watch it as a reaction, I'd highly recommend Gilmore Girls. I can't think of anything more up your alley. Funny, fun, wholesome and lots of opportunities for crying.
dollhouse is totally worth it. and its the last whedon show to finish those out.
Dollhouse fucking slaps. A little slow to get going but absolutely worth it.
I'd enjoy watching Perfect Days with you. Never seen it but I just saw that the director is Wim Wenders. I love the guy.
Awww yay! I think I'm going to try and watch it this week or the next, and just take my time with the editing, no pressure 💜
If you're open to doing shows in other languages, I'd like to put the Korean drama "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" on your radar if no one else has mentioned it already. I'm a recent subscriber thanks to TGP, so I'm still learning, but it's sweet and wholesome with some hard-hitting emotional moments too, so it might be something you'd appreciate as well It's just one season with 16 episodes, although the episodes are generally 60-70 minutes so a bit more of a commitment than the past couple shows
Oooh I've never heard of that! I'm going to check it out. Thank you! I've not watched a lot of shows in other languages, other than Squid Game, and since playing Road to Empress I really want to explore more cultures!
In trying to keep with the general wholesome theme but also being aware that I don't know how you'd get hold of it, I recommend the Korean film 'Perfect Days'. It's the kind of film where not much happens but you get a lot out of it. Also, we got your back!
That has gone IMMEDIATELY on my list after seeing the poster for it! The fellow looks so happy! Thank you for the thoughtful recommendation 💜 I can buy it from youtube for $4.99 so that's sorted!
Exciting update! Pulling for Arcane. Playing League does not matter at all. Beautiful show with incredible characters, plus an animated show would be a fun detour for the channel. It definitely falls in the drama category, so maybe a good Severance replacement? Plus, it is on Netflix, so no new subscription. I personally prefer Ted Lasso or Parks over Schitt's Creek, but they are all good and sit firmly in the wholesome category. For movies, given your gaming interests, can I recommend Scott Pilgrim vs. the World?
Arcane sounds great, Joe! I'm so happy you're keen for it! I was thinking Dollhouse after Severance if I went down that road, but Arcane is pretty short and I really want to watch it soon, so... Geez, January is going to be an exciting month for me with starting some new shows! I've never heard of Scott Pilgrim but now that I see the cover art for it, I recognise the actor from somewhere! It looks like a good one to check out, thank you 💜 On the list!
As far as Indian films go, RRR (2022) is a fun action movie that did very well in the West. I've seen other Western reactors do it and it could be a good starting point. Two of my other favorite Indian films are Dil Se.. (1998) and Lagaan (2001), I would also recommend either of those. One more thing: I don't know how you feel about subtitles, but I would recommend watching these movies in their original language with English subtitles. Sometimes there are English dubs available, but they generally aren't well done and can be off-putting to watch. (Just my opinion, I know some people hate the idea of subtitles). In any case, a good chunk of the dialogue in many Indian movies will be in English anyway. As far as the shows you mentioned, I also love Parks & Rec, it's one of my favorite sitcoms. I enjoyed Dollhouse too so would be happy to see it some time in the future.
Schitts Creek for the win 🤞. Many reaction channels fill in the void (maybe it's Janet's void) left by the good place with this show because although it's completely different, it has the same soul on the inside. I do think it's up your street, but hopefully the buzz it's creating doesn't set you up for disappointment. As for how to pronounce it, hmm, maybe just call it "the creek" or something (or "up the creek" 🤣). If it's any consolation, YouTube doesn't seem to censor saying it out loud in the context of saying the show name.
Jules, play and watch whatever you enjoy. Yes, we would like enjoy it too. But it wouldn't be fun for both you and us if you didn't like it. Plus, doing what you like will put you in a better mindset for continuing to do it without a lot of stress and we'll stick around to watch something with you.
Thank you 🥹 sometimes I put so much pressure on myself. I worry too much, think too much... I've got a lot going on right now and my worries about that is seeping into my content creation, I think! I will try and relax more. Your words are honestly so good to read 💜
Hi Juliette 👋 A few Chinese films I really like are Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (romance, drama, martial arts fantasy), The Killer 1989 (action, drama, thriller), Shaolin Soccer (martial arts comedy), & Kung Fu Hustle (martial arts comedy). (It's a bit hard defining the genres but I'd say that's accurate enough) Thanks for the update and have yourself a lovely day 💜
I've not seen any of those, Neil! Thank you! I did think I could do a trailer reaction to some films from different countries and see how they go first and if there's enough interest to react to the movies/series! Just trying to do new things and think up new ideas. It's hard when you're this old 🤣 One day in the near future I'm rebranding to Granny Games and Granny Reacts 😋
I've been quietly enjoying Yr Who reactions. Haven't dipped into the others as they're shows I've not seen and I'm not sure how I feel about reactions first. I suppose it'd be different from the same old. Dollhouse takes a good while to find it's tone, which is essentially the Buffy style. Good casting but early on straight laced and wooden, not the fun staking variety. As you say, a short run.
I'm glad you're finding new things to try without really trying games or shows you wouldn't dig. All I can say is to keep it up. Keep experimenting, tweaking, rejiggering. I hope the repairs go well, and I hope you enjoy your miniature vacation at the end of January. We still believe in you, and we're still excited to see what you do next. 😄 🏳️🌈🖖💜💚
DG 💜 I was thinking about you the other day. How are you? I hope everything is going well. Thank you, as always, for your support and encouragement. You've always believed in me during the times when I don't believe in myself, so thank you 🥹 I've been loving recording let's plays again, but ones that appeal to me and not just combat heavy games that get the views. It's really felt freeing, and I'd love to continue along those lines 🥰
I think you’d love schitts creek so much! It’s a fantastic show with incredibly funny characters. Very much on par with the good place for me (with the good place maybe inching every so slightly above but it is super close)
See, now I'm just excited for that!! I'll have to grab the DVDs or see where it's streaming!
Arcane is great! Also only 2 seasons so no big commitment either. I do love parks and rec too
That's my thoughts on Arcane, too! It's been recommended here a lot. I've never played League of Legends, but I don't think it matters. I will hopefully start watching that one in January or February!
I haven’t finished reading yet, but I saw you’re thinking about schitts creek and my face lit uppp 👀👀
HEHE!! But how do I pronounce Schitts 🤣🤣
