Doctor Who 10x12 The Doctor Falls - Edited

Talk about emotional... Most of you have already experienced this episode and know firsthand long ago of the pain!

Goodness, I adore the 12th Doctor. I love them all, in their own way, but Peter Capaldi is something special.

Thank you for watching, and for joining me on my Doctor Who Journey for so long 💜

Someone once said to me ‘I don’t want to go’ was 10 talking. ‘I will not change’ is the Doctor talking

I saw you saying that 12 might be your favourite. I'll say this as someone born in 1981, and someone who grew up with the BBC (Scotland) that a core childhood memory of mine is watching Doctor Who in the 80's before it was cancelled. For the longest time, the final 80's Doctor (keeping it vague incase you ever decide to explore classics) was MY Doctor. I loved Tennant, and Smith, but that Doctor was forever MY Doctor. Nothing could possibly change my mind. Then came Capaldi. OMG! At this stage I feel like he is going to be always and forever my Doctor now. Who knows what is to come in the future, but for now, he's taken the mantle as MY DOCTOR! 💙💙

I'm so sad that you are nearing the end of this amazing series. All I can say is thank you for allowing us to experience it again through your eyes. What a treat! No matter the number of rewatch this finale is still as painful and epic as I remember it. 12 completely surprised me and ended up being my favorite doctor (glad to see I'm not the only one)! And ditto to all you said at the end, more rambling please!

Thank YOU for being here!! Like many other of the shows I watch, I probably would never have seen this one if it weren't for my channel. I still remember my impression of Doctor Who back when I'd not seen an episode. I thought it would be a space drama with a theme song that went "Doctor Whoooooooooo HEY Doctor Who!" because I remember a song back in the day! I'm not often happy to be wrong, but this is one of those times haha

Lord knows how many times I've seen this episode and blubber when that piano music hits on the battlefield.... (that song is called 'The Doctor lies still' and you should get it on your devices to listen whenever you want something to feel sad to, it's really something) Fantastic finale, like you say I don't think any character doesn't get a perfect ending, Missy and The Master going out like that, Bill with Heather and Nardole essentially being told by the doctor you have to watch over the humans because you're the strongest of us two (which is what I think his expression is in that scene, it's him realising he has to go because it's only a job he can do and the Doctor couldn't) Capaldi kills me, just some people are meant for certain things and he was meant for this role, it's just him. The part of him remembering all those people calling him is a call back to classic who, many classic Doctors would get montages like that in their regenerations.

I love the montages that we've seen so far! It always excites me, to see things I might have forgotten, and also I feel it means that everything we've experienced is so special and is to be remembered. Even the adventures that people might want to forget happened 😅 It's all part of the Doctor's journey 💜

The Doctor never found out that Missy truly joined his side...

An end "Without Hope, Without Witness and Without Reward" .In their last moments Missy finally met the Doctors definition of good

Ah it was lovely to watch it through your perspective. It’s just an absolute masterpiece. Doctor Who at its very finest.

Thank you 💜 Honestly.... I think.... (this is hard to say) that the 12th Doctor might actually be my favourite... 👀

I had to leave your patreon because of financial reasons when you were at the beginning of 12th's era but I knew I'd have to be back for his finale. I do love his arc over Peter's three seasons so much, and although for long David Tennant was "my" Doctor, Peter Capaldi is just perfect. I followed your reaction on yt of course and I'm happy that you appreciate him (and Missy) just the same. Looking forward to Twice upon a time, now!

Awww thank you!! Welcome back in 💜 I honestly think Peter's Doctor might be my favourite, too. I never would have thought so, especially after David and Matt and how much they meant to me but there is something so special about Peter!!

This story is so bleak and so beautifully done. It always breaks my heart and has me crying - at multiple points. The director, Rachel Talalay, has a YouTube channel where she gives a behind the scenes look at the episodes she worked on, including how she got the shot of the cyberman carrying the Doctor. She's also shared previous unseen footage of different takes of the Doctor's speech to the Master and Missy. That's really phenomenal to watch. I know you probably can't watch that now, due to the algorithm and possible spoilers, but that's a potential extra treat for you when you've fully caught up with the show. Also has behind the scenes content for Heaven Sent.

Oh wow, I would love to see those behind the scenes moments! Thank you, Helen ☺️

The Master's ending is just tragically poetic. It's such a shame The Doctor could not see Missy fight alongside him but that ending with Simn shooting their character in the back is perfectly The Master. What a 2 part finale S10 was beautifully directed by Rachel Talalay too and Perl Mackie was fantastic throughout

Peak finale to an icredible season. Everything is so good, I love the master’s dynamic it’s so fun and tragic you could really feel missy’s inner conflict troughout the entire season and all that conflict culminate into that finale with missy finally deciding to stand with the doctor just for her past hateful self to kill out of her pure hatred for the doctor is so good and perfect for the master’s character. And Bill my god she suffered so much, I’m really glad she got an happy ending with Heather. Nardole choosing to stay to protect the humans is really nice. And my god what an Absolute beast of a performance from Peter Capaldi probably my favorite from his doctor he’s just so perfect for the role, and that speech about kindness is amazing, it’s my favorite speech from the entire show it summarize perfectly the doctor’s role as a whole just a man who do what he can do help and save other, just because he’s kind. And that ending with the companion montage from previous doctors/seasons is so good and really make you understand why by that point the doctor doesn’t want to regenerate he’s lost so many people and he can’t keep doing this anymore. And that ending with the first doctor meeting 12 is so amazing I still remember the hype back in 2017 when this episode aired it was absolutely insane and for good reason. Can’t wait to see your reaction to the Christmas special.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-ysp77GKN0&t=229s the director of this finale (Rachel Talalay, who also did heaven sent and hell bent and lots of other great episodes) recently posted a whole bunch of great behind-the-scenes bits from this episode, including the extended unedited close-up cut of the speech (with lots more in it!) highly worth a watch, so great to see more of Missy's face during that fantastic speech. so glad you enjoyed this wonderful finale!

Missy's finale act was a good one performed without hope, without witness, without reward.

O
OverWims · February 18, 2026

Remember when Missy and the Doctor first met, how she was using cybermen for her evil plan...now we know why. The Master was using them, didn't remember meeting Missy and continued using them right after regenerating into Missy...perfectly lined up.

Once again there's soooo much to unpack and it must have been a heck of a day for you watching this just after the last episode. We might as well start with Missy and how at the end she proved that she was genuine about wanting to be friends with the Doctor, or at least work with him. though sadly the Doctor himself didn't know that (though you can interpret the hand clasp as him feeling the blade and realising). In fact while she was just as willing to kill and do other evil things as any other version of the Master, when it came to the Doctor himself she may have screwed with him a little but unlike all the others she was never really out to get him. Bill's fate is a bit controversial, and it does feel like a Deus Ex Machina to rival Russell Davies. However while Moffat has been criticised for not being able to kill off his companions properly, he stands by his vision of the show as not being that sort of show where the main characters meet with horrible endings, instead he likes it being the sort of show where miracles and happy endings can and do happen and he deserves credit for having that vision even if you may not always like the creative decisions that would come from that. No doubt you were just delighted that she was saved from being a Cyberman. While that's obviously not the original First Doctor (who had died over 40 years before), he's played here by David Bradley who played William Hartnell in the docudrama a lot of us were talking about for the 50th anniversary, and was perfect casting so who better to play Hartnell's Doctor (which he kind of did indirectly already in the docudrama, as it's complicated when you have actors playing actors while they were playing a specific role). The First Doctor is the only one to date to be played on-screen by multiple actors (not counting doubles and the like) with Bradley being the 3rd. Oh and one last thing is that it was interesting seeing the comment on your early access Ted Lasso video this week when someone said that we were an odd bunch to essentially be paying to watch you cry. I couldn't help thinking about how this video would be just a couple of days away and there was sure to be crying, and you didn't disappoint ;) Lots of love as always from yesterday.

Alice 👋💜 I love your thoughts about this finale. It's been a rollercoaster of emotions, but it also feels so satisfying. I unfortunately know very little about the original 1st Doctor and most of the others, but the fact that they never forget and often reference previous Doctors and scenarios and enemies would mean so much to those who have seen it all. It feels to me very respectful, never forgetting where they come from. Even down to having Bill's Cyberman costume be a tribute to the original Cybermen. They really do care and it shows. This was a glorious episode. Missy's story was perfectly done and I cannot believe how she has changed so much over the last few episodes. What a brilliant character! Thank you, Alice ☺️

Shout out for Bill and Nardol. 2 incredible companions. (2nd time watching. Bill's ending still upsets me lol 😆). However flying around the universe seems quite fun. What a Finale.

Bill and Nardole have been amazing!! I think I still have Amy and Rory as my favourite companions for the emotional side of things, but Amy & Nardole brought so much freshness and funny moments!

Watching this for the first time was a roller coaster of emotion and it still is now Don't know why but the doctor saying "without hope, without witness, without reward" before fighting the cybermen, has always stuck with me

Peter has the best way with words. He gives off this beautiful regal air, yet he also feels relatable - if that makes sense!
