Doctor Who 9x8 The Zygon Inversion
I loved this conclusion! I think I liked it even more than the previous episode. It was exciting, funny (in some places) and had such a brilliant Doctor speech 🥺 it just gets me every time as I feel SO much sorrow for this idiot in a box... Everything he's been through haunts him every single day.
What a great episode!
p.s. it started raining really heavily during this reaction, so there's a lot of rain noise in places. I've tried to mute it in parts on the edited version but the full version has the full rain 😅

Just so you know the YT edit isn't working, it's showing as private 🙂
This is what we're talking about when we say Capaldi is the best actor to play the doctor.
Where to even begin with this one! Soooo much to talk about, the range Capaldi gets to do from hilarious to THE speech, Jenna Coleman crushing it playing herself and her evil Zygone, Osgood is a really good character too, a classic episode all round but a sometimes overlooked part is the guy that is forced to change and then takes himself out because it's a good description of the common man who just wants to live out their life quietly and ultimately is the one that suffers the most in other peoples war, he lost his life but everything else carried on anyway, that is really sad!
A speech from the Doctor is something I always adore but Capaldi... Wow. He is brilliant at them!
I love how they are starting to show us how much this Doctor cares, especially after teasing us about him potentially being uncaring at the beginning of his run. Beautiful reaction to that phenomenal speech. We can definitely see how much you care too.
He's changed a lot since we first saw him 💜 It's like he's mellowed, or grown, or perhaps even let himself be vulnerable again!
the softer the curls, the softer the personality, apparently! such a satisfying character arc and it feels so deserved one of my favorite structural bits of this season, which we see in other seasons but is really utilized well with clara and the 12th doctor, are the post-adventure tardis scenes, where they can have a moment to catch their breath and debrief and check in with each other. some of my favorites from their time are "i think you're probably an amazing teacher" from into the dalek, the whole talk about being addicted to their time together in mummy on the orient express, the bootstrap paradox explanation in before the flood, that sweet tender moment at the end of the woman who lived, and this one. such a nice way to help their character and relationship growth shine in what are often busy and complex plots. peter was born to give that speech
Peter is honestly just a brilliant actor. I've never seen him before Doctor Who but he is a master!
As long as I don't have to go anywhere important during it, I love when it rains. Heavy rain especially. I don't know why but there's something about the smell and the sound that's really pleasing. Anyway, thanks for another excellent reaction, and have yourself a lovely day Juliette.
I love it too, Neil! But only when at home 🤣 It's weird though as rain should be cozy and comforting but rain here just makes things hotter and more muggy! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Neil! A quieter one for me but I might still go for a hike tomorrow. I haven't picked the location yet 😅
I'm glad you enjoyed the Doctor's speech, which is considered not just one of Twelve's greatest moments but also for any Doctor. When Capaldi took over the role you saw how quite a few of us were gushing about how amazing he was and by this point no doubt you've seen why we rate him so highly as an actor, especially as the Doctor. I like to think that the original Osgood survives, and now we have the mystery of whether we still have the human and the zygon or technically 2 zygons. It makes sense that the Osgoods firmly believe that it doesn't matter and they're both the same, and it seems right that it remains their secret.
I've never seen Peter before, but they were lucky to get him! He is such a brilliant actor. I can never name my favourite Doctor as I've loved them all so much, but Peter just has this wonderful way about him 🥰
This episode (mainly that speech) cemented Peter Capaldi as the best Doctor for me. He doesn't have to be my favourite but I certainly think he was the best at the role. He was born to play the Doctor.
