Angel 5x14 Smile Time
Absolutely EPIC. Just when I think I've seen it all, I am reminded I really haven't come close!!
I hope you all have a wonderful week ahead! As for me, it is choc full of editing, gaming and watching Doctor Who, Angel & The Good Place ๐ I've also been trying really hard to be kinder to myself. Sometimes it's hard to create these good habits, but I know I'll be better off so looking after myself is so darn important to me. Walking, eating more mindfully and I've even cut out coffee. What is the world coming to ๐คฃ

YAY I just had to say that before I watch I've been waiting for this day ๐๐ฅฐ๐ซ
Yes this episode is truly epic. The Angel puppet was So funny:-). However, I remember when this aired we were hit with the news that the show was cancelled... It was such a sad moment, especially after this when the show proved it was on a creative high.
What an awful time to get hit with the cancellation news ๐ฅบ
Perhaps the most anticipated reaction on your channel? Glad I could sync up the full-length versions. They're looking at the wee little puppet man! It's kind of hard to comment on because I've seen it two dozen times. I guess I'm still amazed at the hard language of lead demon Polo and that the makers were allowed to get away with it. Combining the cuteness and the depravity absolutely works in this one. And so many long plot turning points! You're now in Angel's golden final run. Hankies and juice at the ready and strap in.
The wee little puppet man!!! It's just too cute! Puppet Angel and Spike rolling around having a biff is one of the best things I've ever seen!
That's some top physical acting from James Marsters, having to pretend he's being mauled by a felt David Boreanaz.
Definitely! In an interview I heard him say the original plan was to have someone else operating the puppet during the fight. It wasn't working out like James wanted to he asked to just let him do the whole scene himself. He's got so many talents.
Hi Juliette ๐ Ever since you first started watching Angel this is the reaction I've been waiting for and I have to say, it didn't disappoint! I absolutely loved your reaction to everything that happened in this episode. The fight between Puppet Angel & Spike is possibly my favourite moment in the whole show. To this day I laugh out loud every single time I watch it. Fred & Wes finally, FINALLY, getting together is also right up there as a favourite moment. The Smile Time song will forever be burned into my memory purely because of it. I just wish it had happened earlier in the series so we had got to see more of them together. I also love how Angel found the courage to be honest & vulnerable with Nina, talk about things and let her see his puppet predicament. Unfortunately her then trying to eat him may have spoiled the moment somewhat (great jumpscare though!). Gunn agreeing to help that dodgy doctor in return for a permanent upgrade to his lawyer knowledge surely won't lead to anything good. Let's just wait and see what happens... Some favourite lines/moments include; Angel - "I'm made of felt and my nose comes off" (proceeds to pull nose his off) Fred - "Oh my god! Angel, you're.... Cute!โ Angel - "Fred, don't" Fred - "But the little hands! And the hair!โ (ruffles hair) Angel - "HEY!... You're fired." Spike - "Look at you!" Angel - "Just turn around and walk away." Spike - "You're a..." Angel - "SPIKE!" Spike - "You're a bloody puppet!" Cut to them crashing though the door and having my favourite fight of the whole show! ๐คฃ Again, loved the reaction Juliette. Hope you have a great week ๐
NEIL I loved this episode!!! I adore how creative it was, and it really just WORKED. Angel as a puppet couldn't be more perfect. They nailed his dark circles, grumpy expression and even grumpier expression. Spike and Angel rolling around is just brilliant. What a moment! And also, not to forget the romance with Nina, which is really cute! They both have darker sides to each other and both are accepting and understanding of those sides. I mean, MAAAAYBE if Angelus comes out, Nina might not be too happy then. But once a month, he's really going to have to watch it! So glad you enjoyed this one, Neil. I hope you have a great week too ๐
The #1, all-time-great, best example--- in television history--- of: this episode coulda been an epic fail, and--- they made it epically AWESOME! :D Those writers jumped a lot of sharks in the final season of "Angel." I'm still impressed, to this day, that they managed to make *puppet Angel* LAND. :) Advice for the ages: find somebody who looks at you--- like Fred looks at magic-mode Wesley...๐
Jules, is it true that Doctor Who has been taken off of Stan?
I was about to say "Nah, it's still there" as it was just a day or so ago but NOPE IT'S GONE. Okay, so what do I do now?! Can I buy the episodes anywhere or is there another streaming service that has it in Australia?
