The Good Place 2x5 The Trolley Problem
May I start by saying this episode was a bit hard for me to edit 🤣🥹 I won't give too much away in case you've not seen it, but recently I have been trying to keep things a bit more calm and gentle and this episode filled me with a LOT of anxiety! It took me a few days to edit, on and off, but we got there in the end 💪
Apart from that, GREAT episode! Awesome as always!

Haha, I enjoyed you nodding at "Plus they're all French so they're going to the Bad Place automatically." like that made perfect sense to you. I mean, *of course* it's like that.😂
I think Michael was being sincere. Even the first time when he said it mockingly. It was so very specific. Then the second time he had the sniff when Chidi agreed. It felt like the emotional effects were still lingering. I think if he were faking, it would have turned off after he got what he wanted.
Although graphic and traumatizing, I do really love how they were able to still keep those scenes humorous. Such a funny episode. I do think Eleanor hit on something when she said that Michael felt stupid and was taking it out on the teacher, so from the perspective of him wanting back in class I do think that is sincere, but was he just saying what chidi wanted to hear? Maybe, I'm not too sure.
Honestly, Michael was so sincere to me in season 1 that it's really hard for me now to tell if/when he is sincere. I just don't wanna be fooled again!
I love this episode. And I love how whole-heartedly you agreed that French people belong in the Bad Place :-D
OMG I didn't mean to 😂😂😂
Was Michael sincere at the end? I think the viewers are supposed question that. Did Elenor's talk get to him or is he manipulating the situation like he has done all series and especially earlier in the episode. This first season tried to answer if a person can improve with the right influences and support. One thing this season asks is the same question about an age-old demon, who has spent his entire existence torturing people. And that question does not yet have an answer. I remember learning about the trolley problem in college. I love how this show manages to teach its audience about moral philosophy in ways that are engaging and funny. For all its legitimately funny jokes and over the top violence, that sequence actually was a good lesson on the topic. And the little girl saying, "A really bad man ran him over with a trolley" is both so devious and so hilarious!
The trolley problem is SO INTERESTING! I've always loved stuff like that!! This episode is brilliant. I'm going to watch it again today 🤣
