Doctor Who 8x6 The Caretaker
Now this was a very fun one! I love that sometimes it's so obvious when we are about to get a funny little treat, and I was right for the most part 😅

So, the question is, is Missy the head of the Good Place, or the Bad Place? :)
And with the person who talked about people who don't like Clara, I know people will have their favourite companions but to not like Clara at all I've found baffling, a fantastic character, how you have someone who's been so integral from the beginning of S7(!) and not at least appreciate her I can only assume is coming from people who haven't seen the show lol
To be honest, the more I've read Youtube comments since I've been uploading videos, the more I see some weird stuff and I think you're probably not far from the truth. People just.... seem to like hating things. Not everyone, thankfully, but there are indeed some miserable folks out there that are only happy when putting someone else down. So there'd be a few who have barely SEEN Clara, yet so quick to jump on the bandwagon. It really makes me want to move to the outback and just live with 30 cats 🤣
Danny: I'm not a PE teacher! Also Danny - Does amazing air flip with a perfect landing... What kind of Maths class is that being taught in! :p Do like their dynamic though essentially two guys who are judging the other based on their 'rank' rather than as a person. Fingers crossed The Doctor and PE will be ok in the end though!
A lot of people at the time and even now dislike Clara but she will forever be my favourite companion!
There's so many comments over on YT complaining about Clara! Sometimes I think some people don't even watch the videos, they just want to voice their complaints about her 😅 I will admit she's not my favourite companion, but I do not dislike her in the slightest!
The doctor as a caretaker somehow works, even if it is for deep cover I think this episode is ok but it's not my favourite, Clara's lies even when she most likely knows Danny isn't fooled was a bit much for me. I also don't like Danny (dont hate me), it's hard to explain but I've never taken to his character and this episode in particular I always get annoyed when he calls the doctor a general and acts like a soldier around him But to end this comment on some things I like, I like the children knowing about Clara's and Danny's relationship because that happened quite a lot at my school and I like the doctor whistling Pink Floyd as its my dad's favourite band
Great episode - Coal Hill School appears a handful of times throughout classic Doctor Who, including the very first episode way back in 1963 - I won't say any more in case you ever decide to sample the classic era! Also, as Clare Walsh says, Mr. Capaldi made a surprise appearance at Glastonbury over the weekend - a man of many talents! Well worth a watch if your able to access it.
I actually wondered if it was the same school that we saw Evil Giles at! But I did look into it and it doesn't appear so.
this episode is fun to imagine with other companions-the doctor going undercover with Rose working in the shop, with Martha working in the hospital, with Donna as a temp and Amy as a Kiss-O-Gram…endless possibilities! did you catch the video of peter singing with franz ferdinand at glastonbury this weekend?
I really enjoy this one. I love the scenes between Danny and the Doctor and what it shows about just how comfortable Clara has become with the dangers of living the Doctor's life. The Blitzer robot story is just fine, its not too important as its more just the peg to hang the main story of relationships on. But I just love it when the show tries something new to itself, and I cant think of another example of Who in all its years where we got basically Who does romcom. And a great example of Capaldi showing he can handle the comedic stuff with as must seeming ease as he does the serious stuff.
Amusingly enough there was a Seventh Doctor story where he investigated the same school and the headmaster thought he was there to apply for the caretaker job, so he got it after all. Also, having seen people as Missy's personal guests, we now see a bit more of it being a larger and more bureaucratic organisation. So you've had a handful of episodes of Capaldi (and are probably an episode or two ahead on watching), so what do you think of him and his Doctor?
