Oops... I did it again! Gaming Channel Update!

I have some very exciting news that I am so happy to be sharing with you 🤗

I know that most people are here because of the reactions and not the gaming side, so if that applies to you then feel free to ignore! But for those that also like the gaming content, I have a lovely little update for you.

Too Long Don't Want to Read: I started a new channel for casual, indie and simulator games! Expect lots of cozy puzzles and chaotic simulator fun on Juliette's Gaming Corner (name maaaaaybe pending still)

youtube.com/channel/UCh-6XGA8eXd1SSSVvjKVWUg/

If this is something that appeals to you, I'd love to see you there! I've only told channel members and you guys for now, but I will make a general update video on my xjuliettex channel soonish and mention it during that video.

Now for the long winded part:

For the longest time, I've tried to be many things on that gaming channel. I've tried a blend of AAA games, indie games, simulators, and it really wasn't working. I'd post a video and get a lot of comments asking for CoD or something else that was very different from the video I'd uploaded. As a result of not delivering what the majority of that audience wanted, over time they stopped watching and then this snowballs on to YouTube algorithm thinking that my videos are terrible and wouldn't push the video anywhere OR it would push a video to people who searched something else, like wrestling or a type of car etc.

The uncertainly and confusion and worry I felt regarding that channel has been there for such a long time. Too long now. It was really mentally and emotionally difficult to constantly keep questioning what I was doing - every single day. I've recently had some health issues which have allowed me to see things in a different perspective. I just want to be happy in my life. We don't know how long we have left and I was tired of feeling lost regarding youtube. It's such a big part of my life and it really was impacting me. I don't want to worry or feel stress when I am making or preparing content as it's something I genuinely enjoy doing.

So I decided to take a leap, revive and old channel which I have tried to use before for the SAME reason but never stuck to it, and start creating and posting there. I am incredibly happy and I feel it has renewed a lot of my passion for creating gaming videos. I should have done this ages ago... But maybe I wasn't ready. I am now.

My main channel (xjuliettex) will still be there and I will be posting more mainstream games there, like I used to. But, only when and if I feel like it. When a mainstream/AAA game comes up that I think will be fun to record, I'll do it. For now though, I'm having SO much fun with the new gaming channel and also my Story Mode channel (which is hard work but so rewarding in a creative sense and I have so many ideas I am excited to work on, but those videos are less frequent as they do take a while to make!).

I just reached a point where I needed and wanted to choose happiness and this feels like the right path for me. I love creating content for that channel. I love where the reaction channel is right now (I think finally having a show that makes me LAUGH and not always cry has been such a great choice). And I'm happy... 💜 Thank you for listening to my many words! xx

I've watched a few of your playthroughs (LA Noire, Frog Detective...) and they were definitely entertaining. So yeah, just follow your instincts, play the games you like to play and don't bother too much about the algorithm.

Don't you have enough? What is this, like 4th channel you have? Are there more? Do you have a problem, do we *need* to have an intervention? I'm joking of course, I just find it funny.

It wasn’t long winded. It’s good to be able to get things off your mind, especially amongst people you know support you! I’m sorry you haven’t been well—but gladdened you’ve found a path that will improve things. Well done! Unfortunately, I can’t participate in gaming activities—one hand and delayed reaction times, the result of a bit of a medical screw-up 25 years ago—but I can cheer you all on, and can & do enjoy some of your reactions. (Enjoy all of them I watch; not necessarily interested in watching everything but that’s to be expected). Hope you continue to feel better, and looking forward to more fabulous Juliette reactions!

Channel sounds great - I'm actually not interested in watching most AAA games. I love seeing smaller indie experiences because they're a reasonable amount of time investment. I'm just not going to watch somebody play a huge game for a 100 hours. If you're looking for a game recommendation, a cozy little one-sitting game with a surprising "narrative" is Unpacking. I really loved it and the way it told a story through moving boxes.

That's what I've been thinking too! 100 hours, or even 50 hours (heck, even 20) is a huge time commitment indeed. I have really been enjoying uploading shorter videos, one offs, and just having fun with it. There's a lot less pressure on me now, I feel, as if anyone subscribes or sees the channel - they KNOW what to expect from the beginning! It's going to be a long road to rebuild, but I am in no rush and I feel so much better 🥰 I have played Unpacking before 🥲 but those types of games are my jam!!

As a big gaming nerd, professional game developer for the last 22 years and in the process of launching my own independent studio - I very much look forward to these reactions :).

Me, I'm here for *you*. Gaming, reactions, whatever. I don't comment often on YouTube anymore because I've basically given up fighting the algorithm. It doesn't want me to comment. But seriously--you deserve to be happy. We *want* you to be happy. We're here for it, and here for you. 🏳️‍🌈🖖

Jules, do what is best for you. Sorry to hear about the health issues, hope things are better. Don't pay attention to these people who want something else. You're welcome to your happiness.
