Look, I enjoyed this episode, but it feels like we're still in a bit of a place I don't want to be in. I cannot tell you how good it feels to know you feel the same way. It's just not how I pictured the end of Buffy going at all and in a few ways, I do feel let down. Two episodes to go and it's nowhere near the united, friendship first, ending I thought we'd have. I know it was never going to be all happy and rainbows, but... you know what I mean 😔

Spike's speech to Buffy in this episode is beautiful. It definitely gave her the confidence and motivation she needed to go take on Caleb. I forgot to mention this in the last Buffy reaction, but remember Gacnar from "Fear, Itself" in season 4? He says to Buffy, "They're all going to abandon you, you know." A bit of foreshadowing there.
You said it perfectly. "While this is good for the Spike and Buffy story, it's terrible for everyone else." It's an absolutely terrible decision by the writers to throw under the bus all our characters who we've loved since episode 1 purely for the sake of one single plotline involving a character who - in my opinion - is a very decent and enjoyable character but not part of the core team. Meanwhile that core team are increasingly ignored. It just shows you where the writers' priorities lie and it's not where it should be.
I love seeing the mayor again. He was a great villain. Very charismatic and proper, yet threatening. A lot of fans hate Kennedy. I like her, personally. She's no Tara of course, but I don't mind her. And I think she's been good for Willow.
Now that you are almost up to the finale, I feel I can post this. Season 7 was a host of wasted opportunities. IMO the bulk of the season should have focused on Buffy the school counselor. The focus on the potentials and this trash storyline of her rejection by the group just never interested me. Keep in mind that the regular writing staff was more focused on applying for new jobs and a lot of this stuff was written by interns--allegedly.
I agree. Although I feel this discussion should really not begin until Juliette has TOTALLY finished the season. Even though you're not saying too much, it just encourages discussion from others who might. Let's just wait.
Yay, a surprise Buffy reaction! I don't like how they treated Buffy either, but I also understand why they did it for the plot and make Buffy realise her own power with the help of Spike. I love his speech 💓 What are your plans for Angel season five? Will you stick to one episode a week, or will you add an Angel episode in Buffy's previous spot? Just curious 😊
I think I'll just stick with one Angel a week as I'd like to add in a new show 💜 I haven't quite decided yet, so I need to make a post asking for suggestions! I was thinking Fawlty Towers, Red Dwarf, Twin Peaks.... that's about it off the top of my head 😊
I hope you know how much all the effort you're putting in to get these reactions out is appreciated. I think things would be worse if Buffy had stayed honestly. While Buffy and Faith might have been able to avoid Caleb's attacks like Buffy did in this episode if they went with Buffy’s plan, everyone else that went along would have just been liabilities that Caleb could use to his advantage. Faith's decision to get some rest before making a plan and using the bringers to get more information was a much better idea imo. Buffy just needed to let someone else take the reins for a bit while she took the time to recuperate. It goes back to the Turok-han wiping the floor with Buffy when she wasn't getting any rest.

I really am so glad you're enjoying all the bonus episodes 🥰 You might be right... if Buffy did stay, she'd just see constantly how much everyone is against her and not liking her decisions, plus I cannot imagine the stress of having SO many lives depending on you. I feel that Buffy has really been struggling this season. She's dealing with so much and maybe this really is exactly what she needs!!

I can't keep up. I'm still 3 reactions behind. 🤣 It's fine by me though, I just watch at my own pace. I'm okay with taking my time since Buffy is ending so soon. 😢 Excited for Angel season 5 though.
