Doctor Who 7x10 Hide
A creepy haunted house, a ghost, and I'm scared but excited 😅
Gorgeous visuals in this episode! The forest and colouring was stunning. Again, to me, Doctor Who hasn't looked better since Matt Smith's Doctor. It just really appeals to me!
I hope you enjoy 💜

A theory I’ve had for a while - even back when it was first coming out - about this half-season is that each episode is referencing back to a separate era of the classic show. There’s a lot in this one calling back to the Third doctor - it’s set in a Manor House, in the seventies, and even references Metebelis Three. I have no idea if this is something that other people have talked about before - I’ve never seen it referenced as an idea.
Thinking of the earth's history and feeling privileged to experience it, therefore being able to watch doctor who, therefore watching this episode which makes you think of the earth's history and that feeling of being privileged to experience it. PARADOX COMPLETED :D

This was supposed to have a cross-over/tribute aspect to it. The character of the Professor was suposed be Professor Quatermass. You probably dont know who that is, as you aren't ancient like me, but back in the 1960's before Who began the BBC ran a miniseries called Quatermass and the Pitt, a classic of early scifi television and a direct inspiration for Who. Unfortunately they could not get the rights to use the Quatermass name in time so had to change the character name, but the background he gives for his time in the war etc is still Quatermass so I think they must have been trying right till the end and just changed the character name when they failed. Shame as it would have been a nice nod to one of the shows inspirations and a classic of the genre.
Yes this is beautifully shot and the guest cast are great and the story is clever. Series 7B doesn't deserve a bad rap with 'Hide' in it. In terms of style its not unlike that of episodes to come. Clara's fine and once she settles in she'll be brilliant. You've got some great episodes ahead of you.
Hey Jules, so when you get to Day of the Doctor (50th anniversary) there are spoilers of the something that happens later on in the episode, so I would advise when you get to 3.37 skip to 3.57. As for An adventure in space in time I looked & it's not available on youtube... However I looked online & found the full movie in 2 parts on dailymotion, both in good quality with the spoilery bit not in it. But for some reason at 25.45 in part 2 there's a little documentary, unfortunately that has footage of spoilers for the last 2 episodes of series 7 so I would avoid that Here's a guide to follow for the episodes: Adventure in Space in time (watch this after Series 7 Ep15, Don't watch Past 25.45 in part 2) Part 1 https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1wfmek Part 2https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1wfln7 Night of the Doctor Minisode https://youtu.be/-U3jrS-uhuo?si=WkFrhqKRwS5LGT3k Day of The Doctor 50th Anniversary (at 3.37 skip to 3.57)
I disagree. I looked and 3.37-3.57 appears to be the opening credits. These are set in the middle of a fantastic visual sequence so you'd be losing a chunk if you skip it. It's the 50th, and its a movie more than an episode. So its not a stretch to imagine there'll be a big guest star or few. The story isn't built in a way that intends these actors to be an on-screen surprise. (Indeed they were trailed in the UK for months in advance) Seconded on Adventure in Space in Time. It's a beautiful docu-drama. I was curious about Fraser's "don't watch" comment about this. Seems intended as a soft remark as in, 'not part of the feature'. (After 25:45 is a delightful bonus-style 5 minute featurette about William Hartnell which afaik has no spoilers and might make a nice chaser)
This was the first episode Matt & Jenna filmed as current day Clara & The Doctor. I find some aspects of Jenna's performance in this episode very different from how she has played Clara to what you have seen so far especially. It's like on set she was trying (& written) to see what does & doesn't land to me. There's is just something slightly off but that being said it's a fun episode, the return of the orange spacesuit too. Sadly a bit of an abrupt ending
Whaaaaat?! It always makes me so surprised to hear things like this! I don't know why they are filmed out of order but someone like me simply can't tell 😅
Since you're coming up to the 50th Anniversary I was wondering if you were going to look at An Adventure in Space and Time. It's not technically an episode of Doctor Who but it's a great docudrama about the start of the show. If you are, just make sure someone else gets and checks it first so you don't see the recent rebroadcast version that spoils the current Doctor. It's interesting to hear your thoughts on all the companions you've seen, and that there have already been enough for you to struggle to remember one or two (and that's not even getting into all the classic companions there've been but you obviously don't know, Sarah Jane aside). You're completely right that he doesn't remotely see them as dead people but instead as a source of life and joy to help him live after so many centuries of otherwise seeing it all. In fact he might have said something along those lines to Amy to explain why he has companions at all.
Ooh thank you, Alice! That does sound really good actually. Is it on youtube? If so, you can link to the correct one for me to watch here if you can, that would be awesome 😸 I think people have mentioned it, but there's a lot to remember! It does sound good, so I'd love to see it. Yeah, I found Clara's line to just make me a bit confused or even think she doesn't quite get him yet. I know they haven't been together that long, but Amy and Rory really had such a beautiful and close connection with him and I do miss that with Clara.
