4/22/206 Post-FDLB dev update
Back from Formula Drift Long Beach - been working like a madman, but here's a quick update since last one.
Ken Gushi GR86 - updated livery and data and helmet and other stuff. Still need proper sound, engine bay, finess the body panels and a few other things so it stays currently in beta. Kenshiro is such an amazing person, the real OG of FormulaD!
Conor Shanahan's GT86 for 2026 - fresh new release - a brand new car built by Jerry Yang Racing. I had stuff prepared before FD but right after coming home I worked 3 days non stop to get it out. Comes with freshly recorded sounds at FD Long Beach. Epic power from the VR41. Needs AO map polishing but in general its pretty good and a blast to drive! Due to requests from the team the settings are toned down for now, default setup I made very drivable though. It's currently using pre-made public wheels from STROM website as I just ran out of time to make my own version. Will try to squeeze in 3 hours for this during my trip to Atlanta.
Luis Lanz E46 - new car for Formula Drift prospec. It went through bunch of changes and probably will go through more as car is still being built at DriftHQ. The reality is 90% of FD cars are finished barely 3 days before their first event. But its drivable, RAD Dan's 2JZ, doxbox, GT Radial, currently OEM but will migrate to FDF sometime during season. Will release this on discord dev channel.
Tracks:
Updated AI line so it should work now on older CSP 2.11, also updated Grass FX so it doesnt glitch on certain GPUs. Wish i could ditch GrassFX altogether but that would kill the FPS. Pushed this release v1.3 to L1 downloads. If there is enough interest will continue work on V2
BLOG PART - FD Long Beach recap:
Scanned a few cars and parts- Gushi, Shanahan, LZ, Castro and Olsen cars. The supra and e36 chassis are far from done but slowly will come together. But it was fun testing my new 3d scanner, also tried textured 3D scan - its not as precise but really helps modeling engine bays and helmets n stuff.
Basic 3d scans:
I also took a lot of sound recordings from bunch of cars with better recording system, but i still need to improve placement and will re-record in Atlanta most of them hopefully in more controlled environment. However JYR / Conor’s car is using newly recorded sounds, I just feel like it needs improvement. The whole weekend was a rush, so here's just 3 seconds i grabbed of my setup :D
Of course besides scans and recordings i took thousands of photos for details as well as for photo work, here's some quick picks:
