Update - 17/04/2023
Hello, everyone! How was your weekend? I hope you all had time to rest. Mine was completely focused on Riftbreakers. As a matter of fact, the only thing I've done last week is work on the Bestiary. I'm confident I'll have it done this week, though! I still need to do a little bit more of playtesting, but it does look like I'll manage to have it up here on Patreon this month! This game has ended up being a ton of work, so I can't wait to have it in your hands and see what you guys think about it.
It hasn't been a great week, financially speaking... after about of a year of "threatening" me, my PC finally gave up. I've taken it to repair several times and they just can't find what the problem is; it would suddenly freeze at least once a day, but they always said it looked good, they couldn't find the problem. Now it's just not turning on, so unless I start swapping pieces to see what the issue is, I don't see what else I can do. In any case, it was getting a bit old, despite my updating bits and pieces (it has had new RAM added, a new drive, new ethernet card, new power source, new graphic card, and even a new case, over the years). The motherboard and micro are about 7 years old now, so yeah, time for an upgrade. I've been dreading this for a while because they've REALLY gone up in price lately, but I managed to find something somewhat affordable. I still had to take a small credit to pay for it, but I should be done with the payments in a year. I must say, my finances are a bit out of control lately, and the Across a Thousand Dead Worlds delays aren't really helping. I really hope Phil delivers the 2 missing sheets this week, he said he would be done 2 weeks ago... In any case, I just want to, once again, thank you all for supporting me here, it's a HUGE help.
In more positive news, I've started messing around with my skirmish Sacrifice game once again, as a little side thing. I think it's worth pursuing because not only the No Man's Land setting is perfect for a skirmish-scale wargame, I've come up with some mechanics that I've never, ever seen in a skirmish game. It's D20 based (but don't worry, no need to deal 20+ damage to kill a character; in true skirmish fashion, a character shouldn't last more than a couple of hits) and I'm working on making it fully compatible with Sacrifice, or at least as close as I can get it to be. I'm also making it playable by default with tokens on a 1 inch square grid, because screw minis and terrain. I love playing a good old fashioned skirmish game with detailed minis and a carefully crafted battlefield, but I can't be bothered nowadays, especially when playing solo. Some of the warbands I'm including are:
- Cadaennorian soldiers
- Pavarian soldiers
- Peasants
- Bandits
- Inquisitor and their retinue
- Demonic host
And maybe a couple more, we'll see. I'll tell you more about its unique mechanics other time!
This week I'll focus on wrapping up Riftbreakers, and little else. Once that's done I'll be able to breathe and start going back to older games and create content for those. So much to do!
Hope everyone has a great week!
