Update - 01/08/2022
Hello, everyone! Before we start, let's welcome our newest additions to the Order: Charles Badger and MeleeMagthere! Thanks so much for joining us!
So how was your week? I spent it working on a few loose ends regarding Sacrifice, mostly getting it ready to be available via DTRPG as a PDF and PoD. I'm having quite a lot of problems with the preview, for some reason... In any case, I'm planning on start with selling just the PDF, and later on the PoD. It looks like it will also have a proper offset print run... But I don't want to spoil the news just yet!
Development-wise, I've been working again on Empire Undying. I'm now tackling the core mechanics, and while these are based on the ones from Across a Thousand Dead Worlds (what I'm calling the Thousand Worlds game engine), I'm making a few substantial changes to them so it fits better with EU's tone and theme. I'm now working mostly on all the combat rules, and the first big change is that I've removed the hit location rules. This will speed up combat a bit (one less roll and table to check), which I think it's important because I suspect EU is going to have a bit more of combat than ATDW, since it's less psychological and more action-oriented. I've also streamlined the encumbrance system even further, and added a couple of cool new things like usage die for armors, or different disengagement rules that make combat more dynamic. So far I'm super happy with how it's shaping up!
The next big thing will probably be the magic rules; I'm not sure I'll include them in August's Patreon content drop though, because they're certainly going to take me a while. I might try to wrap up everything else (including adding all the new Conditions I'm adding to EU, to make it a bit more granular and standardized), all the mechanics that have a base in existing stuff instead of having to sit down and create them from scratch. I'll let you guys know!
I've also worked a bit on a couple of new additions to Sacrifice, some new rules and the Errant Knight starting occupation, that eventually would be part of a Companion expansion. That's really down the line, though!
So that's it for this week, I leave you with a cool image I made with MidJourney. This new iteration of their algorithm is really great, a huge step up from the previous one!
Have a great week!
