Update - 14/02/2022
Hello, everyone! Another week gone by, time flies when you're busy! I've been working on the Known Threats rules for Across a Thousand Dead Worlds, and now that I finally have things clearer I think I should progress a bit faster. Likozor is making the illustrations for these, here are a couple!
This last one reminds me of Berserk (the manga by Kentaro Miura, one of my favorite series of books ever), I think it's awesome!
While I finally figured out the template for these creatures, what I'm still working on is the rewards for killing them. I want to tie this stretch goal to the one about extra gear, but I still don't have a clear idea about how to do it... One option would be a kind of token system, where for each Known Threat you eliminate you get tokens that you can later on exchange for items back at Karum Station; another option would be straight up loot drops, but I always found super funny having a creature with no gear drop a sword or whatever. Do you guys have any suggestions?
I've also been dealing a lot of with the business side of things, now that I'm all grown up and I'm becoming a real publisher thanks to the success of ATDW. Although I'm not yet at the stage of starting my own company and making Blackoath Entertainment an official business, I am now registered as self-employed and will do everything legally from now on. The downside of this is that it appears 20K from the 100K I'm supposed to get from Kickstarter are going straight to paying taxes... It's a lot of cash, but we still have enough to pay for everything so we're good.
I've also been thinking a lot about creating content for you guys, because I feel terrible at going so long without giving you guys anything. As you guys know, my idea is to write content for ATDW as soon as you get the PDF (actually sooner), but since that's still a few months away from actually happening I thought about creating some sort of system neutral stuff in the Empire Undying setting that I can later fully stat, etc. Specifically, a kind of underground complex that forms part of The City Below, the ancient ruins that are the foundation of Theni, capital of the Acavian Empire. Would you guys like that?

I agree it would be out of place for an unarmed creature to drop familiar gear, especially an alien creature on a desolate planet. It's a lot easier to explain away in traditional fantasy with "the spider was guarding a hoard of equipment left from previous adventurers it had devoured." Harvesting unique biology that you could convert to something of value is probably the most obvious solution.
I also considered that yeah, but having partially biological weapons is a bit weird right now for the setting... I do have something similar to that planned in the future, but I'm not sure I want to implement it now.
