Poll: Extra skill for ATDW?
Hello, everyone! I need your help: I can't decide if we need a 12th skill for Across a Thousand Dead Worlds or if it's redundant. Here's the dilemma: Since interacting with Àrsaidh technology is more art than science, with a huge luck component added to it, I haven't really allowed much room for PCs doing so. The closest skill is Technology, used as a jack of all trades skill. But I was thinking allowing a limited understanding of how some of their systems work and create a separate skill ("Àrsaidh Technology") that would allow you to attempt some things like hacking into their systems. Do you guys like this? Should I just leave it all to the Technology skill, even the Àrsaidh stuff? Or not allow any interaction whatsoever? The two options would be:
- Using the Technology skill for all types of technological interactions, including those with Àrsaidh technology. In case you're attempting to use some Àrsaidh technology, you would do so with a default negative modifier.
- Adding a new skill: Àrsaidh Technology. This way we keep Technology for all other instances, and use this new one for interacting with Àrsaidh systems and devices.
So what do you guys prefer? Thanks for answering!

If you have only eleven Skills in total as it is now, adding this seems oddly specific.
It is specific but also potentially interesting to include because I think it's good to make distinction between human technology and Àrsaidh technology. I'm also trying to future proof the game a bit (like with the inclusion of the Piloting skill, which is fairly useless right now) because I have an idea of what direction the game is going to evolve in the future (yeah, I haven't finished the core book and I'm already thinking about future releases that will move the in-game timeline). So it's a bit specific right now but it will end up being quite generalist, as are most of the other skills.
