The Shawshank Redemption / Movie Reaction/ Drama

Great reaction. My No. 3 favorite movie all time after GF/GF2.
They just dont make em like this anymore. One of my favorites. Crazy to think this is a stephen king novel.
I love how this movie uses camera angles to tell the story! If you watch closely, Brooks and Red’s releases are filmed as exact opposites. - Brooks: The camera looks back at the prison walls, and the shadows frame him like a cage because he is institutionalized. Even in his room later, the ceiling beams frame him like prison bars. - Red: The camera is positioned inside the prison looking out. We watch him walk away from Shawshank and straight into the light. It’s a brilliant visual hint that while Brooks was mentally stuck, Andy gave Red the hope he needed to actually be free.
omg, love this movie!
Such a great reaction. Also kind of funny to have it as a companion to AOT. Men seeking freedom but using slightly different means to obtain it: Andy Dufresne and Eren Yeager 🤣
This was another excellent Stephen King novella.
The last monologue of Red always get me ... "I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope."
Brooks breaks my heart to pieces, the worst part of this story :( Also, when you said " He gave him (Elvis) dignity by having expectations from him", a brilliant line.
Great reaction! Please put Project Hail Mary in a poll, you’d love it!!
I knew you’d love this masterpiece of a movie. One of the greatest films ever made. You’re so smart and empathetic, this movie was made for people like you to watch!
2:28:34 "I guess I just miss my friend"
One of the best lines in the movie. Hits me.
Warden Norton is one of the greatest villains ever.
"And the only punishment for him was to spend a week in a dark hole." uh, I think this might be the worst thing ever 😂 feels like years in there. I'd probably go insane.
This movie is perfection. Morgan Freeman's narration is perfection.
One of the greatest films in my opinion. Stephen King is such a phenomenal author.
Shawshank Redemption, Apt Pupil and Stand by Me all came from the same collection of four novellas. GOAT.
I love this movie! Andy really plays the ultimate long game with his escape. So glad you liked it, SoFie. A few more drama films based on Stephen King novels that are worth a watch are Stand by Me and The Green Mile.
Also, I know horror isn’t for you, but if you ever decide to branch into it more, IT chapters 1 and 2 are great Stephen King adaptations.
One of the greatest films ever. So well put together. And it's an odd movie in that the protagonist is not really who the movie is about, because it's not Andy who gets redeemed, but Red, as we see in the end with his regained sense of hope and open, uncertain future. Beautiful. At some point you need to react to the other Frank Darabont written/directed movie based off of a Stephen King novella: "The Green Mile". Also brilliant, emotional...and set in a prison.
It IS a beautiful movie. Interesting that I remember clearly Brooks' story, but didn't remember if Andy was innocent or not.
A beautiful movie a beautiful reaction
It's good to see someone who is fully unspoiled of this movie. The hole behind the poster and the hammer in the bible are referenced so much in subsequent culture it's rare to see a reactor who is truly surprised at the twists.
I just love the empathy and understanding that you have for characters in films/shows. You were completely right. Belongingness is on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, and it’s something that humans have such a deep desire for. Thank you for watching this and showing such compassion for Andy, Red, and everyone in this movie. Your view on the variations in the types of imprisonment is so insightful. Throughout the movie, regardless of the bars, Andy seems to be the freest of them all. It’s such a gorgeous film.

Loved your reaction to this movie. In my opinion its just spectacular. Your analysis at the end was so great. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman are sensational in this movie, its a shame they never collaborated again. Thanks for this reaction and can't wait to see what's next.
