I went down a random McKamey rabbit hole on the internet and ended up finding both documentaries and then Reckless Ben which was the best finale to the story that I could have ever imagined. I think Ben does a great job in walking the line between troll and taking responsibility for the impact he's having. He is showing compassion and understanding in this interview, but as an extreme athlete I'm surprised he doesn't relate better to her struggle to stay away from the manor. I don't think gambling is the best analogy. There is personal achievement attached much more than just rolling a die. It's why people who climb, mountaineer, etc, enjoy 'type 2 fun'. A suffer fest, but something where at the end you can say 'I did it. I conquered something'. As a rock climber, I would compare it to measuring what a 'clean' send actually is. I need to do it without pulling on gear, taking, etc... There's always some measure by which your ego wants to diminish your own achievements and make you strive harder. That is what she's struggling with and it's an impossible struggle because as you pointed out, it's an impossible game.

Can we get this woman a deprogrammer? She appreciates this series but still... she believes on some deep level that her value as a person is tied up in winning a rigged "game." Because it's still not a game to her. The mind fuckery that goes into doing this to another person in the name of... what exactly? one guy's pleasure?... is unconscionable. To me it sounds less like gambling than, well, a horribly abusive relationship between two people. Also, where is the ethical or moral confusion about "taking something away" from Russ if he's hurting people? He's weaponized the experience he provides and so he deserves to be disarmed of it.

I went to the McKamey Manor Wikipedia page and added in the "media coverage" section about your exposé. I only added a sentence or two. Maybe others could flesh it out more? I also added the word "purported" to the first sentence, to indicate that it's a "purported haunted house."

i think she’s right he deserves to have it lost, you’re basically asking her the question “does a scammer deserve to keep scamming just because that’s all they have” that’s their fault not their victims fault. If they wanted to scam on this large of a scale or even just in general, they should’ve had a fall back for income incase their “operation” got taken down. so yes, he does deserve to be brought down.

She definitely likes being tortured to some degree.. but you can also tell she’s still fucked up from it.. idk i couldn’t imagine wanting to go back after knowing what’s gonna happen.. I guess whatever floats your boat. This is more like a torture chamber than a “haunted house”

This comment is meant for the end of the video. Long ago I thought about that too.. To take that away from him or to leave it and let it still happen.. My conclusion today is "The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few". Also I see Russ's "haunt" as his addiction. He needs it. Maybe if he was freed from that addiction he could find other things to do. He does enjoy singing and was a weeding singer once. Maybe he could finally find something healthy to do with his life. Maybe deep down, his haunt shutting down is what he needs. Mckamey Manor is a cancer for everyone involved. If you are able to remove that cancer Ben, then you would truly be a hero to a lot of people. Maybe even Russ although he would never know it.

I think if you can get it taken down it would be the moral thing to do. He's caused so much harm through it and continues to with his lies and scams. It needs to die off, and you've got the footage and information assembled to possibly have a chance. -Sam
