As someone who worked as an analyst in the film industry, I feel there is a bit of a disconnect between the way this part is presented compared to the first - it makes for a less compelling narrative. The reasons I personally resonate with the stories you share are due to your specific voice and the unique way you film and edit your content - I've never seen anything like it on any news platform, online or otherwise. This "traditional" documentary-style approach seems inconsistent because your process is so wonderfully non-traditional, which is why I believe part one is doing so well. I was expecting a long format, full expose, but instead it feels rushed, & lacks the total continuity to actually expose them to the world! Yes, the reporting was good, you got information out to the public that wasnt on people's radar, that should be. Thats a win, you documented some of the beginning's, & how it came to be, & had a few videos walking in there office & temple, but what happened next? There's so much more left unexplained, & uncharted.. Where are they now? All of them, Peter, Katie, Shwammy (or whatever), & i no we think the one guy escaped from LA to Mexico to India.. So i get that part! But why not go there & figure that out? Why not track down information on the other & expose him, & Peter & Katie for covering for these freaks & misleading the public! As I said before, the work you have done is good, but I think there's way to much being left out to be a actual nuisance that effects major change! I am a huge fan of Reckless Ben’s work but I have to be honest: the story is really interesting but the whole clown thing is just not it, at least in my opinion. It seems quite distracting and makes it feel corny, although the story is about something really important and interesting. I might be the only one that thinks this though. Halfway in: I had this feeling that this could be related to Transcendental Meditation. I don't know what it is but something is very wrong with that whole TM thing. I'm actually starting to wonder whether when my mother was introduced to one of the very early cults she founded with that guy who invented TM to spread it around the world. My mother told me, it was boring and she got a mantra and claims that's the entire story. She also said it was some small cult while naming TM and the founder of that movement as this indian guru her grandma was traveling the world with. Our family lived and still lives (as far as there remain any of us) in Germany and apparently my great grandmother was in a position to travel around the world while as my father tells me, the rest of the country was fighting hard to survive in the aftermath of the war... Anyways, this is only part of the story. For example, my mother was raped as a girl and the damage is obvious - but as she tells it, that was a one time thing where her father who was a heavy alcoholic came to her room at night - according to a former maid. I believed that when she told me 25 years ago when I was maybe 14 but having since learned a lot about what abuse does to a person and how it works, the trauma of a singular incident, even as bad as paternal rape, it just doesn't cause that much damage because humans are fucking great at adopting to even the most deadly situations and while I'm not a psychiatrist, I know her and I know a lot of people with heavy psychological disorders (myself included) and her symptoms seem to be more similar to my complex traumatization with dissociative splits than like someone who has a clearly defined, singular trauma to overcome. That would be really straightforward. Also, stuff that doesn't need to be public here. Going back: My great grandfather used to be a famous photographer and personal friend to the painters jawlensky and kandinski. My great grandmother had a driver's licence and was a master of photography like her her husband before the 20th century began. So, they were really upper class at the time. Also my great grandfather was not just photographing famous and powerful people but also he talked hours with them to get to know their personality as a private person and then he photographed them as those people. My point being: Whatever the TM movement claims, it was installed very effectively through a series of cults that then turned into a movement and even beyond got TM accepted in the spiritual scene as a standard method with many having no idea that it's only about a century old. And that was done by people who were not simply rich and connected but also art pioneers working on what was then an artistic perspective on psychological traits that had no common names yet but later, this work became very important in shaping the 20th century of the western world. Back to my suspicions: The psychological damage my mother had had already before I was born, it does speak to sexual abuse as a child much more than it points towards a single incident in young adulthood. I'm also very sure that it's highly complex trauma like what I have, also with no memories to truly explain that but only a bunch of stuff that would destroy a psyche but all at an age when the personality is already too deeply integrated to still split off alternative ego states. I know that alcoholism was a major factor which also explains a lot but not the whole picture. The next weird thing is that I have a mantra as well, just not consciously and it used to scare me as a child when I heard it in my head but couldn't grasp any words I could myself verbalise - until decades later, I realized that if I look at that through the lense of "could it be Sanskrit", it suddenly did sound like exactly that language. I don't think it's even my own mantra but I dunno. TM also is infamous for so-called "light brainwashing" wherein "light" assumably means that no drugs and no straightforward violence are used. I could never piece more than that together and the general knowledge that gurus of any kind usually start raping the daughters of the cult at some point. So, I could totally imagine that my mother who was 11 at the time may not only have experienced boring old ladies and been given a mantra but maybe there also was a part of that experience she blocked out as deep as she could since she trusted her grandmother like she trusted nobody else I think. I know this a lot of personal stuff and little about TM but that's just as far as I've gotten over the last decade with the little info I had. I still think there was a connection from TM to the modern child abuse guru cults. It's like I can feel it but it's removed from my perspective... If you know what I mean. Maybe someone else can add their infos and we approach this riddle together...
