I think this therapist handled this well. He made his recommendations, and they still wanted to go to this place. He didn't agree with the Dad and was not trying to convert or suggesting that this place could convert. A therapist is there to help the clients discover things for themselves. He didn't do anything wrong. They both wanted to try the school, he said he didn't agree but provided them with they needed to give it a try.

I kind of feel bad for the therapist. I think he was trying to do the right thing. Figured it could help strengthen their relationship by just humoring the dad. Ben seemed like he wanted to go to the school. Now the guy is plastered everywhere. I wish Ben would interview him separately after the fact.

Has this therapist been reported? If this was a real family - and I’m sure this happens often with real families - he failed to keep who he thought was a child safe. He bent and gave into an aggressive parent who wanted to send his child to a conversion camp because he kept pushing. It’s scary he said he’s in medical school, with this type of temperament of giving into what a parent wants VS what’s factual and keeps the client safe will let parents who perpetuate munchausen's by proxy run rampant. I wonder how many families have pushed for bad recommendations from this therapist.
A little confused about the title because this therapist is clearly not a conversion therapist. And that's a GOOD thing. I'm not saying he made the right call at the end but he was being led a bit unfairly. Therapists are not there to tell you what to do, in a situation like this, they're looking to build consensus and find a way to improve relationships. So when Ben starts suggesting it might be fun to attend the school the therapist gets sucked into that narrative as a way to bridge the divide between fake dad and fake Ben. It's totally unfair to the therapist. I seriously hope people do not give that therapist shit for this. It's clear he was uncomfortable and was honestly doing his best to try not to alienate fake dad while also supporting fake Ben. While this video is entertaining, it is also very cringy because I feel this is at the expense of a decent and innocent therapist and I hope his reputation is not tarnished by this Tomfoolery. Ben has a big audience now and I think he should maybe be more careful about how he does these things. At the very least, not title the video "conversion therapist" which this guy is clearly not. You could ruin this guy's life by calling him that. Hopefully he thought it was as amusing as we did, but I would be surprised if he did. Entertaining video, but maybe do better Ben?
