For example, he did not even *once* mention that Joshua Johnson, the guy who took over the BAM as the new franchise owner, repeatedly confirmed to Ben in a phone call that he was (a) in possession of the LEGOS (b) had them in the store itself, supposedly "stored in a back room." I like Coffee but he's not the arbiter of true/false or right/wrong. I thought his investigation into the situation was a bit lazy and relied too heavily on listening to what the people involved were saying, rather than independently verifying facts and information *regardless of* claims made by either side. This is what makes Ben's content so great. He goes straight to the source. He doesn't take people's words at face value. He puts in the work, even if it means traveling halfway across the country just to look into something. Doing a Zoom call and then digging to verify claims that "sound weird" is helpful, but it doesn't give the full story.

I feel like it’s stupid for me to put this here because why would he ever see it, but I just need to get this out of my head. Ben, I am on your side and so many hundreds of thousands of other people are on your side too. I do believe you’re 100% in the right as far as what happened so far. However, at this point, you really need to get a lawyer. And I don’t just mean for the civil case, I mean for the criminal case. I know it might seem like because you are the only person being charged criminally that what happens in the criminal case will not affect your friends and innocent people like the Mancels, but unfortunately, the system is what it is and it is SO corrupt, and everything you do on your own, not knowing the fullness of the law the way a lawyer would, is ultimately going to get you put in jail, and I believe that it is selfish to assume that that result would not affect the other parties in the civil case. I say it this way, and not focusing on you not having to go to jail because I know that you seem to care more about actual morality and injustice than about saving your own skin. My point here is that I believe your criminal case is not just your own skin on the line. I really think you need to think about the far reaching implications. Honestly, if you were to win this criminal case and mount a civil lawsuit successfully, you could actually do even more good in the world for people who have experienced similar injustices.
