I got interrogated by the police for about an hour, they couldn't find anything illegal I did, so they decided to arrest me for making a GoFundMe. Enjoy

Bruh... throwing us atheists under the bus... We have morals, too. Sorry to be a humbug on this. Just a pet-peeve of mine. I've been a long-time advocate for atheists and trying to combat this stereotype. I've given lectures on ethics and morals of non-believers. I love what you're doing to hold BMF accountable. Please don't stop. Just wanted to chime in on the atheist thing.

I think everyone in the comments is missing a major factor in their calculations here: This detention/arrest is illegal. It was without an arrest warrant and no reasonable suspicion of a felony. It was made without any accusation either. When they do a 6 person arrest without even pretending to have grounds or a warrant, it means they are lawless. Whatever Ben or anyone says after the illegal arrest is inadmissible due to fruit of the poisonous tree. Moreover, it creates a record that they were fully informed of the real Lego theft and did nothing. And it gave the AFPD another opportunity to shamelessly exhibit the most wanton disregard of law, due process and rights most people would have ever seen. So even though Ben suffered that day and has to defend these criminal charges which will not stick unless he has a lawless judge or his attorney betrays him (a very real prospect), in terms of the mission of getting justice for Bryan’s dad & family, it is invaluable. It may also contribute to getting these dirty cops fired

I hope a really good lawyer catches wind of this case and defends you until you win!!!!! You did a really good job staying calm here and explaining all the facts. And I understand you were hoping that explaining things would mean that they would see the error of their ways and let you go. But they are corrupt and you don’t need to talk to them and they’re just looking for ways to save their own asses. I sure hope someone is looking into that AirBnB owner, since the chief of police said that the owner “heard them talking about legos they’d stolen” (paraphrasing) and call the PD. I would definitely be questioning how they supposedly heard ANYTHING, since they aren’t allowed to be listening in on private conversations of their guests or recording them.

I do x-rays, and Ben is being incredibly stoic. I got goosebumps and dry heaved. Dislocating any joint is excruciating, reducing it back into place is equally terrible, and it will never ever fully recover. The shoulder in particular will often repeatedly dislocate with minor force until surgically stabilized. I'm so so sorry this happened to you, you can tell you didn't resist. 😔

The cult they're apart of down there is no joke. I'm surprised it wasn't worse. Utah is notorious for incompetent people in places of authority. They often use religious ties to get where they want to go. The state and church are so closely tied it's impossible not to have corruption and idiocy running ramped. It always sucks to see talent pushed away for someone with a religious rank to be brought in instead. Its no wonder they can't do anything om the name of justice could you imagine trying to do the right thing when you know brother Jimbo is just gonna have the church shun you and your family for doing so. No matter what you do you're always appealing to the church weather you recognize it or not. In short don't trust a religious group who raped and murdered wagon trains and blamed the Indians for it to have any sense of justice

You gave so much away and didn't use opportunities to let the interrogator show what he was fishing for. Keep up the good work, but step up and don't be too naive. In part 1, I heard someone on the phone asking, "Are you young?" That was an insight, and now you have to use that perspective to your advantage.

You dont have to give Miranda Rights until police decide to question you. They dont have to read you your rights if all they're doing is arresting you and bringing you to the station. And since they didn't question him until they got to the station they didn't have to read him his rights until that point

Dude, you and your friends seen seem to be unaware of how extremely illegal all of this was. You don't need to worry enjoy money for a lawyer. This is the biggest civil rights violation case in years, you NEED TO MAKE PART 2 PUBLIC, then you will literally have dozens of pro-bono civil rights attorneys tripping over each other to take your case for FREE. It will be national news within days of this going public. TV ews channels and major podcasters will be needing you guys for interviews. I know that you think that you need this patreon money, but trust me, after seeing the whole thing, this case is so serious that I guarantee you will not have to worry about money once this goes public, and millions more people will hear the whole story. The Lego story alone is pretty sad, but overall isn't the big of story on the national level, but the police corruption and rights violations are probably the biggest police corruption case in the country this decade., especially with so much of it on video. The police issues will be what gets you on CNN and the Shawn Ryan Podcast, not the Lego story — However, once you get these big interviews they will all obviously want to know what started it, and that will be your chance to let more people know about the Lego theft part of the story.

R
Raven Hippie · May 26, 2026

Don't trust any detective or police officer, especially in Utah and Oregon. They are looking for a reason to keep you. - Police departments exist to generate revenue for the county or city it serves. Law enforcement should be a nonprofit organization; instead, they are used as a way to strong-arm residents, especially residents that are vulnerable into paying fines for breaking the law. Fines should not be the only option: jails/prisons and community service. There is no need to give any government money outside of taxes, and I personally don't believe we should be giving that. Because it eventually is stolen due to fraud and corruption

What they did to you is so criminal, it would be investigated by the FBI. The primary federal agency responsible for investigating serious police misconduct like this—false arrest (as a “shakedown”) and tampering with/editing bodycam footage—is the FBI, working with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Civil Rights Division.10 Why the FBI and DOJ? • Color of law violations (18 U.S.C. § 242): This federal statute covers law enforcement officers who willfully deprive someone of constitutional rights (e.g., false arrest, unlawful seizure, due process violations) while acting under “color of law” (their official authority). False arrests and shakedowns fit here.0 • Evidence tampering/obstruction: Editing bodycam footage to hide admissions of no probable cause could involve federal crimes like obstruction of justice, destruction/alteration of records, or conspiracy. This strengthens a federal case.35 • The FBI is the lead investigative agency for these federal civil rights and color-of-law cases. They handle the evidence gathering, interviews, forensic analysis (e.g., of video metadata to detect edits), and coordination with prosecutors.25 • The DOJ Civil Rights Division investigates and prosecutes these cases (often alongside U.S. Attorney’s Offices). They also handle “pattern or practice” investigations into entire departments showing systemic issues.15 These are federal matters because they involve violations of U.S. constitutional rights by government actors. Local or state cases often start internally but can escalate federally if serious.16 Other Levels of Investigation • Internal Affairs / Police Department: Most complaints start here. They review bodycam footage (and would likely catch tampering). However, this is not independent. • Civilian Oversight Boards: In some cities, independent boards review misconduct. • State Agencies: Some states have agencies (e.g., state DOJ, police standards boards, or special prosecutors) that investigate officer misconduct. This varies widely by state. • Prosecutors: Local district attorneys can investigate/prosecute (e.g., for perjury, false arrest, tampering), but conflicts of interest are common since they work closely with police. Federal involvement (FBI/DOJ) is key for impartiality in egregious cases like this. How to Report It 1 Contact the FBI (local field office or tips.fbi.gov) — especially for civil rights violations.27 2 File with the DOJ Civil Rights Division (civilrights.justice.gov). 3 You can also pursue a civil lawsuit (e.g., under 42 U.S.C. § 1983) for damages, where bodycam tampering would be strong evidence. Note: Success depends on evidence (witnesses, other video, metadata proving edits, officer statements). Tampering with official records is a serious crime that can lead to federal charges against the officers involved. Consult a civil rights attorney for guidance on preserving evidence and filing.

It's crucial to avoid speaking with the police. Anything you say can be used to implicate you in a crime, even if there was no connection before you said a word. Your statements can easily be interpreted to create a link that didn't previously exist, putting you in a position where you have to defend yourself. Always have a lawyer available in your filming location, assert your right to remain silent, and clearly state that you won't answer any questions that could incriminate you. After that, refrain from saying anything else until you have legal representation.

Never talk to the cops, bro. You're getting a taste of small-town police in America. They move like gangs and don't have any real regard for the law. I have terrible anxiety with police, having grown up in a small town where it was like that. It will make you question everything about America, and you don't understand until you've experienced it. I'm glad you have this on video. Maybe you can find a way to expose corruption with police across America safely with a lawyer's advisory.

AI Analysis: Nicosia appears to be trying to build a record for stalking, trespass, and organizer liability. He keeps steering Ben toward: who organized the group, why they came to Utah, how they contacted Josh, whether the goal was to pressure or intimidate him, and whether Ben knowingly brought people to Josh’s home after prior police contact. In plain terms, he seems to be looking for admissions that Ben coordinated a group action aimed at Josh personally, not just lawful service of papers or journalism. Potential legal vulnerabilities in Ben’s statements: He talked after Miranda despite realizing refusal might affect jail. He gave a long, unfiltered narrative instead of answering narrowly. He admitted he organized or inspired others through Instagram. He used phrases like “take down a bad guy,” “funny plot point,” and “go viral,” which can be spun as a pressure campaign. He described repeated contact around Josh’s home, signs, religious pressure, and service attempts, all of which can be framed as a “course of conduct.” Bottom line: Ben gave Nicosia useful pieces for a theory of “organized intimidation/stalking,” but he also preserved a strong defense narrative: legal service, public property, no threats, no intent to intimidate, and speech/journalism.
