Probably worth pointing out that in Steamboat Willie, Mickey didn't yet have the white gloves, and I'm sure that's the type of thing Disney would sue over. (i.e., "It's not the public domain version that you're using, 'white glove' Mickey is still under copyright.") Anyhoo, I eagerly await "Steamboat Lottie". YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO.
Also since the film was in black and white, Disney will still own any treatment of the mouse in his signature color scheme.

Eh, Disney will find a way to extend the copyright, yet again.
It'd require something passed by Congress, at this point.
