Fill in Bobbins 12 of 12
It's my birthday today! Happy birthday to me. Happy... birthday. Here's the last of the rejected Bobbins strips.
You may be wondering what made these strips any worse than the ones that have run in the past. I'm not sure they are any worse, and I was going on okay until I got to this point and tried to work out what would happen next.
I tried plotting out a few different options that fit in with the original Bobbins strips. After all, in those, Holly is revealed to be quite unkind. But they all looked like they would take months -- months -- of strips to resolve.
This is the danger of improvising to fill a gap - I scamper up into the high branches of the tree, then get stuck there like a sad little cat with no fire brigade to help.
So until the day that I feel compelled to draw a further fifty Bobbins strips, these comics will remain our little secret.
They can't all be winners.
NEW SOLVER STORY STARTS ON MONDAY!

The 'traditional' way many webcomic artists deal with this sort of situation is to just quietly let their updates get further and further apart, until one day, years after the last update, the domain expires and is quickly snapped up by a seller of questionable anatomical enhancement products or the like. THANK YOU, John, for not doing that! (P.S. happy birthday!)
Happy Birthday!!
Happy birthday, John! You are one year closer to death!* *Death not available on all planes of existence.
Or, perhaps this all happened in an alternate Bobbins universe. In which case you can carry on from where ever you like. I believe alternate universes have become quite the thing in the comic-book world these days.
There. Are. No. Timelines. (I saved you the work, John.)
Happy birthday!
I can't help wondering who Holly's talking to. Clearly, someone who knows Shelley.
Many Happy Returns, John.
Happy birthday, John! I enjoyed this run up a slender branch, resolution or no.
Happy Birthday Mr Allison! I hope you have frolics planned. I like all Bobbins opportunities and don't particularly need resolution so this is totally fine and I have enjoyed seeing it. We all know Holly is shady. Her motivations can remain mysterious. I assume Shelley will/has dealt with this, and one day I might find out how, or not. It's all good.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Take your time. The day you will continue this story, I will be really happy to read it.
A beautifully-drawn vignette of a mini-series can stand by itself, it doesn't _have_ to come to a dramatic conclusion - we can just enjoy it for what it is. And we do.
Happy birthday John!
A very happy birthday! And while I'll happily wolf down as much Bobbins as I can get, there's something appealing about having these limited-run vignettes. I don't mind that there isn't a "The Next Morning..." strip following this one; my imagination can dream up a few likely paths from this moment to a few years from now, and I enjoy doing it.
I find stories about cats scampering up into the high branches of trees compelling. It is true that Art demands Resolution, but life itself rarely bothers with such niceties.
Happy birthday and best wishes to you !
Yet another Happy Birthday for you. This has been an interesting journey with the rejected strips. I definitely get the part about knowing what needed to happen next but not being excited to actually execute it all. Thanks for sharing with us anyway. And I'm SUPER excited for more Solver!
Happy Birthday John. Creative blocks happen, but I love that the interactive medium of webcomics allows the artist to share insights about the creation process with the audience and bounce ideas around.
Happy Birthday, sir!!
Happy Birthday, sir! And here's to many more!
Happy birthday, John! Hope it's been a good one.
Happy birthday and thank you for years and years of art. Especially Steeple, which I adore.💕
Best wishes and safe travels on your next lap of the Sun.
HBD JOHNNY!!
Months and months of strips in this storyline would be just fine with us. And also Happy BD, of course. And I recognize it's more a BoomStudios thing, but almost a quarter of a million dollars raised on Kickstater! Woo-Hoo! Shows the lasting power and the love for John Allison content. Long live Giant Days.
Thank you John, and congratulations on another successful circuit round the sun.
Happy birthday to you 🙂
Happy birthday! And I, for one, think there's a good story to be told by following Shelley's response to this information.
I DEMAND A FURTHER 50 BOBBINS STRIPS!!!!! Also, happy birthday.... Also, also, yay more Sover!
Happy birthday! (Though I guess we're the ones getting the presents, if we're getting a new Lottie story.)
Happy Birthday!
Happy Binday John!
Happy Birthday!!!
Happy birthday 🎉 🎂
