When I didn't make "NEMS Part 2" part 1
Earlier in the year I wrote the second part of the "NEMS" story from 2020. I wasn't happy with the results and I consider it undrawable, at least, by me. So here, as a PDF download, is the rough comic script for all 32 pages of it it. Think of it as a very slapdash 32-page comic featuring a lot of funny faces.
I'll follow up with a commentary on what is in it (which you may or may not be able to decipher based on your cryptography skills). Because while I don't want to make this comic, it does have a lot of fun ideas in it that I can go through.
If reading it leaves you with specific questions, stick them in the comments and I'll try to answer them. Now... ASSUME BRACE POSITION!

Sad that it can never be, glad to have seen the storyline. Thanks!
Glad to see Esther find her calling, and Cilla her comeuppance. I don't care if it didn't make it to completion, I'm quite satisfied with what we got - it sure beats a foot through the continuum!
Totally answerable question: what kind of notebook are these all drawn in?
Leuchtturm 1917 dotted notebook!
Probably unanswerable questions: 1. Does John Lennon still spend the early 70s drunk on Harry Nilsson's couch? 2. Does David Bowie co-write "Fame" with Freddie Garrity? 3. Does Time Bandits still get made? If so, who does the soundtrack? Gerry and the Pacemakers? 4. Do Neil Innes and Eric Idle write a bunch of parody songs for a mocumentary about Ruddie Rarrity, loosely based on Garrity's life? 5. Does Steve Howe replace George in the Travelling Willburies?
And who plays the Zappa stand-in in 200 Motels? Mike Nesmith?
I remember reading your post about NEMS Pt2 being un-drawable, but I can’t locate it. Which pages and panels trouble you? You appear to have worked out the general composition well. Is the problem in the chase scene or NEM on NEM fight, both of which seem a bit more abstract than the rest? Or is your brain adding a bunch of complexity to the panels when trying to go from draft to finished product? Something else entirely?
See today’s commentary post.
Thank you, Johnny.
I love the alternative Beatles lyrics. Well done.
If the non-drawing of a new Esther story isn't enough to trigger a collapse of the space time continuum, then the continuum must be very robust indeed.
See, if that was me, I would have been so proud of myself for coming up with "Quickly. Before Cilla Black puts her foot through the space time continuum" I wouldn't have been able to stop myself from drawing it.
Thanks for that, it may be undrawable, but it is still fun!
