Also, "Voight-Kampff, Myers-Briggs and Dunning-Kruger" - lol, had to clean the coffee off my keyboard. Myers-Briggs is in good company! I've missed out on millions by not taking jobs writing software EXACTLY like that.
I've loved Lottie since I met her. She is, as we Silicon Valley nerds like to say, 'so meta'.
There's something delightful and refreshing about one of the big characters who might normally be primed to become a swashbuckling adventurer having crazy adventures realising she wants to be a career advisor and/or help her mates figure their shit out. Loved it.
The warmth this brings me is so difficult to put into words....maybe it's because I'm 22 and dealing with some of the same things, but I felt so much more of that trademark Allison Resonance™ reading this than I have in a while.
Thanks Jen. That feeling isn't easy to capture. If I could get it every day, I'd use it, believe me.
I was literally giggling throughout this story. Such a delight! In the past, I may have been a little skeptical of the Lottie-Claire pairing (maybe out of loyalty to the original dynamic duo of Lottie & Shauna), but I really like their interactions here. Like everyone, I yearn to know more about poor Glönn. Is this a setup for Giant Days 2: Gianter Days? I would not complain a bit.
Oh, man. I just read through again and laughed *even more*. There may have been chortling.
Only 10 pages in, my delight mounting with every panel, then I have to stop so I don't choke laughing on my tea and chocolate digestive. Voight- Kampff! 🤣🤣🤣
Dunning-Kruger!
This is amazing. Jobby! Another blow for ladder safety awareness. A cheese coffee variant that I was not aware of. Ferb.
Something’s definitely up with poor terrified Glemm. I love the larval puffa-man. Also something about the seating in the Nordic Bakery does it for me. Wonderful work! 💟
I will wake tomorrow after dreaming of cheese coffees.
ah, the dread to-be-continued...
Fortunately it doesn't take too much gas to get Lottie's hot air ballon up in the sky for its next go around.
This is so amazing.
Also x2: the haunted look in Glemm's eyes. He's seen things that no careers advisor should have ever seen.
Also: that was the Lottie/Katamari Damacy crossover that I never knew I needed.
Wayne Industries are responsible for the building work at LSE? This explains a great deal.
That was a good story, love the wardrobe choices for Lottie here - it hit me in a lot of my anxieties as it seems to have done for other readers, especially with the uncertainty of 'the next step' present in the characters' dilemmas. It's an odd sensation seeing Lottie becoming quieter and feeling a little liminal, and I can't help but feel like her mum does in parts with not knowing how best to help her while still feeling like Lottie in the overall situation too. I wish both Lottie and Claire the best in the world going forward
Where do you come up with all of the wonderful clothes? I’m also suddenly interested in seeing if I can get every four-letter combination on a myers-brigg…on purpose!
Wow! That was an unexpected lightening of my Monday morning!
Oh, that hit harder than you can know. We're navigating/stumbling our way through this right now. Thank you for the lightness, insight and perspective in equal measure.
My Sunday evening hopes answered!
Thank you!!
Great comic John! Those struggles ring true and it’s such a great subject to tackle. Great and at times moving read!
Wow, this is great! I can't wait to see Claire and Lottie.
Believe it or not, I wrote that comment *after* reading the comic... what I meant to say is "I can't wait to see MORE OF THIS STORY FEATURING Claire and Lottie." But hey, it still stands as is.
So dang delightful
I love it and I haven't even begun to read it!
Interesting. Honestly, not what I was expecting with a title like "Solver", but... I like it. (But then, it's new Lottie content; liking it was pretty much a given.) (Still... hope to see more "Solver" in the future.)
Well, like I say on the Bad Machinery site, it was what I had at the top of my head after throwing away 64 pages of mystery story, sorry it wasn't a fully featured mystery.
That was really good - Claire's dilemma definitely rings true from my university days.
I liked it. Better than Cats. I want to read it again and again.
Wonderful to see some old friends return! (I'm speaking, of course, of Bran 'N' Bran cereal and the "don't tit about on ladders" poster).
Delighted to see a return of the British Ladder Council and their sensible and timely advice.
