I’m so late to the party. I’ve loved the Steeple volumes and was sad that more were not published. What an absolute goldmine this Patreon has proved to be. I am so happy to find all these new Steeple stories <3
Excellent that you found them here, Emma. Thanks for letting me know that you did!
Sorry if this has been asked before but when you commission these covers do you have the artist read the whole script, give them an executive summary, just ask for a general theme? I'm curious what the process is.
I have been working far enough ahead that I gave them artwork for the whole issue. In monthly comics, the process for variant covers is often that you work from the script or even just a brief synopsis. Often there will be concept art/an earlier issue to crib from. There were certainly issues of Giant Days where the cover art was done months ahead of my writing the script. I can remember one issue where the cover art led me to modify the tone of the issue to match it better. Once I understood the process, I would try to make it very clear in my synopses what the issue was about.
So, so good. I loved the interaction between Clovis and Brian. There's nothing like age old enemies who have known each other for decades and probably have more in common than with people on the own 'sides' :)
Loving the story so far and this cover is epic!
QUITE A BIT.
And once again, that cover is pure magic.
I managed to pace myself through parts 1 & 2, reading them as they came out on the web, but I gobbled this one up in one go. So good. And page 11 is just *chef's kiss*! Poor Magus Tom.
I am loving Steeple!!!
Steeple is magic. It just gets better and better. I’m completely invested in these characters and this world.
AWESOME! I feel like I've been waiting for this forever... I read them all at once when we get the preview and then I read them again as they trickle out across the RSSwebs. I'm ready for more! (so happy!!)
I am also enjoying the story a lot! I had Trident pegged as more of a Scientology type thing, but I guess this is almost as good.
I was thinking of "Alpha", the evangelical Anglican course of study that was heavily promoted without using any religious imagery a few years ago. It was very difficult to tell what it was from the posters. Obviously there is a bit of Scientology in there too.
I AM ENJOYING THE STORY A LOT!
I can honestly say I don't know of any other form of media these days who more perfectly embodies the intersection of creepiness and silliness as your stories in Steeple. I worry sometimes about my feelings about Maggie, given that she's not, well, real in the usual sense. I suppose I should simply write her some fan mail and hope she's not offended.
Ye haw, ya'll!
