Steeple chapter 11 Work In Progress
With writing on the crossover complete and the artwork half done, the next story up on the drawing board is a 4-part Steeple arc. In my work folder, I’ve continued the issue numbers from the Dark Horse issues (1-5) so Silvery Moon was issues 6 & 7, Secret Sentai was 8 & 9 and Christmas With Clovis was issue 10. The crossover is strictly speaking a "special" (it is reasonably special, I think) so above is my rough cover for issue 11. It might end up looking completely different but it has... something about it.

Haha, adequate sounds good to me—I just purchased Anyfont! Thank you again, John! 🙏
Thank you very much for sharing your process/experience with the iPad, John! That blows me away that it can handle 600 dpi. So you can legitimately get print quality. Wow, okay, that’s amazing. I feel like if I could install a good font manager, I could handle actual projects on it—I switched from a Surface Pro 3 to an iPad, and you’ve very much inspired me to try to get more out of it! Thank you again for the (literal) pro tips!
I think the font manager (Anyfont) I use cost £1.59 and it does the job... adequately!
Marvelous! When the comics book will came out, I will buy it faster than ever.
I was a late dunce to Steeple. I’ve since read it through twice, and it’s just magic. I absolutely cannot wait for the crossover with Lottie. Can I ask a process question? Do you do your finished art on an iPad? Or just sketches that you port over to a computer? Seeing your image makes me curious if an iPad can handle a big file for print without loss in print resolution. Of course, please ignore if this is super boring or if I’m asking secrets.
I'm always here to answer technical questions - I have no secrets about how I do things.
I feel bad about ignoring Steeple during the Dark Horse run. I have this attachment to webcomics and "dailies" due to a childhood fixation on Peanuts and Calvin & Hobbes and the like, was never much of a comic book person, so just figured that it wouldn't be my speed. So, so wrong. Steeple, like everything else JA has touched, is just brilliant. I have no idea whether the future for this kind of work is dead trees or patreonage or NFTs, but from now on I'll get in line wherever that may be.
