Read BLIGHT (part 2) in full, now
Here's part 2 of BLIGHT. Will Esther and Peter discover the sources of the bovine sickness? Will farmers set the smallholding alight? And are pitchforks as popular as they ever were, or have they been superseded by newer, more elegant rabble-rousing implements?
(If you missed the PDF version of part 1, it's here.)
A print version of this story will be out from my usual stockists in November.
Your PDF is linked beneath the cover art. if you enjoyed it, please leave me a note.

Thank you John!!
Oh, Esther, love your work. Late on this, but I love a bit of Susan Ptolemy too.
Really enjoyed this .There are a lot of highlights, but "it’s me. I’m the desert trolley. I just am." was my favorite.
Binged both parts and hugely enjoyed them. As someone who first discovered your work via Giant Days, lovely to have more extended Esther stories. The page towards the end of her returning to the present was fantastic.
The resolution of the underlying mystery is bittersweet here (and I'm not so sure it ended happily for all the inhabitants of Throstlecliff, if page 25 is any indication), but the reveal of Esther's, uh, reputation at the ministry was a nice laugh to go out on.
Thank you for the surreptitious use of the word 'beeves'. It's one of my favourite words and one I attempt to use as often as I can. Since I eat a lot of beef, that's not as hard as you would think.
That cover is indeed triffic.
"If" I enjoyed it? Good sir, there is no "if"; it's a certainty! (Yes, I did enjoy it.)
I think they did a story like this on heartbeat once
Just read the first part, it’s great! But… SUSAN! :O
As is the second part.
Delighted to hear about the print version; can't wait. On a semi-related note, would you ever consider doing a print version of "Author Unknown" (possibly as a double feature with "Murder She Writes")? I reread the former when you reran the latter this summer, and had a whale of a time. I would love to have it on my shelf, so I'd be able to refer back to Charlotte saying "I'm godless, preacher man. Don't give me any of your high-handed flim-flam" any time my fancy strikes
It's in Steeple volume 3 from Dark Horse - still available!
Thanks Jon!
Wow, I love this. Thank you!
I've been enjoying part one so far, thanks for continuing to make strange british comics!
I put that form in to the ministry, but I all I got back from them was confusion...
I read the dailies, I am letting you know now, that part one was fun, and I cannot wait to see where it goes.
Actually I wait on purpose, so what am I talking about? But I am looking forward to it. The daily updates keep the day to day fun, which I need.
Thank you so much, John! I knew from this delicious cover I'd be in for a good time, but this issue has everything you could possibly want in Destory History; action, suspense and the best Esther and Nemulon 14 Team Up moves to date!
There were scrapped plans for an Esther to face a vampire in Giant Days, with the final product having it be offscreen. Cool to see that idea realized in a series where that tonally fits better. Also that cover goes ridiculously hard.
"And looked amazing doing it ..." Correct.
Thank you! I love Esther stories. And your time travel stories are always welcome.
In my opinion, one of the prettiest covers ever. Love it!
Gorgeous cover!
That was wonderful (especially the wrap up). Thank you so much!
Per my usual method, I will wait for the dailies to read this. But I'm telling you that I enjoyed it now, because I shall.
