Read SOLVER #13 (WOBBLY HEAD pt 2/4) in full now

Happy new year!

The sharp-eyed will spot that this story has gained a part. I was near the end of drawing part two when I spotted that I had an opening to develop things in an interesting way. I inserted a chapter with the final part already written, do not try this at home.

The NEW part 3 will begin in late February. Your PDF for part 2 can be downloaded under the cover. Here's to another year of fun stories, I will do my best for you.

I'm not done yet but I am surprised I have not yet seen anyone refer to the imposter as a Charlottan

Will you sue if I steal that for part 4?

I just realized that the page where the doppelgänger correlates Claire to being Lottie’s “security blanket” could be a clue at her motives Like this Bad Charlotte lost someone she was close to a long time ago

Loving Solver!! And I pity all those who haven’t figured out that the doppelgänger is Super Derek

The clues are so obvious.

I have so been enjoying Solver! I came across your work via Bad Machinery on GoComics in the US about a decade ago, then did a deep dive on ScaryGoRound, which left me pretty completely hooked on your universe. I'm consistently amazed at how you manage to create these extremely compelling, individualistic characters, and that you're not afraid to let them change and grow. It was hard to see Charlotte and Shauna go on separate paths, but it's marvelous to see the magic in the new trio of Grote, Little and...wait...what's Glenn's surname?

J
John Allison · January 5, 2025

It's Durgan. Glenn Durgan.

For some reason, I'm just utterly tickled by the last two panels at the bottom of page 5. "Forgiven."

I went to All Star Comics in Melbourne, Australia today, to buy Steeple #2 and #3. I’d already checked that they were on the shelves, so I grabbed them and went to the counter. "I love John Allison!" said the lovely person at the counter, and we proceeded to share our excitement about Kill or be Quilt 😊

Waaaaaa! I can't wait for part 3. Incredible stuff John!!

Has your idea for the identity of the killer remained the same since planning out Wicked Things, or have you changed your mind at all in the time since it concluded? I can’t recall if WT had any real hints besides “there are two of them” and Lottie’s summoning to Miyamoto’s room having possibly been a deliberate lure, meaning there’s some flexibility in that regard, and we now know Skelotton’s beef with Lottie is personal enough to where she tries murdering Claire. That is assuming this imposter actually IS the killer, since iirc there hasn’t actually been a complete connection between what’s happening right now and the murder attempt on Miyamoto. Lottie assumes she is, but who knows.

I'm not going to discuss any ongoing plot points even in the abstract, sorry!

Had we but world enough, and time, I would scour the Tackleford archives for possible perpetrators of this crime.

Excellent story!

I'm calling it now: it's Super Derek. Never did trust that guy.

That was really good - I was amazed at how much you packed into the issue, and it felt like it had more pages than it actually did. The multiple Claires on page 3 of the pdf was also very effective.

Happy new year! Thanks for the present! I do appreciate how Claire knows that a good answer to many of life's stresses and confusions is to have a lie-down.

Happy New Year, Johnny!

I have a handful of guesses as to who the killer’s identity is, but I’ll wait for part 3 to start making some serious judges. Very intrigued as to what’s gonna happen in the second half of Wobbly Head, and here’s hoping you have a much better 2025.
