Introducing the Sons of Marduk
As we announced in our latest roadmap, in 2024 we are embarked in a new visual and artistic journey in Patreon where we are developing new fantasy races and miniatures to grant you a deeper knowledge of the art and style behind the future fantasy races and a bigger voice in the design process before the time arrives to select the future fantasy races that will come to Highlands Miniatures.
We previously announced the concept art for the Aegean Elves, a mighty and majestic fantasy race, and today we would like to introduce the Sons of Marduk, our future evil dwarfs.
Introducing the Sons of Marduk
The Sons of Marduk gather inspiration from the Assyrian and Babylonian cultures of the ancient ages. Marduk, in Mesopotamian religion, is the chief god of the city of Babylon and the national god of Babylonia; as such, he was eventually called simply Bel, or Lord.
The influence of the Neo-Assyrian and other Mesopotamian images and representation of their deities and warriors -like those you can find currently in the British Museum in London- will play a huge role in the design of these miniatures.
Also, many of you may remember that we already did an early design for the evil dwarfs back in 2023. Even tho we were happy with the overall design, it lacked some of these Mesopotamian references and ideas these miniatures should bring to the table.
We have replaced the previous rounded scale armour with a smaller and pointy one. The same goes for the pauldrons and the wrist armour. We have replaced the chainmail for more scale armour and leather straps with a pointy motif. Finally, we have replaced the helmet with a bigger one, more in line with the previously mentioned representation . There will be more helmets variations for the entire line of Sons of Marduk dwarf miniatures, including some short helmets for alternative units.

A comparison shot between a Sons of Ymir dwarf miniature and a Sons of Marduk dwarf miniature. The proportions will remain the same across all our dwarf miniatures.

I know mamy many people will want these
CAN NOT WAIT!!!!!
This is making me so happy. Your dwarves are second to none, and these look amazing!
they need bigger hats ;P
Would you guys consider making a rework of your movement trays? When scaling upwards (to 25mm), some of the details get uncomfortably large. Love your work!
Perfect :)
I’m looking forward to these. Am I right in assuming there will be plans for hobgoblins and black orcs to go alongside the dwarfs?
ohhhhhh i need these in my life
wow!! extra, im waiting, I just joined and subscribed even though I don't have a printer yet ;( Does anyone have ANYCUBIC PHOTON MONO 2 and can tell me if it will work? with surface 165 x 89 x 143 mm / 6.5 x 3.5 x 5.6 inch (HWD)
I love these! perfect combination of nostalgia and modern aesthetic.
Beyond hyped for this release! Eager to see the rest of the sculpts.
Love your stuff have backed you for a while now. This is the most excited I have been about anything you produced. So much so I had to tell my wife about it and she just looked at me because she had no clue about what I was talking about.
Looks good!
These are amazing and I can't wait to see more.
Love it! Would prefer if the shields were metal though to lean into the industrial side of things.
Glad you like them David! The shield will be modular and there will be plenty to choose!
I would appreciate seeing the arrow aesthetic toned-down. I would love to use them as Infernal Dwarves in T9A and the arrow reminds me too much of a chaos symbol which they have no link with
Who needs elves when he can get dwarfs?
Nice idea, but then required is entire army with all kind of the models. So from priority perspective i like way more idea to finish first eternal dynasty
We will continue working on the Eternal Dynasties this summer!
I think you got the style perfectly. Great balance between your own idea and the classic look of Warhammer 4-5ed, but without the goofiness :)
All my dreams have come true <3
Design is great as usual! Can’t wait to print it even if they are a bit short for wood elves….. 😂
haha those hippie elves will eventually arrive, for real!
I really like your approach of historical accuracy combined with fantasy elements. What gorgeous Tomb King models this could bring to us... <3 I just hope they won't get demoted to a Halloween-Special-only-race :P
Glad you like them Daniel! We will continue working on our Eternal Dynasties fantasy race soon. You can find the first set of miniatures in our MyMiniFactory store: https://www.myminifactory.com/users/Highlandsminis/collection/eternal-dynasties
Love it!
Yesssss!!!, amazing!!!. I really love this race!!
Amazing!!!
Very good but unfortunately I don't care one bit about this race....I'll wait it out
Glad you like them Harry! This fantasy race may or may not come in the near future based on the results of the fantasy poll we will publish in a couple of months for our patrons to decide which fantasy races will come to Highlands Miniatures after this summer!
I want them now, I have been searching for decent "not so good dwarves" models for so long. I can't wait, to get my hands on them.
Glad you like them Martin!
Amazing work! Been really really wanting to play a faction like this. Can't wait to see more of these guys!
ahh very cool - more that I will have to paint when they become a reality!
Im ready to start printing
Yes u guys are knocking it out the park
More Dwarves!!!! 🥰
Now it's just a matter of being selected by patrons in the future poll!
I need bigger hats! Bigger!
Tall hats for Hashut!
Awesome!
Thank you Andy!
Looking forward to these! Look great
Glad you like them Josh!
Love the design on them! Fantastic work as always. The way old mate his holding his axe looks a bit awkward though, can't put a finger on why
Glad you like them Nicholas! The weapon hand of the warriors with hand weapons and shields will be modular so there will be a selection of weapons available for these guys!
YES, more silly hats!
Glad you like them Christian!
