December 2023 Preview: the Armoured Tide!
Good evenings lads and lasses!
Hope you are all having a great -and greenish- November. A few weeks ago we welcomed a new great fantasy race to Highlands Miniatures Patreon: the Moredhun's Orcs!
Today we continue our efforts to bring more medieval inspired fantasy orc miniatures to the Orcish Tide while we take our first look at some of the miniatures coming this December 2023 to Highlands Miniatures: a new incredible set of heavy armoured orcs, heavy equipment and more!
But first, what does Ramon have to say?
As you may know, for the last few months we have been starting from scratch or for the first time some of our current fantasy races, like Gallia, the Orcs or the Eternal Dynasties. We have tried to bring a big set of miniatures to perfectly quickstart your collection of these armies, and know it is time to continue the development of these armies at a proper pace, as we discovered a few weeks ago in our current Roadmap for 2024.
So, in today's preview we take a look at more advanced units coming to the Moredhun's Orcs this December, like the big Armoured Orcs unit that come with a few miniatures as two-handed armoured orcs and another few with hand weapons and shields. The hand with the shield will be modular, allowing you to create also Armoured Orcs with double weapons.
The Orc Boar Chariot is a classic miniature so there isn't much surprise there. It is sculpted over a 100x50mm square base and it will come split in several pieces for an easy printing and painting.
The Orc Stonethrower has been one of the funniest miniatures we have sculpted in a long time. We really like to add some goblins when we can as they usually bring this funny and mischievous touch that always works great.
We have had a blast sculpting these miniatures so we hope you like them!
The December 2023 Release will be composed of:
10x Armoured Orcs with two handed weapons, hand weapons and shields
3x Armoured Orcs Command Group
1x Orc Boar Chariot
2x Orc Boar Chariot Crew
1x Orc Stonethrower
4x Orc Stonethrower Crew
1x Mounted Orc Chief
1x Orc Shaman
1x Great Orc Shaman
Now... let's dive into it!

Loving the Boar Chariot! Best version out there!
Is there an option for a normal counterweight on the catapult? The goblins are fun, but don’t seem like they’d weigh enough.
I just printed the free Orc Archer. Man, he's HUGE. Does that match with a UK company sizes, or will that require a resize? Looks great and printed like a dream, as usual!
yeah they're the same size dude =)
Gimme dem chariots!
Are there going to be any crew with axes for the chariot or only spears
It must be the WAAAGGGHHH!!! These Guys brought a big smile to my face. They will be fun.
Love your work, but the orc armour seems a bit bland imho, lots of clean flat surfaces... feel like it needs some decals, spikes , battle damage and asymmetrical qualities...
I feel like the armor could use some spikes or at least some battle damage. They are Orcs after all... 🤔
While we do not like spiky things, we will try to and some battle damage to the Armoured Orcs!
Nice, I love the catapult!
