About the Dwarf Deathseekers
As you already know guys, the Sons of Ymir are based on the norse aesthetic and background, but for this set of miniatures we have gone a bit to the west in order to find inspiration from our always amazing antiquity and middle age real world!
This time we went for the Celts and Picts iconography and appeal to create the Dwarf Deathseekers. Probably all of us have the same image of the shirtless pict warrior with blue tattoos around his body -at least we have it- and we couldn’t not bring it to life through these miniatures. For the skirts and details, the celtic references has played a central role also to help us settle the kind of clothes and details these miniatures will carry.
👉🏼 If you want to learn more about these peoples, you can check this pages about the Picts HERE or HERE, and check out these pages about the Celts HERE, HERE or HERE.
About the dynamism of these miniatures, we are paying a tribute to Frank Frazetta and many other fantasy illustrators from the seventies and eighties that used to create powerful barbarian illustrations, and to be more specific, to Conan the Barbarian, where the vast majority of poses are coming from.
But of course, we couldn’t also miss the chance to bring something from our bonnie Scotland, and as we are already talking about Picts and Celts… in the miniatures you can see an interpretation of the Scottish sporran. You can learn more about it HERE
We are expending an insane amount of time in these miniatures due to the big role of the anatomy in the overall design of the miniatures, that is why we wanted to focus the entire release around the Deathseekers.
Also, this is the first time we have created female dwarfs! We know that there is -and there will be- a lot of debate about female dwarfs almost everywhere, from fantasy tabletop games to multi-million fantasy productions (ehem... Rings of Power... ehem...) but we are quite happy with how our strong and powerful female dwarfs look.
Now we are working on the hero male and female seekers, the Trollseekers, the Giantseeker, the Dragonseeker and the Daemonsekers. These hero miniatures will come with a scenic decorated 40x40mm base and a playable 20x20mm base.
Along the next weeks we will be showcasing them one by one to give them the importance they deserve!
Beware, beware guys… the Deathseekers are upon us!

Any chance we'll see some death seekers with their axes on chains at some point in the future? Maybe you could call them Doomseekers...
Would love to use the heads for votann. Are they seperate from the body? Looks amazing
Hi there! Due to the big amount of anatomy visible and the dynamism of the miniatures, these heads aren't modular. We may create a set of modular pieces in the future to customize other miniatures! :)
Pa cuando el pony????
It is absolutly perfect for slay... hmm deathseeker. And it is allways netter to have one clearly perfect unit as more only 80percent. and i really like the anatomy if this unit, not only short humans. Please keep up work.
Thank you for your comment Dirk, glad you like the miniatures! We really wanted to create a focused release around these miniatures as they require a lot of time to be created due to the amount of anatomy and dynamism of the miniatures; and being a single sculptor, the biggest challenge is always to fight against the schedule!
I never thought about female deathseekers but I'm so happy to see them, it'll be a great add to the unit diversity ! I really appreciate the choice of a thematic release centered on deathseekers and not mixing it with an ingeneer or a priest release out of context, and to prefer to keep them for an other month maybe also centered on those theme.
Thank you for your comment Julien, glad you like the miniatures! Yes, we really wanted to create a focused release around these miniatures as they require a lot of time to be created due to the amount of anatomy and dynamism of the miniatures. Now we are working on the hero miniatures for the seekers, we hope to be able to preview the first one soon! :)
Love these soo much. The ladies fit in perfectly.
I had better start practicing my Ginger Beard painting!
haha you still have a few weeks to practice before these miniatures arrive! :P
Hâte de voir les héros, et surtout les héroines^^
Those are really cool. Any chance of making some in celtic-style pants, like featured in one of the links you provided?
Glad you like them! The ucpoming seekers hero will have pants! :)
great work Ramone, I really like these slayers I mean Deathseekers :P they look great to paint. Looking forward to what else you have planned.
Glad you like them Nathan! So sad I only have two hands as I would to bring everything right now! haha
Tbh i would love to switch 2 hero slayers into 2 other heroes like engineers or rune Smith's :( Even tho the models look gorgeous, I think that release is not varied enough :/
And I have feeling that this is the least packed dwarf release
Wow!
Glad you like them Trevor!
Oh you had me fooled. The December preview video with the axe cutting the wood I was absolutely certain we’d be seeing Rangers However I’m not complaining! These are amazing! Love the focus on heroes this month as well and the Dwarven women look fantastic. Thank you for these!
hahah we honestly were looking just for a video with an axe, we didn't think about it! Glad you like the miniatures Karsten, thank you for your support, as always! :D
A slayer is a slayer. I have no doubt they will look good, but it is a bit of a bummer, because when you posted that there would be lots of heroes, I didn’t expected x variants of slayer heroes.
Hi Tonny! We wanted to create an entire set of seekers, not to create just a bunch of basic seekers and to have to come back again another month to keep working on them As we stated in the post, "we are expending an insane amount of time in these miniatures due to the big role of the anatomy in the overall design of the miniatures, that is why we wanted to focus the entire release around the Deathseekers." Maybe if we keep growing and we keep receiving the support of the community we can increase our team from one sculptor to a few more to help us bring more amazing miniatures to the table!
Lots of simular heroes, but no runepriest. Imo, compared with the other dwarf releases, this is to onesided. Imo, ofcourse ;-)
These won't be similar heroes :)
Oh lord yes!!! <3 <3
The time for the Deathseekers has finally come!! :)
Awesome! Deathseeker is such a badass name for them as well
Glad you like them Leaf, thank you for the support!!
Brutal, y con matadoras!!!
Muchas gracias Bruno!! Nos ha costado pero teniamos ganas de traer ya enanas al ejercito!
holy dwarf apocolypse batman, these are slayertastic
haha thank you very much Steve, glad you like them!
J'adore!!!
Glad you like them Benjamin!! :)
Now all they need is a dwarven shield maiden unit...
The Valkyries will come, we can guarantee that!
I love the style, the thought that went into them, and the females.
Thank you very much Thannak!! It has been quite challenging to work on these miniatures, specially the female dwarfs as it was our first time doing them, but we are quite happy with the final result! :D
I've had my fingers crossed for these, and they're better than I imagined 😁
Thank you very much for the confidence and support Will, glad you like them! :D
