First preview of the January 2022 Release!
Good evening guys! 鈽冿笍
Last post of the year to talk about the January 2022 Release and the first previews!
First of all, we wish you all a very happy New Year! 馃帀馃帄 Hopefully this new year will make an end of the pandemic and will bring us a new era of social, technology and economic development for all! We are anxious to see the future of the 3D printing world!
In the last poll we did in November you voted for "Discover what is behind the smoke trails in the mountain lands of Khazaria: Khazarian Ogres Warriors and Khazarian Ogres Gunners" to be the January 2022 Release, so... time to bring some ogres to Highlands Miniatures!
The January 2022 will be composed of:
Khazarian Ogres Warriors
5x Khazarian Warriors Core Unit
3x Khazarian Warriors Command Group
Khazarian Ogres Gunners
4x Khazarian Gunners Core Unit
3x Khazarian Gunners Command Group
Imperial Steam War Machine
1x The Iron Opinicus of Wittemberg
About the Eastern Khazars
The Eastern Khazars are an ogre faction part of the Barbarian Hordes, but they are not like the classic brute ogres. They will be a mid advanced ogre civilization, with commerce trades, technology and magic knowledge!
To design this faction, we鈥檝e been thinking a lot about the Mongolian Warriors from the Genghis Khan era. Although we still have to work a lot on the entire lore for the Eastern Khazars we know that they鈥檒l be settled on the eastern lands of the world, near to Mountains Lands of Khazaria.
About the scale, these ogres will have an estimated lenght of 50mm from the feet to the eyes and they will be designed to fit in a 40x40mm square base.
The faction will be composed of a few tribes, depending on their village鈥檚 location. The biggest tribe will be based on these designs: Mongols and Huns. Have you ever played Ghost of Tsushima? They created very cool designs for the Mongols! Here you can see a little image board with some designs we have in mind: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1kQ1DHLGhQkUMuMdyp-TcasHFmBBai-g3?usp=sharing
Also, there will be some other tribes like a savage tribe from the mountains (the classical savage ogre with big sticks and rocks!) and other tribes with different styles, influenced by their location closed to other nations, so we鈥檒l see some Imperial Ogres and some Arabian Ogres.
About the Steam War Machine
As we told you in the update we did the other day to the Steam War Machine design contest, the final winner will be created this January 2022. It was an amazing competition and we saw many cool design. We hope to make a another design contest very soon!
You can see the poll and the other selected designs HERE.

Are you planning adding all the interesting "weaponry" from Mongolian vs Chinese wars, like fire oxen, or flame birds?
We will try to implement those kind of things in the Khazarian army! :D
I must say I preferred the two earlier separate steam tank designs, this merged version appears goofy and exaggerately tall to me. Stil a beautiful piece of machinery, don't get me wrong, it's just the general appearence that is not completely convincing... Great look on the ogres, though!
You might take in consideration the idea of keeping them separate designs and using them as armored steam veichles that fulfill different roles on the battlefield, or much simplier each of them could be linked to one particular faction of the Empire
Very excited for these ogre units.
Thank you very much Chris! Glad you like them :D
Awesome. While I understand it鈥檚 fantasy there鈥檚 no way for that canon to absorb recoil!
The tank is on wheels so I think that the tank could just roll backwards a small amount. There is a lot of mass there with all the metal plating so force of the recoil would not affect it much.
As usual your models are beautiful but Khan Ogres and classic Steam Tank are very common and "deja vu" even in the world of 3D printing. I hope there is more stuff that is unique to you to come for january and february!
They are good ogres and will nicely bulk out my Ghamak Persian ogres. But I'd rather have cavalry and auxiliaries for the Varyags.
Looking good. Maybe my next ogre army. 馃槅
There is always room in our heart for some ogres :D
Fantastic!
Thank you very much Karsten! Glad you like them :D
Mmmh ... The tanukhids sure look big :D
The good ogre is the big ogre! :P
Will you consider at one point making a smaller and closer to original scale steam tank?
We want to make more Steam Machines in the future for an alternative Imperial faction full of mechanical elements, but all of them will be in the same 32mm as the rest of our miniatures. Anyways, we always try to limit the size of our miniatures to fit the standard base size to be playable :D
Oh that is fire
Glad you like them Ben!
