Mounted Norse Huscarls
Today we would like to introduce the Mounted Norse Huscarls, the heavy cavalry of the Norse Tribes, and the single most armoured thing the range has produced so far.
For this unit, the horses received as much attention as the riders. Each mount wears a plated chanfron with a pair of long, forward-swept horns, turning the animal itself into part of the unit's horned iconography.
Below that sits a layered arrangement of cloth, hanging mail skirts and thick fur trim.
The horses remain the same heavy northern breed used for the Mounted Raiders. They simply now look like they have been dressed for a proper war rather than a raid.
For the weapon options, cavalry spear, flails and round shields are available for these miniatures.
As previously mentioned, all weapons from the Norse Tribes range of miniatures can be used with these miniatures.
The rider bodies are partially enclosed in armour. Riveted plate cuirasses over heavy mail, layered faulds and tassets and greaves.
The helms are the range's horned spangenhelms, pushed further. Great outward and upward curving horns, some with additional forward-jutting pairs, and a distinctive horsehair plume rising from a tube mounted at the crown. The plumes are a small but very effective addition: they give the unit motion and a soft, whipping counterpoint to all the hard iron below.
Fur mantles sit high across the shoulders and chest, and long braided beards spill out beneath the masks. Even fully armoured, the silhouette reads as northern rather than knightly.
Against the Mounted Raiders they give the Norse army a genuine heavy cavalry option: slower off the mark, considerably harder to stop, and built for the head-on charge the Raiders would sensibly avoid.
In this example you can see the Mounted Huscarl 2 with cavalry spear option and flail option.
What's Next?
Before moving on to Spooktober and the spookiest season of all, we may see an additional miniature for this range. Stay tuned!

Really love the less edgy look for my warriors of chaos. Are there any proxies for leaders and demons planned, too?
Glad you like them Peter! While we do not have plans to create demons, there will be a month full of heroe miniatures for the Norse Tribes!
Hello!, I'm sorry for a silly question (I'm a new here ;-) ) , but when/how can I download September minis? I can find any link to Google drive like it was for an August release.
Hi there! The monthly set of miniatures is usually available between the 10th and 15th of the month, so the September 2026 set of miniatures will be available very soon!
Love them!
I just loaded this and let out an audible "ooooooooooh"
You might have already answered this question & I apologize if you have. But when will the Norse range going to be on your Myminifactory page? Also as always with this range love the armored calvary. Can’t wait to see what you do with the Norse hero’s!
Hi Stu! The monthly set of miniatures is distributed -and available for purchase- in MyMiniFactory right after the month ends! Glad you like them!
