Norse Reinforcements

In today's publication we will take a look at the upcoming miniatures for our brand new Norse Tribes fantasy army coming next month to Highlands Miniatures.

The September 2026 set of miniatures will be composed by:

  • 7x Norse Huscarls with modular hand weapon and shield

  • 3x Norse Huscarls Command Group including captain, musician and bannerman

  • 7x Norse Huscarls with two handed weapon

  • 3x Norse Huscarls Command Group 2 including captain, musician and bannerman

  • 7x Mounted Norse Huscarls with cavalry spear and shield

  • 3x Mounted Norse Huscarls Command Group

  • 4x Mounted Norse Huscarls Horses

We may update the list to bring more content to the Norse Tribes. Stay tuned.

Norse Huscarls

Today we would like to introduce the Norse Huscarls, the heavy-armoured elite of the Norse Tribes.

Plate pauldrons, faulds, greaves and vambraces are layered over mail and quilted cloth, and long cloaks fall from the shoulder to the heel. Nothing within the Norse Huscarls is knightly or refined. The plates are simple, riveted and slightly crude.

The horned helms are the centrepiece of the unit and the single strongest identifier on the tabletop. We deliberately went for the fantasy Norse look here rather than the historically accurate one.

Beneath the horns, the riveted helms retain the ocular mask established across the range, with heavy brow and cheek plates framing the eyes and leaving the beard exposed below.

As with the rest of the Norse Tribes range, the Norse Huscarls come with modular hand weapon and shield. You can use any of the available hand weapons from the Norse Tribes range of minitures with these miniatures.

The Norse Huscarls can be assembled with hand weapon and shield or halberd and shield.

The Norse Huscarls are designed over a 30x30mm square base.

Even though the two handed weapons will come separated from the bodies, due to restrictions in weapon and arm position, these two handed weapons are not interchangeable.

I can't see if the Huscarls wielding two-handed weapons have got a shield at their back. Does anyone know or is able to see it?

Hi there! The Huscarls with two handed weapons do not have shields in their back.

I was having some trouble deciding what new project to start for Old World Battle March (you have sculpted so many cool armies already), but I will be starting a force of Norse Marauders! These look so great, I just can't resist! I love the style and the modularity and I am looking forward to the rest of the range.

Small ask: can some of the shields not come with a horn slung across the front? It makes them look very similar, sharing such a large detail. Love the minis and can't wait to print and paint! Keep up the good work

Hi Joshua! Sure, we can include one without the horn. Remember that you can also use any of the shields from the Norse Raiders and Mounted Norse Raiders with these miniatures!

These are fantastic! Can’t wait to see the calvary! Are the weapons and shields swap compatible with the marauders?

H
Highlands Miniatures · August 25, 2026

Looking fantastic, I do hope there are more shield options in the future though. Some plain ones at the very least. Are the shields from the Norse Raiders compatible with these as an alternative?

H
Highlands Miniatures · August 25, 2026

Glad you like them! All shields and weapons from the Norse Tribes range of miniatures is compatible with the miniatures :)

Lovely, any chance for at least one or two left handed weapons? Asking for my Mordheim friends... 😉

H
Highlands Miniatures · August 25, 2026

Glad you like them! All hand weapons can be used as right hand or left hand weapons, you just have to mirror them in your slicer! :D

Great Job. These guys look fantastic and have a heavier dynamism (I am talking pose not armour) than the raiders (which was on purpose of course). Really love the components photos as well. Can we keep this going. Also, the separate Banner and Bannerman really helps me from a commercial point of view. The amount of times I have snapped the banner whilst removing from the supports is crazy when the two are joined. Real

H
Highlands Miniatures · August 25, 2026

Glad you like them Kevin! Yes, between the heavy armour and the shields, these miniatures take up more volume than the basic norsemen, so there is less space to play around with the poses. We will try continue showcasing the single pieces when suitable, when there is real modularity and stuff like that!
