Your sculpts are incredible. I just got my first resin printer. FINALLY getting it set up 😅 and your stuff is top priority. I’ve got a hole bunch of stls like your Gallia Damsel, zombies and Sunland minis ready to go for Frostgrave. Quick question (if you have time). I’ve only used resin prints once and they were given to me cured with supports still in them. The shaving dust and little shards from cleaning is obviously pretty nasty, so do you wash then remove supports so you can file/sand prints and remove that stuff before curing? Does it make any difference? Are there any other precautions or tools you’d recommend for that specifically? Keep up the great work! Have a lovely week. Sophia EDIT: I just found Deathburgh! Apologies if I’ve said this before but I might have sent you a similar message previously but my memory is terrible 😂. I’ve been developing and started kitbashing a pretty unique faction for turnip28 and whilst your on a fantasy kick right now in the collections, with some tweaks it could fit that mould too I think; like an empire/human faction and for sure could fit Deathburgh! It’s Scottish, Celt and pict based, but also draws on Scottish folklore and cryptids and I think it would make a spectacular faction for a monthly service like titan forge. I’d have loved to commission a ‘sprew’ I can kitbash with but I can’t afford it and whilst seeing it realised for myself would be amazing, I think people could do crazy stuff with it in trench crusade or Frostgrave/Shadowdeep and especially Silver Bayonet with the base of it being napoleonics like Turnip. Obviously you’ll have a schedule and stuff planned way in advance to give your artists time but I figure it never hurts to ask but if that sounds interesting to you id love to send you some sketches and a couple of shots of the little bits I’ve managed to kitbash and build with kitbash on Heroforge. Your heroic scale, beautifully simplified but expressive style would match it perfectly. If I could have commissioned anyone it would have been Vae Victis. I live in Scotland with a turnip group local to me, so the idea of turning up with the first Scottish themed army is kinda wild. 😂
Hi Sophia! Thank you for getting in touch and glad you like our miniatures! So, regarding your first question, you should always remove the supports before curing them -for personal use at least- as the process is much easier and leaves little marks into the surface of the miniatures. Our process is as follow: remove the miniatures from the printer - remove the supports from the miniatures - quick was in acetone (three seconds) to remove resin excess - proper wash in IPA in our wash and cure machine for a few minutes - remove IPA excess and any other remaining residue with a makeup brush - cure in our cure station. That should leave you a pretty good printed miniature! We have several videos and reels in our Instagram and Youtube accounts showing the whole process. We recommend you to check them out. Regarding your second question, that's a very cool idea for sure! Unfortunately Highlands Miniatures is the work of a single artist, so we run a very tight schedule as you mention and we have already covered the next couple of years! That being said, at some point in the future we will run out of fantasy armies to sculpt and we would love to expand into new universes!
We need more than ten zealots
Thanks for another month if wonderful minis. I was surprised by the zealots as I live the older ones, but I am not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. Looking forward to a command squad and other Ogre accoutrements that you've teased.
