A new set of Feral Elves miniatures will arrive to Highlands Miniatures this September 2025.
We continue with the development of this new fantasy race with the perfect set to complement your elves core troops: dryads, forest golems and a big, big tree!
If you are into trees, you'll have a blast this upcoming month!
In today's publication we introduce a unit of Dryads, the caretakers and mystical spirits of the Feral Elves’ forest realm. Leading them is the Dryad Spirit, a miniature that will become truly breathtaking once painted by you, guys!
In Greek mythology, Dryads are tree nymphs, spirits tied to forests, groves, and individual trees. I’ve worked to capture dynamic movement and unique poses, but still representing the stiffness of the trees as the right nature of these creatures.
One of the biggest challenges has been to properly render the wood, the skin of these Dryads, without using wood grain. While it may look good on illustration or renders, the surface of the miniature would be covered by noise, making it harder to paint.
For the Dryad Spirit I wanted to explore a more femenine idea of a Forest Spirit, following the myth of Daphne and Apollo and diving into a classic -in term of classical art- visual.
As previously mentioned last month, we work you guys will put on the painting and basing will be very important to bring these miniatures to life, so time to put your hobby hat again and create some cool bases!
As you know, designing anything non-human is always a challenge but I’m really happy with how these turned out, i hope you like them!
Here you can see some of the references we have followed to sculpt these Dryads:
Bring these forest spirits to your tabletop and let the forest rise!
The September 2025 set of miniatures will be composed by:
9x Dryads
1x Dryad Spirit
4x Forest Golem
1x Forest Golem Shepherd
1x Giant Tree

They are very nice... will the feral elves be next in January? Maybe the elite units like the deer riders, war dancers and foresters? Thanks

Thank you Fred! We are currently working on those Forest Golems. Right now the idea we are working with is a mixture of wood, roots and stones!

Glad you like them Karol! These miniatures have been sculpted following the references posted in this publication, where none of those are from GW and are based on generic fantasy dryads, so we expect it'll be all right!

Love these! I’ve been searching for printable Treefolk with this kind of aesthetic since I first got into printing. Absolutely cannot wait to see the larger units too- a giant humanoid tree with a look similar to these models is top of my wishlist

Thank you for your comment Rory, glad you like them! While the Forest Golems will be a mixture between wood and stone, the Giant Tree will definitely be a 'humanoid' chunky tree!

These look great, and you've really captured that stiffness you were going for whilst still being dynamic. I also like you haven't gone crazy with the texture on the skin. There is a good chance the print will lose a lot of detail anyway and it should be up to the painter to add that texture. I really love the champion. Going forwards I think you should play more towards this chimera of tree and women. Maybe just an extra few dryads for the unit with this idea to break up the woodiness of the unit. Not as much female. Maybe 75% wood and 25% female on just 2 or 3 dryads.

Thank you very much for your comment Kevin, glad you like the miniatures! Hopefully the amount of branches won't be an impediment for painting, but yes, we very much prefer the lighter skin surface without all the noise from the wood grain, allowing a more subtle painting with green, orange and brown tones. These are very tiny miniatures at the end of the day and they may look much better just with plain colours and nice bases from a table view! And yes! We would love to sculpt an additional set in the future with a blend between elf and tree. Unfortuntately that path has been followed by the big company not so long ago for their Age of Sigmar range of miniatures, so we prefer to play it safe for now haha

The mature side of me can appreciate the amazing poses and how the Dryads look so intimidating, whilst still looking very natural. The immature side of me can only say, "Boobies!!!"........
