July 2025 Preview: Aegean Heroes
In previous publications we have already seen a first glimpse at the miniatures and universe of Deathburgh and the basic gameplay and ideas of the first Highland Miniatures tabletop game.
The new alpha version of Deathburgh is here: nastier, smoother, and deadlier than ever! We've updated the rulebook based on your playtesting feedback, and it's now available to download.
And for those of you who want to dive straight in, we’ve also launched a Tabletop Simulator workshop on Steam.
Test it. Break it. Tell us what hurts.

Aegean Heroes
A final month of Aegean Elves miniatures is coming to Highlands Miniatures this July 2025 to put an end to this majestic fantasy race.
Magical creatures and mighty heroes will arrive to the shores of the Aegean Elves to lead your armies into battle. Do not miss them!
In today's publication we'll take a look at the Aegean Dragon and its two (2) available riders, an Aegean Elf Prince and Aegean Elf Great Mage.
Let's see what Ramon has to say about them:
Sculpting the Aegean Dragon for the July release has been one of the most challenging projects I’ve taken on. I’ll be honest with you—sculpting monsters isn’t something I usually enjoy. It takes me much more time, and the process can be mentally exhausting. This dragon in particular demanded a lot of patience, pushing me far outside my comfort zone, and this if the final result after two long weeks of hard work.
Still, I hope you like the result.
At the moment, there isn’t a confirmed list of miniatures for next month. What comes next will be dictated by the time we have left after completing this creature. But I’ll be working hard these last nine days of the month to bring even more awesome miniatures to complete the set!

The Dragon riding Prince looks a little stumpy compared to the Dragonmage,is that on purpose?
Man, I cannot stop looking at the images for this dragon. it is amazing. I really hope we get to see one for the feral elves as well!
The dragon is glorious, I like it a lot!! It captured exactly how I imagined it!! You mentioned that the list of minis for this release isn't confirmed due to time - for what it's worth, I wouldn't mind a delay in delivery if the release would be bigger ;) even if the delay would affect the following month too. Take your time, you're doing great job!!
And there's an amazing centerpiece! Love the style, I think you did an outstanding job.
Wow this is amazing! I dont know how many share the same thought as me, but for such a large creature, I wouldn't expect a big release on other miniatures this, especially for the hours and dedication you have put into the dragon! 😍
Will there be a spot for magnetisation for the two riders?
This is a great idea! And I'd add it might be nice if the wings were magnetizable for transport.
I want to join everyone else in saying wonderful job and very much appreciate that you're willing to stretch yourself for such an iconic and important model in the range. This is definitely the best monster you've sculpted in many ways! - the model will work well on the tabletop and not bump other units it's up against as is a common problem - It's well balanced and won't tip over easily! - You've done a good job of including small touches like rivets, dents, scratches and so forth across the model. These help with the sense of scale and it's one of the things that makes a lot of the best monster sculpts out there stand out. The one thing I could suggest is adding a subtle rough texture to the main scaly areas - your style of sculpting has a lot of flat surfaces even on areas that would naturally have a rough texture. I don't know if there are brushes/tools that can do this quickly but if so it might be worth tweaking. The reason for this is that, for large organic models, most hobbyists will use drybrushing as one of the steps in painting and so that microtexture will help this look great. It will also help break up the different areas (scales, skin, armour, horn) a bit. I don't think this is helpful on human or even small ogre sized models, only on imposing specimens such as this one! I'm just delighted by this model, stoked you chose to include it as part of the main release and hope that it helps you develop your skills to become even more monstrous ^^.
I’m gonna push back against your suggestion, too much/excessive texture is a pain to work with if you do anything outside of drybrushing/contrast/etc. It shoehorns the sculpt and the painter. As is I think it has plenty of detail to still use that approach if you want to, but without necessitating it - and that’s the mark of a good sculpt in my eyes. It’s something I appreciate about the work coming out of Highlands, it’s more in line with the type of cartoonish detailing you’d see in current GW models
This is soooo good, going straight to the print queue.
Could use another wizard rider, with a flaming sword.
That's a very Sunland thing to say
To spoil the party a litle bit: is the dragon pose final? When I looked at the beatiful pics I always had the feeling that the scene felt some how „staged“. I then saw that in the front pictures the wings seemd to perfectl symmetrical, from pose and from mesh. But feel free to ignore me and my urge for nitpicking.
Thank you for the feedback Helmut! Yes, the pose is final. The symmetry of the wings make it easier to cut, support and assemble the miniature, that's the main reason behind it :)
Incredible! I wish you come back tu Aegean Elves in the future because you nail them everytime!
Thank you very much Fred! We'd love to keep working on them, maybe in the future a Fantasy Fillers and Heroes to bring more hero and unique miniatures :D
Really very nice model! I love it! 🤩🤗
