How to Cope with Rumination: Don't Feed the “Demon” (Default Mode Network)
Jessica sat down with Dr. Ned Hallowell to talk about the Default Mode Network or DMN - that Hallowell calls the demon of ADHD. What is it and how does it relate to rumination? Hallowell explains! https://www.additudemag.com/default-mode-network-adhd-brain/

Thank you so much for these videos. They have really made a difference!
This was such a good video and explains so much about... well, my existence until now 😂 I just spent a week on a walking holiday with some close friends and wish I'd watched this when it came out because it would have probably made me feel less insane (feeling great and super happy and stimulated walking and chatting during the day with them, then /intense/ rumination afterward when things quietened down a bit or trying to "relax" with a book or something after). Thank you both.
This explains so much… 🥺
This explanation is truly fantastic 😍
Super interesting, and by coincidence Additude magazine just published a short article the DMN vs TPN: https://www.additudemag.com/default-mode-network-adhd-brain. But in that article they say that part of the problem for ADHDers is that the DMN stays active _while_ the TPN is active. Maybe this is what Dr. Hallowell was referring to when he said the task we switch to to get out of DMN has to be stimulating enough to break the DMN's hold.
