Progress Report | The Judas Ghost - 07/07/2025

I'm now working on part two of chapter two for The Judas Ghost. I know 35 renders doesn't sound like much, but this is the scene that explains why this story is called The Judas Ghost. It's a huge reveal and I have to take extra time to make sure it's exceptional. And, so far, it totally is. I don't think it's going to resonate with everyone, but it's exactly my vision.

The book is a scene and a half away from completion. I'll still need to go back and write a few parts, but it's actually turning out pretty good. I'll post it here when it's finished and you all can tell me what you think.

CONCEPT ART: I had an idea for a story about a young man who discovers a window into a toon world where he meets a stylized woman on the other side. The theme essentially would be the stark contrast to her world of vibrant colors and endless humor against his bleak, muted world of hardship and never-ending work. She would introduce joy and jubilance to his world, and he would introduce ambition and reward through effort to hers.

I know people loved A Petal Among Thorns, and the two stories that came after weren't quite the same. They were great, but certainly never garnered the same love and interest that Petal did. This story of the man and the toon girl would be a sort of return to form. Heavily focused on the two individuals exploring each other and pushing boundaries in their discovery of one other. The female would have the big eyes that some people enjoyed, and a more stylized appearance. But it's ultimately up to you all. Do I work on The Judas Ghost and Quean Bee, or do I work on The Judas Ghost and this toon story putting off QB until TJG is complete? Let me know in the comments.

I want to do right by you all because ultimately you're the ones that support me and the ones I get to share my work with. I know I've been a Debbie Downer over the last several years. Censorship has hit a lot of people and virtually everyone else who gets hit by it handles it much better than I did. So I want my fans to tell me what they want from the future of my work. I want to cater better to you fine folk. Let me know how I can do that.

Thank you for all the adoration and support. Stay hydrated, you thirsty devils!

TJG has not grabbed my attention so far, but it's early. You do you, but if you are asking, I'd prefer you complete the two you have working now (TJG and QB). That with the book is a lot to take on at one time. I do like the idea you have for the toon girl story and hope you take the opportunity to explore that story down the road.

My favourite so far is AMoB. APaT comes second and Quean Bee comes third. As you're finished with the first both, I'd recommend to put your energy in Quean Bee, but that's just my wishful thinking. I don't like TJG's game mechanics and the story seems quite thin to me at the moment. Anyway, you're the dev, you decide.

I'm all for the big puppy eyes and cute cartoon look, but do whatever feels right for you. For me QB is not the game you have made that interests me the most. Your way of writing is light and wholesome, and I think that that story would be better if it was told in a more sincere and darker tone, like a darker version of you, or a insanely light version of Blackheart... No one masters every genre. The important thing is that you dont have too many balls in the air at the same time. TJG, QB (Or now switching over to The Cartoon Boon) and also your writing at the same time... That's spreading you way thin. I understand that having one main project and one side project can keep you from burning out, but having 3 projects at once that you need to spend time on... Just be careful that it dosent overwealm you :)

I have enjoyed all your stories so far, even Penny's! So far AMoB has been my favorite(haven finished OtM yet). Having said that, you do what you love the most and will keep you motivated!

I like TJG. I think once it is more developed it will take off. Quean Bee I alos like once I played it more. I think the set up for QB just took time as does TJG.

TJG is my favorite. I think you should work on whichever of the other ones is most appealing to you. I do like the idea of Toon World though. Reminds me of the movie Cool World.

I love the toon world idea and the idea of a LI even close to as sweet as Petal!

I second those who say that you should follow your inspiration. But to still give you something to go on, i would say: I prefer stories that have some darkness in them. Of the trilogy, I preferred Moon, especially in the first half, because of the struggles and emotions that you needed to deal with. Both Petal and Bliss were more light-themed in my opinion. For the same reason, Avalon is my favourite of your earlier work. So. I think this toon idea can work out fine, _especially_ if you allow some darker themes to contrast those bright colours. (There's a reason people loved the idea of Barbenheimer last year... ) Or maybe you just want it to be light-hearted. One good thing with working with multiple projects in parallell is that they can be very different. Although I, as many of your fans, would prefer if you kept the number of projects small :-)

So I checked. It is Quean Bee as I thought. So why are people spelling it wrongly? Focus!

Lockheart · July 7, 2025

I've spelled it wrong once or twice too. Haha.

I'm only one voice, but my feeling is that you shouldn't have too many irons in the fire. My opinion would be to put TJG on the back burner until you have a really good idea for it that really elevates the story, like a threat that all people (and ghosts) in the mansion have to unite against. atm all character storylines are somewhat similar in the sense that you try to slowly make them open up more. So until a good idea comes along, I would put my energy into QB, to prove that your vision for it, really works. Starting something new is of course always the most exciting part, but I think you do your best work in the other parts of development. Also, disclaimer, I do like playing a female character, so maybe slightly biased. (and I also dearly miss Penny, you said she might have a small role in QB)

Don't know anything about The Judas Ghost at all so impossible for me to say anything about it. This Toon thing sounds a lot like Who Killed Roger Rabbit to me, don't know if that's where your inspiration comes from. For a long time, I had such a crush on Jessica Rabbit 😂 If I'm being honest, I can't say I have much excitement for either Quean Bee nor this toon thing nor TJG. I prefer the taboo stuff, and I'm not really into love stories either tbh, but that's just me. My view though is that this toon thing is fresh but only in your head atm. Whereas Quean Bee is already out there, so that's where your priority should be IMO, to the fans who are already playing through one of your stories. I imagine they aren't going to be too impressed if you put them on the back burner to work on something brand new. That's my two penn'orth anyway 🤷🏾‍♂️

Yes, Roger Rabbit did come to mind at first with this story. Though it was more of a jumping off point.

I’d say follow your creative feels. We’re here and follow you because of what you create. You’ve done a great job finishing up what you start, with one exception but I’m guessing Penny was more of a learning experience. Looking forward to playing whatever is next. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication!

Hey mate hope all's well. Yeah I enjoyed the entirety of the RGT but APAT really hits me in the feels, So fuck yes to a similar game. The concept sounds intriguing as well. Mate I really wouldn't mind which order you decide to go. Gotta say Lockheart you're by far my favourite developer your work is consistently awesome and you can really feel the love you put into your games. Take it easy bud and cheers for the awesome content.

I think that TJG might have stayed still for too long. I may be wrong. Quean Bee (I got the spelling right, right?) seems to have taken off in TJG's place. Perhaps you're tired of TJD. I can see how it could be hard to develop. In any case, go with what you prefer to work on.

Second the motion for Queen Bee work - I haven't warmed to the Judas Ghost, the story started out good but mechanics are way too complicated.

Oh I would love a game based on that concept art. I love the big eyed style Avalon and Dallas had and would love to see an even more extreme version of that. Plus I loved the more intimate story in Petal, especially with the first person perspective

I would like you to work further on Queen Bee
