Holiday Traditions - Merry Simsmas

SIMSMAS MODVENT CALENDAR DAY 24

This is the last mod I wanted to share with your during my first edition of Simsmas Modvent.

There are probably lots of mods like this, with various traditions. But I wanted to make something Christmas and New Year's Eve related for this last post and this seemed like ideal way to close my Simsmas Modvent :)

I checked up traditions from all over the world, at least what Internet says about them. If I didn't get correctly some traditions - sorry, I am not that much familiarized with various cultures, I tried my best. Also I treated it as a fun activity - obviously I wasn't able to recreate in the game some traditions with proper accuracy. I regret I couldn't add more, from more places. But first I didn't have that much time, and second, it was not easy to make some traditions. For example, I tried to make a tradition to wear something red, but it didn't work :(

So here it is, list of 20 holiday traditions I managed to prepare for you. Some existed in the game already, but under more wide categories, while I wanted to focus specifically on a certain activity.

Each tradition is in a separate package file, so you can delete what ever you want to delete.

Holiday Traditions List:

1. Bake Cookies - you can cook alone, or use "Cook Together With" interaction

2. Craft Decorations - drawings made by kids, but also papercraft, or making candles!

3. Decorate Holiday Tree - I don't have to introduce this one I believe

4. Drink 12 Bar Drinks - inspired by Irish New Year’s pub culture combined with modern challenge to drink 12 different beers for New Year's Eve, at least I read it in some articles :D

5. Eat Fish Dish - mostly inspired by Polish tradition for Christmas, we have a lot of variations for fish dishes for this holiday ^^

6. Eat Fried Chicken - as much as I am a bit skeptical if this is very popular in Japan ;), this was inspired by "Kurisumasu ni wa Kentakkii" (Kentucky for Christmas) tradition

7. Eat 12 Grapes - New Year's Eve tradition from Spain (Las doce uvas de la suerte) and maybe also from other countries, but I know only about Spain ;)

8. Holiday Cracker - I think it's mostly known in UK :)

9. Kiss - this tradition was inspired by New Year's Eve tradition to kiss on the midnight

10. Kiss Under Mistletoe - probably all know this one ;)

11. Listen to Winter Music - specifically to this one Winter radio station, because who doesn't do that??

12. Lottery - I unlocked this tradition for general use as I was inspired by big Christmas lottery in Spain - El Gordo, and I want my Sims to participate in lottery whenever I want

13. Make Toast - probably the most common tradition ever

14. New Year's Eve Song - and I refer here to Scottish "Auld Lang Syne" which has its equivalent in the game - Froodage Lang Syne :D

15. Play Family Games - inspired by many cultures to spend holiday time with family, but mostly by playing Mahjong Chinese tradition for New Year and family gatherings

16. Prepare 12 Dishes - again a Polish tradition we have for Christmas. It's a lot, I know, but some of us always prepare it for each Christmas ^^ Number 12 is symbolically linked to apostles/months.

17. Relax in Sauna - inspired by the Finnish Christmas tradition of joulusauna (Christmas sauna)

18. Sing Carols - well, of course, although I had to include some non-carols songs too, cause otherwise there's only Fwingle Zibbs

19. Wish All The Best - I added this interaction and made it a tradition. Merry Simsmas is a must.

20. Wish Burn – inspired by a New Year’s Eve tradition from Russia, where people write down a wish and burn it as the New Year begins. I added two new fireplace interactions – Wish Burn and Burn Stuff – allowing Sims to symbolically let go of troubles and welcome new, positive things.

Sorry for text in Polish under holiday traditions icons, but I hope you can anyway guess most :)

I had very little time to make this one, so I hope everything will work as expected :D I will probably review it later on and see what kind of improvements I can still make.

Requirements:

Requires Season EP and XML injector (for Wish All The Best and Wish Burn traditions).

Conflicts/Compatibility:

This mod doesn't override any game from files, so should not conflict with any mod.

It will work with other holiday traditions.
