Progress Report: 90% Finished. Final Editing & Scripting
Thought I'd give an update, we're 90% done with the final tasks being editing and scripting of certain events. As I'm sure you're aware, every scene has to have not only facial changes but character movements and poses as well. Some scenes are over 60 lines so a lot goes into minor movements. We hav

Source Code Converted to use GMS2 2.3
This should give us some new garbage collection methods as well as new tools like sequences, new organization methods and some new programming freedoms. We previously didn't switch over because of our GM Live extension but that's since been updated. Overall staying up to date will make things easier

Performance Optimizations with Texture Groups
Previously we didn't have any organized texture groups, so memory usage was quite high with around 30 texture swaps... Now its around 10 average! Now we have each texture sheet organized so you should see an even smoother experience than before. People with great PCs probably wont see a difference b

Implementing External Dialogue for Localization
We always knew when we were doing the scenes that the dialogue was baked into the code, but with the help of our new programmer Qevin, we're putting it into external files. This has a lot of benefits like helping our writers alter dialogue already written quite easily, but the biggest help is for fu

v0.1.3 So Close! - iOS Working! - YYC Optimizing - Mac Delayed
I wanted to make a post to explain everything in detail. First thing's first. I tested on an iPad mini and it works! Woot! I just need to make sure I can upload an IPA and explain side loading to iOS users, since by default the app store doesn't allow adult content. We're also doing something called

We're at the Home Stretch!
We're almost there! Last dialogue event is being added and character daytime spawning & event method is also in the works. I wanted to make sure characters at least show up in the correct rooms for their individual routines. After that we'll have our dev team do one last QA pass before we hand it of

Work Smarter Not Harder
I took a little bit of time to setup a software called batch text replacer. Now this wont do everything we need for setting up the characters, but it does convert every dialogue line into a click event which should help moving forward with the setup. Just something neat I thought I'd share. On the l

New Build Progress & New Dialogue Programmer?
We're getting closer everyday! Thanks so much for your patience. What's left is about 2 chapters to write out and animate. Hoping we can knock it out by this weekend! In the alpha you'll be able to customize names and also characters relations to you. I'm also in talks with a CS Student who offered

Modular Faces Pay it Forward
Instead of just exporting full faces or even full bodies to slap onto the characters, we have modular pieces for the mouth, eyebrows and eyes. It takes a little bit of time now but the payoff is less HDD space & more flexibility when working! We'll show off a bit more of the faces next post. -Dirty

Day 41: Settings Programming
I'm having a team called BlueBurn help me out with the settings menu so we can speed things up. They're doing great! This should make it into the first version so you can scale to older monitors or perhaps phone devices lower than 1080p, It also gives more control over seeing shaders, fullscreen, au

Day 14 - Programming the Map
Oooo I'm actually excited to start bringing this to life. It's gonna be fairly easy to get everything in and working. The only thing that might take some time is getting the camera perfect. It needs to scroll easily, use arrow keys, edge of screen, all those things need to be taken into account. We'

Latest VNgen Update Hits!
We'll be using VNgen for our development process moving forward. It was between Unity + NaniNovel and Game Maker Studio 2 + VNgen. Ultimately I'm moving forward with VNgen solely because I have more experience with GMS2 and will move a lot faster with development. For now, let's get that map into th
