ANNOUNCING MOVIE MINDSET: SEASON 4
The movies? …They’re back
Welcome Movie Minders to another season of Movie Mindset! Over the first three seasons of Mindset, Will and Hesse have endeavored to provide a curriculum with a broad selection of oddities, rarities, old movies, and foreign movies beloved by movie sickos but mostly unknown to the employable or people with normal, stable relationships and families. On this season they have curated for you a roster featuring some popcorn classics that we all know and love. This season highlights some heavyweight, big name directors like Kubrick, Hitchcock, De Palma, Verhoeven, and Spielberg, big time mega movie stars like Tom Cruise, movies about sports, movies about writers, movies about Doc Holiday, and even a few movies you have already seen like The Matrix. Joining Hesse and Will along the way are some of our old friends like Felix, John Early and Theda Hammel and some new movie pals as well! Time to lock in and watch some movies!
New episodes out for subscribers on Wednesdays through December 16. As with all our miniseries, this first episode of the season is free on all platforms. All subsequent eps will be available exclusively here at patreon.com/chapotraphouse

Goulvies should check out Ken Russell's "The Devils "(of Loudon,1971). Restoration on theaters this week. Known to be the most sacrilege ever put to film.
Excited for this but can you add Starship Troopers to the Verhoven episode real quick?
Who's making the decisions here
Two things are true of this season’s lineup: 1) Full of great picks 2) Closest they’ve gotten to looking like The Rewatchables on paper (probably could’ve used one non-super populist episode like say, the Fassbinder one but here for it regardless—stoked they’re finally doing DePalma)
We're still pretending Cosmatos directed Tombstone?
Yoooo speed racer
Sad it's not a spooky month movie mindset but I'm not even exaggerating, MM has become one of the top things I look forward to every October. Please keep making these!
Hoping for Lauren and Jane and Stephen from batting around for the wachowskis since they've been doing the wach party for their patreon this year
Hell yeah
Here’s the list on Letterboxd… https://boxd.it/XZKGQ
Kind of disappointed I've heard of all of these and have seen most. Looking forward to Hessa and Will together again tho
Please add in more D****r hate to the tom cruise episode.
11/18 is my new never forget
The age of games is over, the age of movies is back!
This is the first Movie Mindset season where I've seen pretty much all of the 🎞🎞
Showgirls was there for Verhoeven
My daughter was saying "period" in middle school four years ago and Hesse always reminds me of that time. At first I thought, is this a new curse word? "period" replaces "shit" ? But then it was like oh yea, end of sentence.
opening theme is awful
fwiw i would love to hear Will give us his full rant about Digger -- i saw it and thought it was pretty good but i completely get his comparison to Everything Everywhere type films. ultimately my takeaway is that Digger is an article of intra-liberal communication & i guess i'm glad they're approaching taking some of these subjects seriously but personally what liberals think is none of my business. the film it most reminded me of was Megalopolis.
Sportssss👏
GO SPEED RACER
already stoked for that episode
All across the nation, people are taking to the streets and shouting in unison: “We want Ghoulvie Screamset!!”
YO. Doing speed racer. I will literally vibrate out of reality.
god-tier cinema
Hitchcock/Hedren lets gooooo!
Fuck yeah
No horror movies this year is a bummer
You can kind of squint at the Hitchcock and DePalma movies and they're horror-esque. Yes I am coping
COME ON COHAGEN YOU GOT WHAT YOU WANT NOW GIVE THESE PEOPLE SLOP!
This is the most DUDES ROCK lineup imaginable
Finally, the series I sub for.
Let's fucking gooooo
lineup is fire queens 🔥
We need a Halloween episode please
Amazing lineup fellas
Review Orpheus (1950) sometime in the future!
When Femme Fatale was at the ill-fated Montreal World Film Festival, I was working near the hotel where they had all the big filmos and got on the tiny elevator there at like 7:45 AM alone with a beleaguered Brian DePalma. He immediately clocked that I was excited and recognized him, and hated anything that I might say or do. I left him alone and rode silently with the legend. Years later, I was in the same elevator during the comedy festival, and just as the doors were slamming shut, I saw Weird Al running to catch the elevator. Doors closing on Weird Al, just as they had on my chance to say anything to DePalma.
I love dinosaurs
PERIOD
All right, now we're talking
Verhoeven! FUCK YEAH
no digger?
Right? Digger PLEASE
This is the first day of the rest of my life
TOTAL RECALL Arnold grabs a random working stiff on the escalator and Michael Ironside’s squad blasts him with a million squibs. Forever burned into my memory.
Theda's back, hell yeah
There's no way the Barry Lyndon ep is long enough.
🕯 🕯 🕯 🕯 matt on 🕯 🕯 the verhoeven 🕯 🕯 episode 🕯 🕯 🕯 🕯
I’ve been meaning to watch Speed Racer and doing a double feature with a Matrix rewatch will be perfect
No Ghoulvie Screamset this year. Sad.
Yeah, there's only like 5-6 I care about here myself, might eventually try more but they don't fit into my seasonal viewing plan
barton fink!!!
After Digger incident idk if I can do it
- What the hell are you doing this for anyway, Doc? - Will and Hesse are my friends. - Hell, I got lots of friends! - I don’t.
Oh hell yeah
If your going to do classics where is bergman? This is squarhead erasure.
