Phantom Of The Neighborhood - Acme, Washington
This week, in Acme, Washington, a young woman vanishes while on a jog, on her very rural road. When she's found, brutalized & very dead, it's clear that there's a very sick person in the area, even prompting the police to look into the Green River Killer. Despite several suspects, detectives have nothing to go on, except hunches, and some DNA that they can't seem to match to anyone. Then, two women having a seemingly casual conversation at a waterpark, cracks the whole case, and reveals a murderer, that is as ordinary a man as there could be!!
Along the way, we find out that the diner seems to be the center of social interaction in some small towns, that you should consider it very good service, when you call to file a missing person report, and the police send a "human tracker" right out, and that "murder stay murder"!!

In the northeast, it goes brook, stream, creek, river
Women have a lifetime of experience dealing with innocent flirtation, sexual harassment, lecherous behavior, the entire spectrum of sexual overtures and it starts EARLY. This is pattern recognition. Running across a dangerous predator feels like ice water running through your veins and electricity up your spine. It's different.
Kim Wagner is a damn hero!!! Can you imagine how scared she must have been?!
How sad that their Mom had 2 children get murdered, and 1 went cold and the other took 30 years. How would you handle that?
. . . But what happened to Yoko?!
Friend's big brothers can be problematic, in general. Back in Jr high, we had a friend who would try to get me and my sister to stay over. This girl, i believe, pretended to be asleep and my sister and I were then visited by this girl's older brother. Oddly, we ended up playing Monopoly with this weird boy, but still... Friggin creepy of him. We found out after the fact, we weren't the only ones.
Important note about men who "get broken up with and suddenly hate women": they ALWAYS hated women. They just feel like they have a reason to be open about it now
I read the Blooding. It a very interesting story
But did you wear Big Johnson shirts?
This Kim woman is my hero
Wednesday Before thanksgiving where I grew up is called blackout Wednesday Lmaooo 🥂
I wish they would do an episode of all the missing people Patty, Michaela, Lanae, and all the other missing people from Skagit/up river. There is a 4 hour episode - include the body found in the suitcase 2-3 years ago up in Ross Lake .
I used to be all in regarding sex offender registries...but, like death penalty, there are times that it might not be good I recommend the movie "Untouchable". It comes at this from all angles.
Am I the only one who is disappointed that Yoko just disappeared from this story?
You are right about the wine coolers
I live in the PNW. This is the whitest place on Earth 😬
Given the curse that seems to be on this family, I’m really glad she didn’t fly commercial airliners.
But what happened to Yoko…..???
So the funniest thing about this was all of the things you were like well hell I don’t know let him know the evergreen boughs. It was just funny and I think that it just helps me relate to you as being just real guys.
Omg Jimmie, Cintas! I’ve worked there for 25 years, that made my day!!!
When I hear “Running in the woods” it always makes me think of the “Pine Barrens” episode of The Sopranos.
Pretty much every Evil Dead movie lol
Just because I was curious, at 1:22:00ish, after they talk about her funeral they mention some other murder/missing people in the local area Diane Leslie Reeves - ‘Endangered Missing’ Jay Cook and Tanya Van Cuylensborg - Their case was solved in 2019 after a suspect was arrested in 2018. He was caught using familial dna. The guy was a trucker, there’s no way these are his only 2 victims. Rita Disanjh - on October 2nd 2007 Henry Keeler Redlighting confessed to the crime. He became angry with her whilst giving her a lift home from the mentioned beach party. Wendy Aughe - Darren Dee O’Neall was on the FBI 10 most wanted list for a different murder for which he was caught and sentenced to 27 years and 9 months (plea deal), he was extradited to to Oregon for a kidnapping and rape case, for which he got 135 years. He was charged with Aughe’s murder in October 2022.
I’m pretty sure No Fear is sold at Hollister now 🫣
JIMMIE are you good my man
They used to use Yoko Ono songs as a method of torture in the military
I know it didn't make sense to the guys that Mandy might have run into the river to escape, but I get it. Women are told to run into anywhere to escape an attacker, including into the street to the median. When I've been on trails alone, running into the river has actually been one of my mental escape plans for any kind of attack. A guy could probably outrun me, but swimming is a more even score, and he's not going to be able to r*pe me in the water.
My guess though is if he had a gun if you're in the water you're incredibly vulnerable as its a clear shot for the entire time.
The first time I drove through....I was really pissed that there wasn't anvils everywhere. 🤦🏻♀️🤣
This one hits close to home. My mom knew Mandy. Was part of the reason she got into law enforcement. Really great job as always.
Why do so many criminals have the name Wayne in their names? It’s usually a middle name too
I’m telling you, gotta trust the female creep meter
Me listening to this while working in airway heights 😳
The song is on YouTube BTW for anyone curious. Not the worst thing ever. And super sad cause its a slideshow of her pictures. That poor girl 😔
There is gangs in Seattle and it's suburbs they came down for California the gang that over ran the area is MS 13
So weird... Yoko means "Side" in Japanese... why would they name the kid Yoko?
My sisters and I were standing in line at the Atlanta Airport to board an international flight. There was a little girl in line ahead of us holding onto her passport and she was around the same age as my niece. I said to my sister, mom of said niece, "Aww, she has her own passport." The girl's dad heard me and pulled his kid in closer to him. I felt so bad!! He didn't know I was a harmless old woman, my comment definitely could've been creepy if I were anyone else! 😄
I worked on a research project on the Nooksack River in grad school between 2017 and 2019 and I assure you guys, I CONSTANTLY made nutsack jokes 💀
Any woman who would not leave her abusive homicidal husband "because of my kids" should not have kids to begin with.
I know James doesn’t think it’s creepy that he touched that girl with a pen or that his actions made them think he was capable of murder—but women get it. Our instincts are finely tuned. We can feel murderous rage even when they are being nice. Always choosing The Bear.
What I got from him was that YES the whole interaction was creepy, pen included, but saying "this guy was pervy to me one time" and jumping to "so he must be a murderer" is a stretch in general. James (and Jimmie) always stick up for women so I think they get it (as much as a man can).
As a NY maple farmer.. Big leaf maple take 80 to 100 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup. Typically ratio for us it's 40 to 60 gallons of sap to one gallon of syrup
I grew up in that area and had never heard of Acme! 🤣
When Jimmie was talking about Von getting angry at him and he said "When I through my teeth say don't you dare, Von gets angry", I thought Jimmie meant he took out dentures and threw them across the room. I was laughing so hard when I realized what he meant 😅
If there is one thing we know, harsher and longer sentences in for profit prisons that dont give a fuck about rehabilitation REALLY helps deter people from commiting crime! Just like the death penalty! 🙄
Here in the greater Philly region pronounce ACME as Ak-eh-mee 🤣🤣
God that poor mother. Two children murdered in different places
And the dad—3 kids
The Happy Accidents—you know ALL of those band members were told as children that “they weren’t planned. They were just happy accidents.”
I am a Patreon member, just want to supplement a bit 👍
Does anyone know the current way to send the guys money? Listening to ten year old episodes, I’m certain things have changed and I want to make sure a donation finds them. ❤️ Supporters here are THE BEST I hope you all have a wonderful non-murdery day 😊

I live on the NH/VT border and agree it’s all one big state. I actually wish it were - although I think people on both sides would be complaining. The scenery is the same, the people are not 🤣
Idk why I’m only ever compelled to comment about location related things 🙄 great episode as usual!!
Jimmie had a mild Andrew Jackson moment!
Can confirm we call it the nutsack river
Excellent floating - until the water gets too low and you have to carry the tube and the cooler to the next spot. 😆
What a pig
Son of a bitch, I knew you were gonna mention Vermont and New Hampshire being the same as soon as you mentioned Oregon and Washington being the same state 🤣 I live in NH but on the NH side, not the Vermont side hahahaha
i can't stop thinking of the poor Japanese exchange student. I always feel bad for victims and family but how crazy was her perspective?
I forgot about Yoko!
What’s the “Operation Fist” bonus episode they talk about at 2:35:00?? I thought I’ve listened to all the bonus episodes but I guess not
CRIME IN SPORTS BONUS - FLAGSHIP INTERNATIONAL SPORTS TELEVISION- Nov 14th 2021. Its an absolute classic
Ah... Man. This is a rough one for me. Mandy was just four years older than I was when she was murdered. I know her story well. She's an inspiration, made of the loveliest true grit. She deserved so much better. Wherever she is, I hope she is running free, like the goddamn wind.
It would be awesome if we knew that Yoko said "automobiiiile."
💯🤣🤣🤣🤣 God Bless Long Duk Dong
Looked up yoko ono and omg no couldn’t make it 30 seconds
That girl must have been the hawtest. I can’t think of anything that would make me listen to that nut.
That's a lot of "very"s!
