Poll: Help me decide on a future Charm pattern!
As you may have noticed, I've been creating some fun sewing challenges for myself and sharing them on social media! I've really loved the process of sewing just for the joy of it, and to challenge myself to try something entirely new. I've had lots of requests for these projects to become future patterns. So my question to you is: which one do you want the most?
Here are the contenders:
My One-Yard Column Dress was inspired by the fabric itself, but also a little bit of Marilyn! I love a column silhouette. (Maybe it needs a train? Or a butt bow?) But you all were most excited by the inner net corselette, a technique I've been refining and am really excited about.
My Grecian Goddess Book Launch Gown was inspired by Madame Gres, Elizabeth Taylor, and all things flowy and goddess-y. It has a boned strapless foundation with yards and yards of soft illusion to create that Grecian drama.
You didn't even know I was working on this Empire Waist Fifties Frock! I love this silhouette and have been spending some time perfecting it (as you can see on this in-process muslin). My vision is for it to have a few different upper bodice options, including maybe a peasant blouse look, and one with long sleeves.
Which idea excites you the most? I can't wait to hear!

Please more princess seams!
I think we’d all like to see all of these at some point.
I’d be very excited by an internal corselette
As much as I love the second silhouette, I feel like, budget-wise and skill-wise, the first option is the most realistic one for me. And the inner corselette, as many people already said, would be a fantastic tool to add to the ones I already have!
Please tell us you'll be doing all three at some point, cause they're all amazing!
Agree ALL of them
Option 3 would be a perfect make for Lindy Hop at Camp Hollywood ! 💃🏻 I vote 3!!
I’m torn between one and 3!!! Ugh. I chose the column dress.
I think the weather is influencing me right now, the 50s frock is what I’d like to make, but I love the thought of making the corselette dress.
Empire dress I love the silhouette
why stop at one....just say'n ;-p
I want to learn more about the corselette and built in structure I’m busty so I need all the structure I could get. I don’t have the hips for a dress like that or pencil type skirts. As far as the Grecian and the 50s frock that’s more my style since it’s more flattering to my body shape. I only get frustrated with princess seams. I can’t seem to get the right fit in a full bust adjustment
I voted for the empire line dress because I love that on me… But I’d love to know how to add the inner corselette too! 🤩
I would mix the empire waist fifties frock with a inner net corselette, perhaps the sheer material could be a wash of colors that are in the dress.
None of the Above. I wish you could time travel to a different era. 1930s would be interesting and would look unique compare to all the 1950s dresses they are all starting to look the same.
So hard to choose they’re all so dreamy!
I would love to make all of the versions of the third one they all look fun
Can we have the empire waist dress with the inner corselette? 😂
No "all of the above" option 🥲
The one yard frock is cute but let's be honest, us plus size girlies aren't going to be able to make a dress with a single yard of fabric. The other two options are stunning though!
I vote CORSELET! For YEARS we've begged for a longline bra so the CHARM corselet would be the best! I'd love it for all the 50s dresses. I would like to learn draping too but a Charm corselet could go into the #3 dress too! 🧵🪡💖👗
Yes! I absolutely agree!!! Also, do you know that Madalynne of Madalynne Intimates has a Merry Widow pattern? It’s on my list of things to make and I’m pretty excited about it!
Please do the Grecian Gown!!
Honestly, they’re all great! I just saw the Queen Elizabeth ll: Her Life in Style and the Schiaparelli exhibits in London and I’m so inspired to make beautiful things!
D - All of the above!!!
I am most attracted to the fifties frock, but the grecian gown is the most unique compared to the existing Charm library, BUT I would be most likely to actually sew the column dress. 😬 So it depends on what your goals are! I am not the most prolific seamstress so I am mostly here for the sense of inspiration and abundance. For that reason I choose grecian
Grecian goddess!
Love the option 3 dresses, but want to know how to make the corselette more! 😅
Love 'em all, but would really like to try #3! And yes one option with sleeves please!
I voted for the last one, but love them all! The column dress was a close second for the inner corselette and yardage! The pink empire waist example with the ties on the shoulders is so cute and was the reason I voted for number 3.
I love the Empire Waist. It seems like forever since we’ve had a 50’s full skirt dress. I had downgraded my membership because I wasn’t that interested in many of the new releases. I can’t wait to see the options you create on this one! 💖
Yes to the full 50s dress but I'd love the corselet to put in them. I do understand wanting to have more real 50s dresses, I've been a Patreon since the beginning but I do miss the more 50s looks.
I really really love the Grecian dress! But the comments influenced me, and the inner corselette would absolutely be a game-changer, not to mention that it's exciting to buy less fabric (possibly fancier fabric)!
I find the Fifties frock has the most would have the most variation to fit more body shapes. I love the Column dress, but I don't like how they look on my body.
Can't choose - I want all of them
While I do love the flowy Grecian dress, I feel like the empire waist fifties frock would be something I'm more likely to actually make and wear, especially if it has a peasant blouse option.
They are all lovely, but I have dreamed of a Gres style gown for years. I see it’s the least popular, but I hope there will still be a pattern for it one day!
The empire waist frock is something I’ve been wanting for years!!
A corselette pattern that we can ADD to any charm make
Yes!
I am super excited about the versatility of that empire waist fifties frock! But I'm also intrigued by the Column Dress with the inner corselette. The only reason it wasn't my first choice is I'm a very, VERY busty gal (narrow root, omega bust, lots of projection) and I've yet to create a strapless bra that actually fits me properly and holds the girls up. But it would definitely be my second choice, for sure!
Which strapless bra patterns have you tried?
I voted for the 50s dress because I'm more likely to wear it and sew it, but an inner corselette is a skill I'd like to learn.
Yeah, that corselette is something I want to learn more about. I had a velvet top in that 50s empire style when I was in college so I would definitely want to make that style as it's suitable for every day (cotton) or for the opera/wedding (velvet, satin)
Oh the glamour and femininity of the Grecian. I’m very curvy so the column dress would not be something I would wear.
while I voted for the Empire waist, I would not be sad if it was the Column. If you eventually get to them all, I think that would be the best option. ;)
Empire waist with peasant blouse look for me!
How is the 50’s frock in first place?? Live a little, everyone!!!
B for super special occasion and C for medium special occasion :) :)
Oh, wow, they’re all really beautiful! That Grecian gown captures my imagination, but don’t give up on those other two! These are all gorgeous ideas. (I’m toying with going as Persephone some Halloween and that draped gown would be perfect!)
All 3 are absolutely gorgeous! You are amazingly talented!!
Think I'd get most wear out of the fifties dress as a single piece, the corselette and technique with it would be most practical and multi purpose, but the Grecian gown is the one I'd be most excited to make. So I'm very torn but inclined to say the column gown with corselette.
For everyone saying there are already so many patterns like the fifties frock. Who? Where? Are you finding this? Are you just talking about vintage and big four paper patterns? Or is there some other size inclusive vintage inspired pattern maker out there that I have missed?
I think the corsolette and the column dress but as two separate 'things'. That rainbow column dress was just incredible work btw So so impressive but looked so simple and beautiful. Proper old Hollywood craft.
The inner corselette looks pretty cool as a challenge piece, but I am gonna get more use out of the Empire dress.
One yard dress!!!! I love an efficinet dress …;-)
The column dress is my least favorite - only because it’s not a style that suites my figure- but the inner corselette would be amazing. The Grecian dress is amazing!! But it would probably just end up being another pattern I look at but never make. :) That empire waste dress though. I would make dozens and dozens of those! And if it had multiple top options!? That feels like old school charm right there! (And the ability to create and add more later to boot)
I agree with you!
I resent having to choose. But of the three I think the empire waist dress is the more wearable. Although I recognize that the lack of suitable opportunities to wear the Greek goddess dress should give cause to reconsider some important life choices.
I want them allll hahah 😅🩷
The column dress - I was planning that Marilyn dress for my 60th birthday party, and I want to use the corsetry underneath.
50s Empire
I love the neckline on the pink dress.
First choice is definitely Empire waist dress, and as a lady I do love to diversify the Grecian gown is my second choice.
Empire waist! Pretty please! I've been hunting for this look forever!
The Grecian draped gown gets my vote. It's really different and nothing like it out there yet.
I love them all and hope all of them will be on patreon in time but I am in love with the Grecian Mdm Gres dress, I so need it in my wardrobe
Lets be greedy & have all 3 xx
They are all great! But the empire waist dress is more for me
Inner corselette for sure! We can use this te technique to elevate many looks
Would it not be possible to have the inner corselette on the empire waist?
The reason why I became a Patreon is just because of the Vintage 50’s vibe and the nice tailored waist dresses. Because I know I’m going the wear them. All other kind of special clothes I’m not going to wear. So, the easier looking and sewing, the better for me. Empire waist 50’s is my fave with sleeve options because of my wide arms.
Honestly i voted for one but love them all!
I love the idea of having a base dress with different top options, it would save a great deal of time when making garments toiles, but I would also love to see the corselette particularly if this can be used within lots of different garments 😄
Grecian Goddess dress is my favorite. Imagine it with drapy silk, or brocade with organza, the dress shape and inner structure can give do many options with fabrics . Also easy to fit different body types and heights.
I was torn between 1 & 2. Was surprised to find neither one had the highest vote! But, of course, I'd make #3 anyway because it is GERTIE CHARM!
wowww the Grecian Goddess is perfect <3
Empire Waist and Grecian dress please *love*
I would looove to be able to make the Grecian!!
Although a corselette pattern would be amazing. I bought one from another pattern maker and it’s way too confusing for me.
I voted for the fifties frock just as long as it comes with the peasant blouse option. I would LOVE the corselette but I would need not just video but an in-depth written instructions. Perhaps a sew-a-long would be a good idea. I also love the Grecian dress. Draping is an ADVANCED technique that requires a dress form. I feel this would be the most frustrating of the three.
I'm obsessed with some of red carpet Grecian dresses from the Odyssey, but I really really like the rainbow column dress too!
I voted for the empire waist, but I would love a module on inner corsolette, as I’m trying to figure it out on my own
I am always a fan of the Fifties Frock, but would love to have a great column dress that requires a smaller cut of yardage. I’ve done a few net corselettes (made one as part of my daughter’s wedding dress and she said the dress was super comfortable), and would love to learn more about their construction and have patterns with that inner structure
I think I would use the empire waist dress pattern more but the corselette column dress is amazing and so different from anything else i own so I've voted for that. I even have fabric my sister bought back from Tanzania almost 20 years ago that would be perfect for it!
It is May Day themed directional print with pro union writing. This is why I've never wanted to cut it
I love the Column Dress with Inner Corselette! Please do this one!
1. Empire waist with the 3 options. 2. One yard column with corselette. The poll is fun! Thank you
Option 3 sounds like a wonderful and versatile pattern. Seeing how an inner corselette works would be fascinating, though the column dress itself is nothing I would ever want to make for myself.
I love all of them
I feel like the midriff one could be done with rita, the Grecian one is a matter of playing with fabric over a lamour, the corselette is the one that's most useful and a different base for what we have. Funny thing is I've just been drafting it myself
All things fifties for me, but if my eyes continue to get worse, I will have to quit sewing altogether.
Gown 2 is so beautiful I can’t understand the poll result 😭
WHO is voting for that 50’s dress? You can get a pattern like that anywhere. Yes, even in extended sizes. I feel like I have 4 of them now.
The inner corselette would be a great compliment for the fifties frock, particularly since the neckline looks like one that likely won't work with a regular bra.
I picked the corselette, because that is a technique I would love to learn, the the 1950's empire waist dress is more practical for everyday wear. I absolutely LOVE the Grecian gown. But sadly have nowhere to wear it.
That was a really hard choice! Looking forward to seeing them all someday!!
If I’m honest, I’d love arms and shoulders like yours, but I will settle for a low-yardage dress. 🙂 In all seriousness, I am learning so much from you and think the corselette would improve my personal skills. If #1 came with a bonus shrug or bolero jacket, I could see myself wearing it to shows and weddings.
I had such a hard time choosing, but I’d really love to learn how to do some draping. That being said, inner structures that would make strapless gowns not such a challenge for my large bust would be amazing.
Definitely the 50s empire waist dress with sleeve options! Been looking for this pattern for years!
Empire waist! C'mon, most of us don't have fabulous events to attend--as gorgeous as your gowns are, I will never have cause to make one. I would make every variation of the empire waist!
Such a hard decision! Love them all, especially the goddess dress but need the corselette too for other projects, not necessarily the column dress.
I can see the effect of the collaboration with Gunnar! You started polls and he learned how to post patterns directly in the email ❤️😅. I am team empire waist, but I love any and all of the three to be released at some point 😉
I’m on team inner corselette! I would just love a corselette pattern that could be adapted to any dress!
Just adding to the INNER CORSELETTE choir!!
The fifties frock! I have been looking for something like this that I can make from different fabrics. I love the idea of a peasant top option!
Ok I am in love with ALL of these pattern plans! I would love to learn about the fabric draping technique used in the Grecian gown. But … the empire waist 50’s frock is also so fantastic! It’ll be such a great skill to add in the different waistline style and is very wearable. Can you make them all just pick one at a time and pace them out?! 🥰🥰
Echoing the ‘all of the above’ option. I’m particularly intrigued by the corselette but that Grecian one is something special and different!
The empire waist is practical and I’d absolutely use it for daily wear and probably sew it in several fabrics, but there isn’t anything like the inner corsalette, and that seems like a feature that would be very useful!
Cute dresses with minimal fabric yardage would be amazing! Plus, I'd even try that built in corselette. (I also want to wear that Grecian gown, but doubt I'd ever actually make one.)
Empire waist! Empire waist! Empire waist! Options are a girl’s best friend. 😍 maybe on the shoulder for regular bra and cold weather friendly.
All of these dresses are beautiful. If I had to choose, I would pick the Empire waist Fifties Frock.
I'm intrigued by the inner corselette, but I have been looking for a pattern like the pink 50s dress on the right for a while now.
Column dress is a really close second, though. But I like the idea of all the different sleeve/neckline options♥️
I'm voting for the 50s frock because that is the most versatile but I'm very interested in the coreslette and what the heck that is/does
I feel like there’s a lot of 1950s inspired gowns already, whereas for me the corselette would be really helpful to learn, and would be a whole new skill set I would love to learn from you. It’s harder to find those types of patterns so I have preferences for the less often seen options.
Gosh, what a hard decision!!!! They are all beautiful in their own way.
Can’t you offer an inner corselette to go with the 50s frock? I am all about long sleeves this summer (thanks, skin cancer!), plus I love the silhouette.
The white couture goddess gown on the right of option 2 is spectacular. I particularly love the bottom of the top as it goes into the skirt. I also love the idea of the corselette, but I would want a full one that I could switch out with dresses vs already built in
Loving option number three but definitely need to know how to make that corselette.
I love the empire waisted dress, but the Grecian gown is stunning
Column dress! As much as I love how the other dresses look, I've been a bit disappointed until this last month with this year's collection of patterns, not because they're not stunning, but because some are not very versatile and I'd like to sew things I can wear every day or on special occasions depending on the fabric I choose. (I did think of making butterfly dress pajamas at some point)
Hard to decide, I love them all😍
All of them are awesome and would be great as patterns, but if I need to choose: 1. Grecian gown, 2. column dress and then 3. the empire waist
To be honest I want all three. However I am intrigued by the inner corselette construction.
Girl, don't make me choose!
The 50s frock! I especially love the surplice version in the images. And bodice options sound great!
Grecian Goddess Gown!!!
I would love to see the process for the corselette but fear it would be stretching my skill set too far.
I have so many versions of that empire waisted dress saved on Pinterest just waiting for you to release one!
The inner corselette would be amazing.
I would love a surplice option like the third inpo pic. I have been after one for ages!
All 3????? I know in greedy but I want to know about all of them. The couture of the inner corset is fascinating to me as well as the structure of the Grecian dress. I loved hearing the details about how you created it at the book launch
The 50s empire waist dress is one I've wanted to recreate for a long time so it definitely gets my vote. It looks more in my skill range to make too.
The first two are nice but I’d never wear them. I adore the third one!
The Grecian one! It’s got a lot of skills to learn from, and agree with others that there is some iteration of the empire waist by other makers/manufacturers. Maybe the Grecian or Column as a paid Charm Pattern and the 50’s empire as a Patreon option?
All of them!
I SERIOUSLY NEED the Grecian Gown pattern!
I love the Grecian gown and I adore that particular color of periwinkle. I would like to see a midi version of it. I love the other two as well but I personally would look better in the empire waist dress. I have lost 85 pounds over the past 2 1/2 years and while I'm proud of that fact, one of the drawbacks is that I have batwings under my arms. I need sleeves!
Congrats on the weight loss! I've made a lot of Ritas to camaflouge my arms and I've added them to my Lamour strapeless dresses too. Maybe you could try that.
While structurally I think the corselette would be a game changer, I would be much more likely to make and wear the empire waist 50’s dress in my day to day
All of them hahaha But i choise the column Dress
All are wonderful, but #2 is pure couture!
How about include the corselette regardless of dress?
YES PLEASE PLEASE!!!💖
I resent having to choose! lol But since I must... Although I publicly begged for option B when your trauma was resolved, Im surprisingly team A.
I would love the Fifties frock - I have so missed having new patterns in this silhouette this year 🙏❤️
Don't like the column dress much, but I do like the corselette. Can that corselette be applied to the Greek goddess dress?
The corselette can be applied to any and every single dress. It’s a true couture detail. It would be amazing… not just an amazing pattern, but an amazing skill!
Number3!!! Oh please!! I am gonna run out a sacrifice something to the pattern gods
Inner corselette please please please :-)
The Grecian gown is my top choice but the inner corselette would be amazing.
Difficult choice between the Grecian gown and the Empire waist...
I chose the Empire Waist 50s Frock.... BUT OMG the inner corselette on it's own would be HUGE!
Inner corselette is something I've been interested in for YEARS!!!! If fact, everything that doesn't go directly into the wash following wearing, should have one!!! It should be a rule!
I love all of them but an inner corselette would be so amazing. Especially for those of us who need to manage a large bust but can’t find comfortable undergarments.
YES PLEASE💖
Its so hard to decide i love all 3!!! I will vote for one but my real answer is all 3.
I think I've seen plenty of fifties frocks in many commercial patterns, so I think that's a lower priority request for me
Inner corselette for sure!
You mentioned the word ‘illusion’ to describe the soft material in the Grecian dress. I have come across this word for material before. Would you be so kind as to give a little more detail about what it actually is, please?
I want the corselette but not the column dress. :D
I voted for the column dress because its amazing plus the inner corselette but the empire waist 1950s would also be freaking fantastic
I think the draped gown is the most different and would teach me some transferable skills, so I voted for that! Plus it's just gorgeous.
Column dress followed very closely by Grecian dress
That's like asking us to choose our favourite child ! 🤣
all three are interesting but for me number 3 is most wearable. Only hope that some versions aren't off the shoulder as strapless bras are unavailable in my size in UK (38 FF)
You know what would make ALL DRESSES available even for my size a 38P? An inner corselette.
I love the idea of a smaller amount of really sensational fabric so I vote column dress with the inner corselette. I’m enjoying learning all these new skills.
Inner corselette!!!! Please 🙏
I am obsessed with the inner corset but I love the 50’s dress! But yes!!! Inner corset also!!!!!
I dont care for any of these dresses as much as I care about the **Inner Corselette**! I think that the level of Vintage *finishing* that my garments could have, if I had that skill, would be amazing and definitely COUTURE LEVEL! I mean, the 50’s frock and the pride outfit and the Grecian gown are all great. But the Inner Corselette could go with all of them…
My feelings exactly! The corselet would work with SO MANY dresses!
Empire waist fifties frock vote for me!
I voted for the third choice as it feels the most wearable/timeless of all options. But I would want to make all of them!
Absolutely LOVE the column and Grecian dresses - no matter what gets decided on, those better be coming our way! The empire waist one in the middle with the elastic neck line and puffed sleeves is my favorite from the third option. Always love trying out new silhouettes!
Oh my gosh, I love the empire waist (with princess-y type seams) and have been wanting one really badly! I’m also excited by the inner corselette, but don’t have much use for super fancy/fitted things. (Disabled and plus sized.)
Hi I'm another disabled and plus size Charmer. I usually always say 50s all day but I'd love to learn the corselet because that would make the dresses really fit better. That said I'd like to see the corselet in the 3rd dress. What is your favorite Charm Pattern to make/wear?
The first two are both great, 50s one is cute but I feel like so many people have similar patterns out already.
Please please PLEASE! the Empire Waist Fifties Frock I will absolutely die for. Been on the hunt for that Mccalls Pattern (pictured in the middle) for ages. Will love for it to be in your size range too
Yep. I'm torn. I think the frock pattern interests me the most (and would suit my body best). But this "inner corselette" technique sounds very useful. 🤔 Which one to pick.. I wonder if Gertie will teach us the corselette technique even if we vote for the frock pattern. 🤞🤞 Pretty please ? ☺️
All amazing but I really love the last one. If you did the first option I want the butt how option though😍
Yes to the butt bow! 🎀
Voted for the '50s dress because I want to make a dozen of them but that Grecian one is incredible and I would not be mad at all if that wins!!
I don't like the last one because I have narrow shoulders and all these almost-off-the-shoulder dresses require extensive bodice modifications to work on my body, which is extra-challenging because my overbust is wide, so I have to narrow one while maintaining the other and really don't know any easy way to get that right every time. The last dresses also mostly look a lot like previous patterns.
Hopefully you will see this. About bodices being to big, here's what I do. I cut out the garment in my size everywhere but the neckline. I choose a sz2 or sz4 to cut for that. Your outside shoulders remain your usual size unless you need to make them a size smaller too. I'm plus size but I'm definitely smaller in my upper chest and shoulder area so I have to do a lot of adjustments.
I love them all! But I know I would be able to wear the 50s frock most.
The Empire 50s frock is such a gorgeous silhouette!
I would literally DIE for the Grecian inspired dress
I love the column dress because it’s 1 yard!
All of them please! I can't decide which I love the most 😭
The corslette in dependable sizing would be a game changer for EVERY pattern. Yes please.
If the column dress with the corselette doesn’t win, I do recommend/request a “how to insert” a corselette in a dress. Please & thank you!
All of these are appealing but frocks with variations quicken my pulse😉
I love the 3rd one. So many options and great for RL. I like the Grecian style, but I am sure I would never wear it.
Omg if you make the Marilyn gown can you make a long option too?!?! I MUST make this gown!
Drapping, want to learn how to do it
All are fantastic
One-Yard Column Dress, wishing for dresses that require less fabric and we have nothing like that inner corset...what an amazing skill!
Love the Liz Taylor Grecian style Second choice is the 50s frock
All of them?! 😅😅
I definitely need an option d) all of the above!
I can help
The Grecian Gown please 🙏
I’m most likely to use the inner corselette with my projects but the Grecian gown would be my second choice
I’d love to see all of these from Charm at some point!
The inner corselette could be a game changer.
Love love love them all! But….. I would definitely wear the 50’s frock regularly.
this is fun but so hard 😭 🤣
The Grecian Draped Gown was a close second
The column dress with corselette! Omg I can’t wait!!
I’m excited to see the results of this poll. I just hope it’s goes the way I voted. 🗳️
My second vote would go to the third choice.
Inner corselette!!!!!!! They all look great, but that corselette would be. Game changer!!
Agree 1000%
Empire waist for now. In the future I’d love to see a pattern for Marilyn’s red jacket in Niagara ♥️
Oooh yes please. More outerwear. So hard to come by
