When I finished patrolling East Street, there were other places I wanted to check, but... for now I decided to go around South Street first.
South Street, huh... the city's facilities are packed in tight, and of course guards from the Knight Order are assigned to each one.
If someone messed up here, they'd quickly move to arrest them... and there's no one dumb enough to do something like that.
"I wonder if there's been any change to the facilities around here. Well... that's how it is. The exception is..."
I turn my gaze toward the area near the center of South Street.
The other day, when I walked around South Street a bit, there was a stall that the adventurer with me had stopped at... and that spot's livelier now than when we stopped by before.
Back then, it was mainly people who came into town through the South Gate who used it as customers, but now it seems like people from a much wider area are using it.
As I was secretly watching that area from the other side of the street...
"Vice-Captain Sera? Do you need something?"
A soldier guarding a nearby building noticed me and called out.
And it wasn't just him—other soldiers were looking this way too.
Not answering in this situation would be too suspicious... so I stop observing and head down to the ground.
"Good work. I'm just taking a look around town. Are you all the ones who usually guard this place?"
"It rotates, so it's not fixed, but... our First Squad is the one assigned here. It was the same when you visited with the investigation team members the other day, Vice-Captain Sera."
"Oh... I see. Well, in that case, this'll be quick."
I knew there were guards around, but I hadn't looked at each of their faces or remembered them, so I didn't notice... well, let's not worry about that.
If they're here guarding this place regularly, they should know if something's different or if something strange has been wandering around.
I decided to tell them what was going on in town.
They're on duty, so I can't take too long—I need to get this done quickly.

After I gave them a rundown of the situation from North Street to East Street and told them about the construction site in North Street, they each checked whether anything came to mind.
But it seems those people haven't come over to this side.
"Rather than trying to set something up... it seems like their goal is investigation, so wouldn't it be pointless for them to look at an already completed area like South Street?"
"Ah... that could be true."
It's entirely possible they're checking things out now so they can get a foothold in new parts of the city later.
After all, not just craftsmen but also people from the trading companies that will be setting up shops and people from the Merchant Guild have been visiting that construction site.
They might have been looking for people to cozy up to or make deals with.
If that's the case, there'd be no point in them coming all the way to South Street and West Street, which are already complete as parts of the city.
On top of the heavy patrols, it's also a place where outsiders don't walk around much, so they'd stand out.
"East Street is hard for outsiders to do anything in unless they're adventurers, so wouldn't it be excluded from their targets?"
"Probably. Lady Seria has that place under control, and there are adventurers wandering around at all hours, so if anyone made suspicious moves, they'd be found right away."
And then they'd get caught up with adventurers and handed over to Teresa.
It's not just people from other countries—East Street is basically a place where anyone not connected to adventurers stands out if they do anything, so we probably don't need to think too hard about that place.
"Well... we can't let our guard down anywhere else either, though."
For now it seems like it's only North Street, and I don't think they'll come out of there, but... that doesn't mean we can ignore it.
"Right. We'll make sure to share the information when we hand things over."
"It might be a good idea to assign the people patrolling North Street to each of the other streets."
"True. I'll leave that sort of thing to the First Squad."
They're offering all kinds of ideas, but whether we adopt them depends on August and Rick.
I'll have them report it, and then wait for the two of them to decide.
